  2. After watching the replay looks like it was a breaking ball off his elbow pad. With the game tied late they wanted a pinch runner with speed. So deep breaths everybody I think he will be fine.
  3. Right, I highly doubt he is near the bottom of the league in whatever defensive metric the Brewers are using. He would be in AAA if that were the case.
  4. I like this draft better than last year, assuming they only sign a few guys who have the option to go to college from rounds 11-20. Losing Levonas and not using the full pool bothered me last year. people always bring up the 2023 draft but I reiterate that is like once a decade draft. The relationship our two scouts had with Pratt and Bitonti simply cannot be taken for granted. The whole Pratt situation was a huge break for the brewers and since their scout had a great relationship we got to pounce. That is why I love the brewers current setup. They trust their analytical modeling but they also still seem to be able to put emphasis on the human side of the game. I also love the drafting of cold weather state high school pitchers. Idk whether it’s the trust of these particular scouts or the lack of wear and tear on the kids arms. Or a combination of both. But I find it interesting. Also if you are 17 the day of the draft there is a good chance the brewers are going to take you. I love that approach as well because it really gives these kids an extra 2 years to figure it out.
  5. My choice would be Otto Lopez from the Marlins. 4.5 years of control. Good defensive metrics for both oaa and drs. Doesn’t strike out a ton. Seems like a brewer to me. I know the whole point of this exercise is to raise the ceiling of the team but I just want competency.
  6. I am totally against trading Wilken, What he was doing after a bad April was impressive. Let it be a reminder that he did have a brutal face injury last year. As long as he is fine with the glove I could care less if he is a 3TO player. If he was MLB ready, he would be exactly what our lineup needs. Also in my opinion Boeve can't play an adequate 3B. Adams is more athlete than 3B at this point.

  8. Not to mention 28 Million of that 188 Million is deferred whereas Bryce Harper got 20 Million in immediate signing bonuses.
  9. Funny how much hate the Braylon Payne pick got and now he will have a ton of helium if he keeps this up
  10. I think I am more disappointed that the Brewers couldn't help him develop a new pitch like the White Sox seemed to have done. I don't like being outclassed by the White Sox.
  11. Matt Arnold's comments on Priester. “Having that kind of experience at a young age – how many guys have we seen come up to the Major League level and hit a roadblock over the years with us?” Arnold said. “Whether that’s Woody or Corbin Burnes or Freddy [Peralta], they all hit bumps along the way and they were all extremely talented. “That’s what we believe we’re getting, not to put any unfair pressure on the kid here. But he really does have a great arm with a lot of good ingredients. There's a lot to like here. From all accounts, he is a really cerebral kid and open to making adjustments.” https://www.mlb.com/brewers/news/brewers-quinn-priester-trade
  12. I remember being mad when the Padres plucked Miguel Diaz from the Brewers in 2017. After that experience I think it would be really hard for me to get upset about losing someone through the Rule-5 Draft. I like Shane Smith as a reliever. I was mildly surprised we didn't protect him. But if there is one thing I am confident in with the Brewers it is their ability to evaluate and get above and beyond results from relievers. Happy for Shane though seems like he has an extra gear on his stuff to start Spring.
  13. If you told me at the end of last year that he would actually have the capability to be confident enough to throw a slider and cutter in spring training I would have been thoroughly impressed. His glove side pitches last year were barely usable in the minor leagues. Props to him for working on it.
  14. I wanted Quintana all off-season. You need 10 starters to get through a season. I probably would have overpaid him considering what he ended up getting.
  15. In the Rosenthal article it mentions that a front office member on the basis of anonymity that they were asked to seriously consider getting rid of Civale and Payamps because of their salaries. 1) Good luck thinking we are making some sort of add to our roster before the season starts 2) How long can we maintain our competitive advantage in the front office? You have to think it catches up to us at some point. I have no basis for it but I worry about Arnold getting a Stearns like offer from somewhere else.
  16. Hard not to get chills watching this. The old school part of me still says don't go crazy off of DSL numbers, but with the evidence they lay out it is really hard not to. The fact they went through the hypothetical of him being the consensus 1.1 in next years draft is crazy.
  17. Really disappointing if what Ken alludes to in the article comes to fruition. He mentions Dunn and Durbin splitting 3b duties. I wonder when we will lose Matt Arnold to a bigger market. We can't even afford payrolls bigger than the ones we had in the early 2010's.
  18. I actually like the system, probably because it is favorable to the Brewers who are a small market that tries to compete every year. On the off chance we don't make the playoffs we at least have a small probability to hop in the top 6. I do feel bad for fans of teams that have horrible ownership like the White Sox, Marlins, Pirates, etc. Scouting and development have become even more important under the new format because you can't be bailed out by a guaranteed run of top 5 picks. Horrible owners just don't invest in the scouting and development to their own detriment.
  19. I am not happy that I called this one. Cubs probably just acquired the best projected position player in the NL Central for 2025.
  20. Monasterio had 1 sb a .411 babip and a 28.5 strikeout rate Durbin had 29 sb a .297 babip and a 9.9 strikeout rate I get your point. to me ones wRC+ seems more translatable than the other. Durbin in an ideal world would be Monasterio's replacement. Really hope its not going to be the Oliver Dunn and Caleb Durbin show at 3B.
  21. Where we are supposed to be. Playoff teams are locked into their spot.
