  1. If you apply the 2025 projected picks for the Brewers to the 2024 draft slot values then the Brewers would have the 5th largest bonus pool.
  2. Hate to say it but this has the Cubs written all over it.
  3. If the whole goal is to keep the postseason window constantly open it doesn't make sense to consolidate assets into Crochet. Having said that I do remember leading up to the 2020 draft the Brewers were linked to Crochet heavily. Upside-Stuff is unreal, very cheap projected arbitration number this year. Downside-2 years of control and durability concerns. It is not like we have a surplus of young talent like the Orioles last year. In a perfect world that will happen soon if just a handful of infield prospects build on their seasons from last year.
  4. I hope the Dodgers and Mets sign everybody. The more they break baseball the more there is a chance the playing field will be leveled. Steve Cohen could hand out 5 of these and still not feel any pain. When you have a contract that is around the Brewers majority owner's net worth it is a harsh reality on the economics of baseball.
  5. Disappointed the Brewers never won a playoff series with Willy on the team. I am happy he got paid but Brewers fans would turn on him a couple of years into that contract. I am concerned about whether we can replace his presence. I never felt that way after we traded Burnes and Hader. Two guys that probably weren't close to the type of leader Willy was. Sometimes It feels like with the Brewers I am cheering for an investment portfolio who always is in tune with what is the best for long term sustainability. It takes the human element out of what makes the sport fun. Willy's personality will be missed.
  6. Love the guy but this message board would turn on him by year 4 at the latest if the Brewers did this deal.
  7. To refresh peoples memories of why they had the team option in the first place. The Brewers and Williams were heading towards arbitration last year. Since they missed the original deadline to avoid the hearing the only way for them to not have the hearing was for the Brewers to give him a multi year deal. Brewers will probably trade Williams but I personally believe it won't have anything to do with player sourness towards the Brewers not picking up the option.
  8. It was clear Williams had nothing left. It was a no brainer to pull him to not only win the game but keeping Williams health in mind.
  9. Maybe I am in the minority but I think Hoskins coming back is an okay contingency. Yes on the open market Rhys would probably make less but I am bullish on him next year at the plate with another year removed from that ACL injury. It is going to be really hard to replace Adames's power on the left side of the infield and having Rhys come back at least gives us some stability in that regard.
  10. Feel like there might be a pulse with Ashby here in his past few outings. He is finally getting back to that spike curve ball. I hope he can end the season on a positive note.
  11. I think people underrate how much relationships with scouts matter especially with high school kids. Both Bitonti and Pratt reportedly had deep rooted connections with our the individual area scouts who scouted them. The way the Cooper Pratt thing went down last year is something we may never see again as Brewer fans. No matter how he pans out we were really lucky that happened and I think we are projecting our frustration from the early returns of 2023 onto what has happened with this draft. I get why people don't like the Braylon Payne pick but I also don't get why people don't talk about the tools he has. If you read his scouting report it reads almost the exact same as Garrett Mitchell's in high school. It gets a little annoying when people think he is just a slap hitter and that is all he ever will be. I guarantee the Brewers don't project him as a slap hitter. And he has the frame to grow into.
  12. They've not used up the 5% overage before. I believe that happened in 2019 where they didn't even spend up to the bonus pool assigned to them let alone the 5% overage. Also happened in 2018 where they didn't spend to 5% overage the limit but did go over the pool assigned to them.
  13. Could we make him into a reliever like we did with Pomeranz in 2019? Seems like that would be his best use right now.
  14. Man he's gotten his lunch handed to him in July. Coming off the shoulder injury he could be running out of gas. Unless they want to use him in short stints?
  15. Junis can't go more than 2 innings and we probably needed to offset the salaries as best as we could. And the only spot Wiemer would thrive in already has Blake Perkins doing more than an adequate job as a reserve outfielder.
  16. This is starting to feel like 2014.
  17. Well there is one. 4/39 in July coming into tonight really has taken the shine off him.
  18. Is Joey Ortiz ever going to get a hit again?
  19. Is Herrera rule 5 eligible this offseason? Genuinely curious because it would not have been ideal for the Brewers to put him on the 40 man next year.
  20. I like the trade. Hope I am allowed to like it. A little leery of of the FIP and ERA difference. People said the same thing about Taylor Rogers and we saw how that turned out.
  21. Yes the Brewers would get pick 68 next year if he does not sign.
