  1. Brian Anderson. Not his play-by-play or anything, but I just watched the post-game and I swear he was blinking his eyes at a rate of 58 blinks/minute. It was annoying as heck. I couldn't concentrate on what he was saying since his eyes were going nuts. Maybe it's just an on-camera thing, but jeepers . . . .
  2. this is probably off-topic, but can someone explain to me how you are filing taxes from 2005 now in 2009? Please remember that I'm a normal Joe that just does his taxes every year and moves on. And how does relate to professional athletes/actors/famous people that are charge with owing XXX-dollars in back-taxes? I just don't get this. Thanks!
  3. My wife and I will be Brewer fans in Alaska for 2 weeks in July. Does that count? I'm actually looking forward to our cruise/land tour. Denali should be great and we've got 3 days in the Yukon. Looking so forward to it. I mean, Calvin and Hobbes were so excited that they left home for an entire afternoon heading that way. YUKON HO!
  4. I'm kinda scared to click the link. But I will. Thanks for posting it, rickey. I can't believe this happened, either. Just last night I was watching MLB tonight and Dan Plesac was going bananas over the guy and his start. Just sad.
  5. I seem to remember your 2005 version (actually I think you made 3 different versions--they're on my computer somewhere.) It was pretty good. The only thing was that in each version you used the same 3 songs ("Green Onions" comes to mind, or whatever that song is called.) and the same highlights in the same order in each version. It was just small subtle differences. I'll check your new ones out this weekend. Thanks for doing it, though. Even though I haven't listened to it yet.
  6. I forgot this was on. And I forgot to record it. I'll assume that either NBC.com or Hulu.com will pick it up sooner or later. I seem to remember that the pilot for "The Office" was kinda slow, too. I laughed a bit for it but it was not even close to what it is now (or in it's "hey day.") I'll try to check out the pilot online and then watch next week to see if it gets any better.
  7. Both were pretty decent, although I liked the second one better. Andy and Dwight were top-notch, especially the musical discussions and instrumentation.
  8. I know the JS online site used to have it up in the Uecker section. Maybe that was the Brewer Radio Network site, though. I can't check at work.
  9. Bill and Brian both said that Dave Nelson will be there in Milwaukee for the on-field stuff, so I imagine he'll be there for pre- and post-game stuff in Milwaukee. The only thing about the the old score BAR that I thought was cheesy and bad was when a player hit a home run and it would change to some scrolling scoreboard matrix of the player's name and his home run total. I just didn't think the quality was there. I hope they still show the stat--but just do it as a stat overlay as the camera shows the player rounding the bases. I also didn't miss all the darn sound effects when they are changing the graphics. All that buzzing, whirring, electrical sounds, etc can go, in my opinion.
  10. Reason #1 (for me, at least) that I'm not worried about the Brewer-shalacking today: After an 8-home run affair yesterday, the Diamondback and Rockies settled down into a 3-0 pitcher's duel today (1-0 for most of the game.)
  11. I had no idea what you guys were talking about last week, but after seeing highlight after highlight on MLB Tonight from Opening Day, I now understand. Why did FSN get rid of the BAR on the top of the screen? Going back to the corner graphic is kinda "meh" and reminds too much of a video game. I don't like it at all. Of course, I didn't like the BAR on the top of the screen when it first came out.
  12. jj: what casey said. And didn't CC have a pretty terrible start to the season last year, too?
  13. yeah, there is absolutely no other way to listen to MLB on the internet. Occasionally, the WTMJ website will be active through the National Anthem or something, but it always goes quiet shortly thereafter.
  14. not to nitpick, but isn't the magic number 163? Using this method: Take the number of games left for the first place team and add one. Mathematically this will provide the threshold in the magic number by which the second place team cannot possibly overtake the baseball team at the top of the standings. Compare the loss column. Compute the difference in the number of losses between the top two teams. Use the number of games remaining plus one, and subtract the number of games the top team is ahead in the loss column of the standings. For example, if team A is 90 and 62 with ten games left to play, and team B has lost 8 more games than A, A's magic number is 3 to clinch the pennant. The math works this way: 10+1=11 and 11-8=3. When a team's magic number reaches zero they have secured first place.
  15. I refuse to click this link again. I made that mistake a year or two ago and couldn't "Baseball Boogie" out of my head for days.
  16. I get it for $169, I believe, as a long time subscriber. The $189 is for new Extra Innings subscribers, I think.
  17. "Opening Day" by Terry Cashman VERSE Well, I count up the days in a winter haze Since the leaves began to fall. Now it won't be long 'til the sun comes shining through. When the camps start breakin,' my spirits awaken To an irresistible call, Of an old American song that's always new CHORUS And the robin is here, The sky is so blue. There's a band, there's music And the flags are flying, too. The grass is so green, It's like never before, It's Opening Day, I can be a kid once more. VERSE Now will the champs repeat in the summer heat? Will the races go down to the wire? In April ev'ry team has a chance to wear the ring. And there's a rookie phenom Who tore up the farm, And the fans never seem to get tired Of chasing the dreams that dance in the air ev'ry spring. CHORUS Yeah, the robin is here, And the sky is so blue. There's a band, and there's music, The flags are flying, too. The grass is so green, It's like never before, Yeah, it's Opening Day, I can be a kid once more. BRIDGE So open the gates And let the people in. Let the games begin. And may the home team always win! CHORUS The robin is here, The sky, so blue. There's a band, and there's music, And the flags are flyin', too. The grass is so green, It's like never before, It's Opening Day, Yes, it's Opening Day, It's Opening Day And we all can be kids once more.
  18. I'm kind of glad to see Cincinnati get the traditional home opener this year (for years and years, the Reds opened the season at home with the first pitch always occuring before everybody else's). They had got away from that lately and the ESPN Sunday Night game took it all completely away.
  19. at SF - 3 games-- I think they'll go 2-1 Chi - 3 game-- I think they'll go 1-2 Cin - 3 games-- I think they'll go 3-0 at NY- 3 games-- I think they'll go 1-2 at Phi - 3 games-- I think they'll go 1-2 at Hou - 3 games-- I think they'll go 3-0 Pit - 3 games-- I think they'll go 3-0 AZ- 1 game-- I think they'll go 1-0 so that makes a 15-7 start. I'd take that.
  20. stupid UConn. But I gotta cheer for the Big Ten. Oh, well. I guess I'll try again next year.
  21. I actually didn't know what Pepper's position really was, since you never really know. I just guessed that he was the bench coach. and yes, it is most definitely "Tire World" because we have a "Tire World" in town and I go through that scene just about every time I pass the place.
  22. McCutchen was the only guy I recognized by name, but I only scanned the box score briefly. Still, that's not a good morale booster, even if their better players were no where near the field.
  23. this quiz was too easy. Here are some others: 1. What is the bench coach's name? 2. What are the titles of the comic books, by title, that Jake and the others are reading? 3. What is the Indians' record when they first unveil the Rachel Phelps peel-it stand-up in the clubhouse? 4. The fake phone number given to Jake Taylor by Lynn Wells is actually for what? 5. How many times do they use real MLB footage from real MLB games at County Stadium? 6. How many times does the same fat guy storm the field after the Indians clinch the win in the bottom of the ninth? 7. What is the significance of all the Quad-Graphics logos that appear on several signs held by fans during the playoff game? 8. What could never happen in the stands at a real MLB game won in the bottom of the ninth that DOES happen in the movie? 9. How many characters have lines in the American Express commercial? 10. In the dubbed for television version, give me at least three different quotes that were majorly flubbed up by the voice-over people to make it clean for cable television. 11. Following a big win, Jake spots Lynn in the stands and tries to chase her down. But his car is on the other side of the stadium. So he is told to take the bullpen car. What is the security guard's name? I'd post more, but these are pretty obscure.
  24. maybe they planned on doing so, but with the economy, FSN couldn't afford more HD cameras and equipment and had to postpone it for a year (or longer). Just a thought . . . . . (didn't say it was a good one)
