  1. In poker when you miss a hand and take a loss then overbet/try too hard the next time it is called going FULL TILT... Nationals lost their closer to SF, didn't get a bid in on Sale, and have now gone FULL TILT on Eaton. Stearns is a cooler head than that.
  2. Shaw is supposed to be defensively savvy...and Villar had 0 errors in 11 games at 2B (12 E in 42 games at 3B)... Twitter noted that Shaw is moving from a hard park for LHH to an easy park for LHH...that is for us as well.
  3. Why wouldn't Dubon be at AAA at 22? Arcia is in the bigs at 21. NShaw and YRivera won't hold back a kid with those OPS numbers in the Eastern League. BTW, Arcia has 7 games at 2B under his MLB belt. Young and slick up the middle...
  4. I like what JosephC said here, "I think this is a pretty good deal for both sides. Thornburg doesn't have an extensive track record but has been a plus-reliever outside of some control issues in 2014. At 28 years old he is probably one year into the five best years of his career. The Brewers net three players for a relief pitcher. One will likely step into a starting role at third base, one appears to have a good chance of being a future middle infield starter and the third is a big-arm lottery ticket. Rebuilding teams will take three-for-a-reliever deals all day long." TT was a luxury (if you disagree I would like to point out that he was easily moved--like JJ and Will Smith) and this team is NOT competing with Thames at first...we are still trying to figure out who are players and who has value. I see Braun being moved if since this was done very early. Flood the system and force talent up through the ranks.
  5. And to think that I got blasted for offering MReed, Gennett, and Fiers for Hunter Renfroe...sheesh...
  6. I agree with HighHeat19... Current CLE package better than anything coming out of NYM...looks like I was right about GAllen and Mejia last week! I said it would be YDiaz but it was Chang...which is even better...would have loved to have Tristan MacK...but the market is the market. Brewer fans look at Lucroy like a mansion and want a million dollars for it...but if the only offers are 750K then you live in a 750K house...
  7. Ken Rosenthal ‏@Ken_Rosenthal 58s59 seconds ago Source: #Brewers getting fourth player from #Indians for Lucroy, lesser prospect. No other players heading to CLE.
  8. Lucroy to CLE for FMejia - c, Tristan MacKenzie - RHP, GAllen - OF, YDiaz - 3B Young enough to make Stearns happy...4 for 1 and well positioned depth to come in and do well in decent positions. Many here will think it's too low (not enough top 100 prospects AS OF NOW)...but I am trying to get away from a home team bias... thoughts?
  9. Yordano Ventura of KC has kind of worn out his welcome and is a nice buy low candidate at 25 with an electric fastball. He has some salary and years on his contract (control) ahead to go with an ERA going in the wrong direction. However, if KC is calling and DS wanted him, what would be the trade bait?
  10. Seems like AHill could be part of a larger trade (like some relievers) to add in value coming back.
  11. With 5 picks in the top 120ish this is what I was thinking too...
  12. If Sterns is dead set on getting pitching coming back in any possible Braun or Lucroy trade instead of getting the best player available...isn't this setting the stage for taking a position of need over the best player available in the draft? Aside from the obvious time between transaction and potential MLB call up, what is the difference in passing on BPA for pitching in trades and doing so in the draft?
  13. Just gauging worth...as for why the Padres would make the trade? They seem to trade everyone else that has a shot at helping the team...why not this guy. But I do understand how this position doesn't fit our current needs.
  14. San Diego's Renfroe, Hunter plays RF is 24 at AAA and hitting .313/ .333/ .594/.928 So what would it take to get him now out of our system? Doesn't walk a lot but has 12 HRs... Thoughts?
  15. Hats off to Denson, unlike JCollins in the NBA or MSam in the NFL, this kid has an up and coming career and happens to be gay. I wish him well and wish that he could also come out as a MLB caliber 3B too.
  16. Start him. If he is Fiers part two then he is in play next year. If he bombs then that #1 pick gets closer. Lohse has full Suppan'd and it's time to move on.
  17. The Devin at Brevard Co was Devin Williams and Angel Ventura was not anticipated on the 40.
  18. Opening Day rotations (listings are not in #1 starter on down/in no particular order) MKE-- Garza, Jungmann, Nelson, Peralta, (one of AAA starters or FA signee) Colo Springs-- Davies, Hader, JLopez, Cravy, Wagner, (Hobbs starts if one is moved to MKE starting lineup, otherwise AAA bullpen) Biloxi-- JOrtega, Salas, Hirsch, Wang, Woodruff, with Houser moved to the bullpen (Taylor Williams would have gone here) Brevard Co-- Kodi, Devin, NKirby, Ponce, and Sneed (Since it is pitcher friendly in FL, I see them moving up together.) Wisconsin piggybacks so all these guys will get 4 innings of work-- Perrin, CTrent, DCarver, Wuilder Rodriguez, Diplan, Walters, Kole, Drossner, Hanfold, MDiaz, CLuna, Yamamoto, Desguin, any other 2015 draftee with a pulse If you don't see a starter here (Suter, Brooks Hall, Thornburg, Hellweg) then they were not kept on the 40 or moved to the bullpen. Where am I wrong, who did I misplace or overestimate...?
  19. That is fair if you add the WAR of Parra while in Milwaukee.
  20. With the hand issues, his contract and the need to have him at a low impact position, and the increased talent in the OF that is greater than 1B prospects (Clark, Ramirez, Rogers). How long before Braun is moved to 1B and is this a good idea?
  21. Yerison Pena has proven himself to be a dominant player at his age and in that league... Why isn't he getting pushed to do more? It is almost like they are sandbagging him against the 40 and he is being hidden for now.
  22. He will get a shot to be a player. Ceiling? He will be measured against Hobbs, Strong, Seidenberger as lefties and other long relievers on the whole. He doesn't have enough to punch through like JLopez, Cravy, or Wagner (and those are low end rotation guys that will be drafted over and traded over given the chance).
  23. Dominquez is not a nice option...he has been overrated since he entered the league and was given to us for free for a reason. His SkySox stats skew his worth. Home splits .387/.433/.516/.949 vs Road splits .154/.228/.250/.478 But I do agree that if Lind is going to stay that JRogers needs some 3B time to see if that lovely bat can play there. Good luck to Aramis, at least his last few months will be with a contender and in a familiar city.
  24. Like many others here I see Brady Clark...as a ceiling. Less so is more likely. I think he would be a good #5 OF that could play all the OF positions and a decent deal at pre-arby wages.
  25. And That and Raw Biz, I am leaning your way. I think that there will be a lot of guys that are 40 worthy, but not really starters on the MLB level. I see GM DM moving these guys and packaging them in trades at the deadline.
