    I’d keep Payamps where he is until he proves otherwise. He wasn’t a good pickup, he was a great pickup. Very valuable pitcher. But I agree about Uribe moving ahead of Pegeuro in terms of leverage opportunities. Pegeuro looks shaky even when he’s getting out of situations. He’s faltering with his command. He is apt to pull a pitch way out of his intent. Uribe on the other hand has tremendous upside. I was watching the Chisox feed over the weekend and they were absolutely mesmerized by his stuff. We are talking about Jason Benetti and Steve Stone, not two scrubs. They were effusive in their praise of Uribe. It’s not a little secret among Brewer prospect nerds. His stuff demands attention.

    I get that he’s at a low level but Boeve sure looks like he has a tremendous hit tool. The power has been a pleasant surprise but let’s see if that keeps going. It wasn’t his track record in college.

    It’s way too early to make any pronouncements on Turang. He has always been challenged and adjusts level by level. That’s the stage we are seeing with him right now. We don’t know what it’s going to look like when it comes out of the oven yet. He’s scrawny so I’m not sure he’s going to ever deliver much pop but can he develop a hit tool with OBP, baserunning and defense? I see potential where others see negativity. TBD.

    The Brewers have done a heck of a job making moves without sacrificing the flow of talent with upside in forthcoming years. I would have hated an overpay for a short term gain. You want to see that steady stream of talent joining the big league team, and we did not disrupt that, thankfully. Not every prospect will excel at the MLB level, but it's a numbers game. Give yourself enough solid prospects, and some will emerge. If you trade some off, you fall behind in the numbers game. Short of a Ryan Braun type, there is hardly a guy who is a sure thing. What you want your franchise to do is make shrewd decisions that keeps you on the right side of the odds. Take SS, we are looking at Turang, Zamora, Guillarte, Pratt, Eduardo Garcia. Lot of potential upside. Odds are you can get at least 1-2 solid shortstops out of that mix, and that's a tough skill set to come by. If you do trade away assets, it has to be in favor of value back or a redundancy where you might lose them anyway via Rule 5, etc. I like our approach that we are maintaining the steady stream and trying to keep our numbers in order.

    The Brewers are in process of having a number of prospects graduate to the big league club, into next season, and they are doing a bang up job replenishing the system for the next wave.

    The biggest fish I hope we can keep in our front office is Tod Johnson. He's a bright, organized guy.

    I think Jiminez has a skill set that we lack in the organization. I would be happy to get him even if we had to give up a couple of prospects between 6-15 in our system who are not pitchers. There's some good prospects in the mix there. Mis or Quero is crazy talk though.

    Give Tod Johnson a raise. I think the Brewers exceeded anyone’s expectation with this draft. No one knows how these players will turn out but they did a great job putting us in position to get some hits. They manipulated the draft pool well while still striving for upside even with under slot guys.

    Honestly, that felt like one of the best wins of the year. Hard fought, come from behind, against an outstanding lineup. At the end of the year, I think we look back on this one as one of the most memorable wins of the season.

    If Knoth goes under it’s because it was all worked out ahead of time. As in, he was prepared to go later and the Brewers offered to take him earlier in exchange for lower $ but more than he would have gotten later.

    Interesting. I hadn’t seen that he can touch 98. Looks like he gets great movement. I like a high upside pitcher. We need that.

    Soto…Whitman…Hurley. Maybe McGonigle although I’m not sure about the upside with him.

    I was hoping Colt Emerson got to 33 but that played out to be a fantasy.

    He’s got a rocket arm but may be a stiff athlete. Even if he’s a first baseman, he brings a needed power profile to the system. Let’s hope the hit tool is effective as he approaches the big leagues. Being an advanced college guy helps dampen that risk. He’s got some good performance behind him in the Cape Cod League. Hopefully he can get the strikeouts down.

    The speed and defense are tremendous but he is my least favorite guy too. Fingers crossed.

    Good point. I would like to see us focus on college pitching heavily after the first 3 picks focus on BPA and particularly upside. We landed Burnes and Woody both that way. Draft quantity in terms of college pitchers and some will emerge to one degree or another. The benefit is also that you can spend more early and balance out your budget.

    Waldrep would be great but I am skeptical that he gets there. Love the pitch mix that he has. Troy or Shaw would be solid picks and on the safer side. If we go college outfielder, I’d much prefer Davis over Bradfield. Taking Bradfield would fill the gap from losing Esteury Ruiz which is a skill set Arnold seems to be interested in, and he can have influence with Johnson as they grind through their discussions. The other thing is if some teams above us go for some under slot guys which allows some unexpected players to drop and we can pounce. Maybe somebody drops that we aren’t focused on like Wilson, Dollander, Nimmala, or Gonzalez. I would be happy with Aidan Miller but I haven’t seen us linked there anywhere. I don’t have an opinion as to whether he can stick at third but I’ve read that there is risk there. Very exciting day. That pick at 33 is huge as it’s essentially a second first round pick. Then you add a second round pick, and the Brewers are in a good position to add three names pretty high on our prospect lists which is nice because we have some impending graduations.

    Even though he’s probably going to be a 2b, I could see us running the card up. Excelling at Cape Cod is a huge tell that we will love him. And I agree with that Conversely, I expect that will get Schnauel excluded. You know Tod Johnson has his models and you know he gives Cape Cod data great weight.

    There’s risk here but I love the repertoire. He’d be on my short list.

    My last word. The word simple there was used to point out that you didn’t need an extra base hit or a home run. Somehow you missed the context and decided to make an issue out of me saying it’s easy to get a single. This isn’t helpful on a message board. You didn’t like me being critical and you decided to go low. It’s not needed.

    It’s a stupid argument. I don’t know why you decided to go there. The Cubs reliever was laboring. Two men were on base. You didn’t need a home run. You didn’t need a double. All you needed was a single to win the game. Tellez is your first baseman. That’s a position where you should expect run production. He didn’t deliver. It was the difference in winning or losing the game. None of this is controversial. You got caught up in the semantics of it to try to mock someone else. It’s not necessary. You can chase away other fans from posting. The case also illustrates the importance of batting average and driving in runs. OBP is important too but people who want to outsmart everyone else by pretending that BA is not important need not look any further than that situation. If you can get a hit, you can drive in a run and win the game. A walk doesn’t win the game. From a first baseman, with the game on the line, you want him to knock it in. There’s no randomness to it. That’s the exact situation he’s paid to perform in.
