  1. Also, what is the data after one TJ injury? Are you susceptible to a second?
  2. Splitter, I look forward to your posts. If the Brewers took one of the injured pitchers, what would the financials look like? Would we have the money to pay our other high picks? I really covet a high end starter. Last year we were very smart with our money. How did we do it? Spend more at the top and less in the middle rounds? Could we do that again?
  3. I'm not interested in any of those packages from San Diego. I see 2014 as an outlier bad year for Segura due to a variety of mitigating factors. He's an impact middle infielder. That's major value. He's still young and under control. I'm keeping him, and strongly considering him at second to pair with Arcia who is laughably underrated as a prospect nationally. If you think there isn't a bias against small market Midwest teams, look no further than Arcia. He'd be a top 30 prospect if he was in an I-95 system. I like Arcia and Segura as a tandem. Sure, we need to rebuild, but Segura is young enough to be part of the rebuild. I like proven quality over unknown quantity and Segura is in the process of proving quality as a top of the order impact middle infielder.
  4. Thank you, Colby and splitter. Great information. Four top picks will be fun to watch, similar to last year. If we do well with them and hit on a couple of internationals, we could have a really fun farm system, with sadly some high draft picks coming to fortify the guys we have now. I like the high ceiling approach like we did last year. Honestly, you will miss on a bunch anyway, just statistically. Baseball picks by definition require a lot of misses. So you will have the Mark Rogers, Dave Krynzel, JM Gold, Mike Jones types. Personally, I think a guy like Monte Harrson can be greater than or equal to a Lorenzo Cain.
  5. What do you guys think about Chris Betts to the Brewers? He seems like a positional need and the type of guy we might like. There was a catcher prospect last year that we just missed that seemed really intriguing. Scouting reports: http://www.perfectgame.org/players/playerprofile.aspx?ID=321924 Dustin DeMuth is fine and who knows Tucker Neuhaus may put it together but we need some 3b prospects too, badly. Catcher and 3b seem like the biggest emergencies along with high end starters. 2b, 1b, and everything else etc next Overall, I forgot, don't we have some extra compensatory picks? What other picks do we have in the top 75? I think we are starting to reload nicely but need to accelerate now.
  6. 1. Garza is not going to put up with any crap from anyone today. Period. 2. I'd like to see Rogers at 3b. I am glad Ramirez is sitting either way, but I'd like to see Rogers.
  7. Great news about Kodi Medieros - wow! 18 years old at class A. Very interested to see how he flashes from here on out. I think the staff did a great job handling him yesterday. I'm very optimistic on Monte Harrison. Watch out if he puts it together. Lorenzo Cain plus. Glad to see Dustin DeMuth show some life with 3 hits. He should be a fairly advanced bat by now. Jed Bradley. Yikes. 4 earned runs. Make or break year. I hadn't given up on him yet but c'mon now. Don't want to squander our number one picks while the Cardinals draft Shelby Miller, Michael Wacha, and Lance Lynn. Hitting on those first round pitchers can make all the difference.
  8. Honestly, I can see Segura moving to 3rd and letting Sardinas and then Arcia take short. Let's hope Segura has a decent year with the stick, and it may just work for him to move. There just aren't a ton of young 3b available. That is, unless Jiminez explodes, which I doubt.
  9. 1. Orlando Arcia 2. Clint Coulter 3. Monte Harrison 4. Gilbert Lara 5. Tyrone Taylor 6. Kodi Medieros 7. Devin Williams 8. Corey Knebel 9. Taylor Williams 10. Jake Gatewood 11. Taylor Jungmann 12. Wei-chung Wang 13. Miguel Diaz 14. Jorge Lopez 15. David Goforth 16. Jed Bradley 17. Marcos Diplan 18. David Denson 19. Jason Rogers 20. Kyle Wren 21. Damien Magnifico 22. Victor Roache 23. Yadiel Rivera 24. Dustin Demuth 25. Tyler Wagner
  10. It sounds like Boras wants a lot for K-Rod. I hope we don't overpay for either K-Rod or Papelbon. We need to keep our top 10-12 prospects. Jorge Lopez has a nice arm. Jungmann can't be given up on yet. "Miami has spoken with Scott Boras about free agent Francisco Rodriguez, who had 44 saves for Milwaukee in 2014, but they’re asking for more than what Miami is willing to pay." 11. The Dodgers also have phenom prospect Corey Seager who is a stud ss/3B still baking in the oven.
  12. Moncada at 3rd, Braun at 1st, Coulter in right. Arcia at short. Re-sign Luc. Khris Davis and Gennett are young. Potentially Tyrone Taylor in center. We could have a smooth transition to the next generation of talent if we are bold. Stay good like the Cards have done.
  13. I wonder how deep into this the Crew is? You talk about filling a major need? There is your answer at 3b, and he bats left handed. This would be a heck of an investment by the Brewers.
  14. Excellent summation, Fondy. I might add needing the bullpen depth to gel. I like some of the bullpen, but the last 2-3 spots are questionable IMO.
  15. I'd keep Sardinas unless there is a considerable overpay involved. When Arcia is ready, we may be able to make a deal from a surplus. But not yet.
  16. Soriano imploded the second half of last season. It was so bad that he got demoted from the closer's role. Nats fans were really down on him. http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/nationals-journal/wp/2014/09/06/rafael-soriano-out-as-closer-for-now-nationals-could-use-several-relievers-for-saves/
  17. Article from Texas perspective. Indicates an infielder and a pitcher. http://rangersblog.dallasnews.com/2015/01/potential-gallardo-to-texas-rangers-deal-makes-sense.html/
  18. I wonder if the delay in hearing the haul is that the clubs are trying to notify the players involved.
  19. http://www.bostonglobe.com/sports/2014/12/14/major-league-teams-always-wonder-whether-they-did-enough/QZPIQPpUESa8wldXu09OJP/story.html I agree with the comment that we should not have to give up much for Craig. High salary and a part time player. The Bosox should be happy we would take him off their hands.
  20. You never know, Demuth could be a Matt Carpenter type of success story. Carpenter wasn't a decorated prospect. More likely, though, Demuth ends up a backup infielder. He was behind Scwarber and Travis in college.
  21. I feel like we really need an advanced 3b who is near ready. Someone to take over in '16 but possibly could jump in in '15 in case Aramis breaks down, which is a distinct possibility at his age. I'd make this a component to a trade. The Dodgers may sign Lester so they may not be an option. I don't know where the Bosox are relative to trading for Hamels. Supposedly the Phillies want Bogaerts. In any event, dealing Lohse or Gallardo is risky because Nelson showed that he needs to develop a 3rd pitch to become a solid pitcher. He doesn't have enough of a dominant arm to rely on a couple of pitches. Hopefully he's getting there. Taylor Jungmann is interesting for 2016 too. I'm anxious to see how he does in Colorado Springs. We could have a very young staff in '16 other than Garza. I've never really given up on Jed Bradley. He was exposed to the rule 5 draft but he seems unlikely to be taken. As a lefty, maybe he can still get his act together.
  22. I've felt for awhile the Bosox could be a good trade partner for the Crew. They may be interested in Gallardo or Lohse. Bring back a young left side of the infield kid like Garin Cecchini or Will Middlebrooks, plus one of their front line starting rotation prospects. Cecchini and Middlebrooks have struggled but may be able to turn it around.
  23. Good call, Brewers AA. Too bad it didn't happen back when you suggested it.
  24. Anyone have a good scouting report on Lind? Is he patient? What's his walk rate? Is he first pitch free swinger or is patient up there?
  25. I think this is a great point, DHonks. I'd expect Luc to get more and more work at 1b defensively in spring training. He's not exactly a prototypical 1b and needs some work.
