    maybe it's a whole conspiracy by the BBQ sauce people. Or a bunch of KC Masterpiece fans that are vindicating their sauce's good name. Or maybe it's fans from Kansas City that are taking action that their practice of BBQ-ing is only meant for meat, and not potatoes and corn.

    ditto to BBQ Fritos. Now all you can find are normal and the Chili Cheese flavor. I'm not talking about those Honey BBQ twist fritos, either. Just plain BBQ flavor. Can't find them anywhere.

    I, too, will welcome you with open arms. The Red Sox are probably my "favorite" of the evil empire teams (Yankees, Mets, Dodgers, Cubs, White Sox) and I cheered for them to win all those years until they finally won it all in 2004. Now, they're just another team of gotta-haves and fans that are way over-spoiled. Welcome to our Crew. Hope to see you around during the season!

    when you have a cold and your sinuses are full of snot, you usually take some medicine. But when you do, the snot clears up for a few hours until the medicine wears off. Where does the snot go during those few hours? Is it a handful of miniature circus strongmen holding back the walls of snot in my nose and they finally succumb to the sheer weight of snot a few hours later? Why hasn't anybody developed a "Mr. Sucky" tube for sinuses like you have at the dentist for sucking up drool? I'd love to be able to stick a tube into my sinus cavity and clean that sucker out. However, if you get too powerful of a tube, you might suck out some brains. That wouldn't be good.

Of course, I was a doofus and didn't bring the camera with me to school that morning. It would have been awesome to get some more panoramic shots since it was so gloriously white and frozen.

    I wish that I had had a seminar led by Michael or even Pam after today. Our school district had us sitting in an auditorium for 3 hours listening to 3 different boring monotone speakers about children, education, blah, blah, blah that we already know. I read Sports Weekly and SI during the whole thing. Even closed my eyes a couple of minutes.

    I'm going to go oddball and say 83-78. The Crew will be out of it by the final weekend and a make up game with the Cardinals during the final weekend will not be made up.

    I will second the route that azcheesehead takes to get to AZ. I use that route every time and it is phenominally easy and free of hassles. Plus, it is cool as heck (in a macabre way, I suppose) to drive through Greensburg, Kansas (big tornadoes completely destroyed the town a few years back). And it is quite a fast route, despite a third of it being at 55 mph speeds.

    I re-watched season 2 last summer and, yes, Palmer was "voted" out of office temporarily and Jack did reluctantly give the VP the title of "Mr. President" for an episode or two.

    Just finished mine up on Turbo Tax online. Getting some nice refunds back from Federal and Arizona. I probably should adjust our withholdings so the government doesn't get interest free loans from us every year but it's still kind of nice to get fat refunds every year rather than just increasing our paychecks by $40 or so every 2 weeks. The only thing I worry about is getting forms mailed to me after I file. That happened last year with one form and my data entry from Quicken was off a tad, costing me a few bucks in refund probably. But I'm pretty sure my numbers are accurate so I'm not too worried. Hopefully, I'll have my refunds by Feb. 20th!

    I still would rather have a handshake and a nice conversation with a player than an autograph, but that's just me. I don't even need a picture of it. I do think that this a highly debateable topic but we all need to remember to keep cool heads over it. Nobody's really stepping over the line yet, but I'd like to squelch it before it gets that far. Some of you are big collectors. Some of you are not. Don't try to prove that one way is better than the other because it is each individual's personal preference. Please continue to keep the conversation civil. Thank you. For the record, I agree with strawboss that the story is more important than the artifact.

    well, they delayed school 2 hours this morning. It looks so beautiful here with all the snow (about 3" total). But it was the wet heavy snow and the temps plunged into the 20s overnight so everything is now frozen. Luckily, I know how to drive in this stuff. Had we left the house 20 seconds earlier, however, we would have got nailed by some lady who took a curve way too fast and fish-tailed into our lane before crashing into some guys yard, nearly taking out his fence. As we pass her, she's just laughing. Idiot. I took some pictures last night and this morning. I'll post them when I get home.

    yeah, I'm thinking the same thing. I mean, Talkin' Brewers should have started 2 days ago (in the past few years it began on the first Saturday after the Super Bowl in February) and it wasn't on--as far as I know. Maybe Uecker vetoed the "selection" due to his Cubs ties or something. Maybe Uecker wants to fly solo like Vin Scully. I already miss, "All right, Jim, thank you very much!" I wonder if Bob said it to Jim when he told his partner he was heading to Atlanta.

    is this official yet? I read the first 70 posts at noon today and figured it'd be a done deal by the time I got home. But here I am, four hours later, and I don't see anything official yet. If it does come to pass, I would take Looper and accept him into our happy bunch, since some help is better than no help at all. Looking at his numbers he doesn't look like he's completely lost on the mound for a starter. Sure, he's not blowing anybody away and he's not flashy but he's a fairly solid arm. I don't think he's had any arm issues/injuries either, at least not in the last few years. As for McClung vs. Looper, let's wait and see what they look like starting on Saturday. A few weeks in and we'll know better what we're looking at.

    isn't that what we have Craig Counsell for? I like Kennedy but he only plays 2B. At least Counsell can play 3B and SS in a pinch.

    well, you gotta remember that Kingman, AZ has about 320 nice days every year (maybe a few less) and those bus drivers have zero experience driving buses in sloppy snowy weather . . . on dirt roads in some places . . . with mountain grades in some places. Better to be safe than sorry. Other than that, I agree. I, too, laugh when they close school for so little snow.

    WooHoo!!! They called off school today around noon for another snow day!!!! In NW Arizona, that's twice this year they've done it. That's a new record for me while living out here. About an inch on the ground, 32 degrees, 2 cars have flipped over on the 4 lane busiest street in town. It's been great! Feels like I'm back home!

    Thought I'd resurrect this old thread seeing as you folks had a nice "spring-like" day and we're having a winter storm warning in NW Arizona today. Luckily, only rain in the lower elevations where I live.

    I noticed that they went back to the regular credits tonight. I liked how they changed the opening credits on Sunday's episode. It was a pleasant surprise and welcome change, I thought. I just started watching tonight's episode so I'll post about it later. edit: Pretty solid episode. The balloons were great. Andy was pretty funny. Oscar had one line and it killed. And Michael's mnemonic device to memorize everybody's names was hilarious. "Lazy eye" really got me rolling over.

    on a whim, I decided to clean up the guide on my Directv. For some reason, FSN Wisconsin is coming in on 669!!! To me, this is big news, because usually it is an ALT channel and is "black screened." But the commercials were for FSN-WI and everything!!! The bad news is that even though "Brewers Classics" is supposed to be on right now, they are actually airing some women's college hoops game between Tennessee and Georgia. But even during the game, the FSN-Wisconsin logo is in the corner of the screen. This is potentially awesome, but it's likely just a goof by DTV.

    I heard the news on XM 175 on the way home today. Kind of depressing but not a surprise at all. During the interview (I guess it was just an audio clip that I actually heard), Ben sounded semi-upbeat but also semi-distraught over how his elbow had been hurting him for a while. Holden Kushner was running rampant about how he feels the Brewers should not be on the hook for the surgury. He wasn't Brewer's property anymore. The Brewers tried to give him arbitration and he rejected it, pretty much cutting his ties to the organization. He conceded that, yes, the injury did occur while a member of the Milwaukee Brewers but he left the team to try to get a payday. It's kind of like if I hurt my arm directing my children's choir during the Christmas show then moving to Wisconsin to look for a job, only to discover that my flexor tendon needs surgery from directing too much. My old school district certainly isn't going to pay for that, even though the injury occurred in Arizona. Sure, I should have contacted Workers Comp or something, you could argue. But I didn't.
