  1. Mlbtr says White Sox will beat 5-100 put him down for 5-120
  2. While extremely unrealistic, I mean this is a "s-ton". If for some reason the Rays were to offer Snell/Glasnow and McKay, then that would be something you have to entertain. Even then, it feels light-ish for a guy who legitimately could contend for a batting title yearly for the next decade. Snell and Glasnow =8yrs expensive control. Hiura has 6yrs with 2 of them to be expensive. Though doesnt Tampa have a set 2b of their own? Both Snell and recently Glasnow had Ace like seasons, but surrounded by #3 or worse other seasons. There's 0 doubt Hiura being a .300+ batter over the next 6 years. In other words Hiura is sell low and Snell/Glasnow are sell high.
  3. Both. Snell and Glasnow and I can approve. Legit Hiura may become a .400 hitter approaching 40HRs yearly. And you control that for 6yrs before talking extension. He's going to be among top 10 hitters in baseball.
  4. You know the reason this is happening is because of 1day and Super 2 staus. Without it, the discussions arent happening. With another RP of the year type season in 2020, whats that dollar amount going to? 8-9mil? With 2more yrs of increasing salary to come. After all the cuts yesterday there are options at 3b/1b. Gotta find a co_#1 with Eoodruff in the making. (Or I suppose with 2yrs of control) Madtown to your comment- Kneble, still have Burnes, Peralta all on bouncebacks in the RP roll from day could produce a solid finishing group. Peralta is really where Im going to fill Hader's departure. Another draft pick trade? If it got late and the team was looking barren in RP.
  5. Maikel Franco was a guy for 3b I'd consider. If we didnt land someo e big there via trade or Rendon. He played 11games at 1b. Has sorta .740OPS splits from both sides. You may say those numbers are low but lets remember his division has had Max Scherzer. Thor, Strasburg, Wheeler, plus ToR/Cy Young types hes had to face more often than the avg 3b. Not sure if this would also be a contract year(que Moose pt2) and playing in NL Central at AmFam park may fit him to above .800 OPS on both handed sides. Another is Taijuan Walker. SP returning from TJ for 1IP in last game of the season. I think he's a below 4ERA type. Just not sure on 150+IP reliability.
  6. What if during talks with the Padres in the Davies/Urias trade, the Padres inquired if Stearns would yrade Hader? And gave him an example what they'd offer. And say Stearns in the back of his mind, would accept that. But if SD would offer him that, what might another team offer him? And the word now gets out he's willing to trade Hader. You know the Padres have the prospect capitol to entice a Hader trade proposal.
  7. Here we go. You may want to follow one of the top 8markets in baseball. Not one in the bottom 5.
  8. Hey, one last caveat on Cease. He was trade by the Cubs in the deal for Jose Quintana. How about carving up the Cubs h2h with Cease. Looking at his Fangraphs, Cease throws 4pitches. An upper 90s FB, A big time 12-6 Curve, slider and changeup. The writeup on him they did when he was called up was as a mid-rotation type with All Star years ahead of him. You'd have a Woodruff, Cease, Lauer beginning to your rotation for seasons to come.
  9. This would be a bad trade but if it was really the case, I'd decline McCann and tell the White Sox to keep him. He's due likely about $6 million in arbitration next year, offsetting the Hader savings and then some...and he's not nearly as good of a hitter as his numbers were last year. That was a huge aberration. Cease is former top25 prospect that had his first cup of tea of MLB experience. Good chance at being a ToR SP with 6yrs control and ready to go for 2020. McCann is just something better to add to the C situation. Maybe you'd ask for someone else added since youre not liking the idea? You're countering the McCann expense by inserting a SP making preArb. Vs paying some money for a FA out there. Rather than a huge contract to Wheeler, you have a Wheeler or better in the making at peanuts
  10. What if the Brewers took Dylan Cease and the catcher Mccann from the White Sox?
  11. thats not happening. i am fine for asking for the moon, but I don't think the mets would do alonso for hader straight up even. I think Alonso cant provide any higher value than what he did last season. 161games. Just over .900OPS as every bit his history has been. 25yrs old. Truth is if that is his ceiling, is that enough in return? He's only 10HRs and 10BBs away from his numbers looking pedestrian. Hader can improve no doubt with improvement on a 2nd pitch. In 2018 I believe his slider was used more often and it was filthy when located. Unhittable. An Alonso type of player is what the team needs in return. Im not restocking the farm for Hader. I'm improving the 2020 roster from day 1. To me this is the only reason Stearns is open for discussion. I think the SP, 1b/3b, and C needs are not to his liking whats readily out there. So he's going to pluck from another team's 25man roster.
  12. Any deal with the Mets, Im asking for Alonso at 1b. That is the kind of necessary get imo. Not their blocked corner IF. They arent blocked when you send Alonso over.
  13. Im going WI vs Utah Rose Bowl. If its not Utah then PSU goes to the Rose Bowl. Arent we the historical team to face upstarts that are jilted? Miami, Western Michigan, TCU going back. If there isnt that team then the SEC matchup. Whenever its not the SEC matchup, I feel its a lose-lose game. Win and that opponent was frauds. Lose and get wrecked in the polls. Didnt the Badgers fall in the rankings one of the Miami wins or Western Michigan win? Auburn would be Wisconsin's best interest in final polls with a bowl win.
  14. Im going to guess 24.5.
  15. Avila is a very low BA (.207) with a high whiff rate (32%). He walked a lot against RH pitching, but the high strikeout rate and very low BA is a problem with a team that already whiffs at an extremely high rate. Oh and I knew there was a previous Avila mention. 32% k rate does result in a low BA. But Id imagine majority of Catchers are around there. Career he throws out 30% of baserunners. Ive beaten this in the past of Catchers being poor and having a poor one right along with 90% of the league isnt going to cost you too many games. D'Arnaud I'm pretty sure was a top 3 in Baseball prospect rank. Been a dud. Your also looking at 60-110 games played in arguing on the position. Varsho from Ariz may not have Abs above AA but the team still has Nottingham to pass the time for some AAA experience.
  16. Hmm, loaded up a Catcher 2019 ranking. Narvaez had a 17% CS rate. Worse than Vogt while run on about 3times the amount. Grandall beat Pina in that category. 27-25%. A name that pops near the top of the list is Alex Avila who threw out 11 outta 21 attempts. He's been around and takes his share a walks to consiately be above .300OB. 4.2mil last ur for Arz. Avila is a roller coaster OPS in his years. From the looks of it, he'd be my choice if we end up with a beteran Catcher. Even if it came at a 2yr deal. It's not likely over 5mil a yr. And you can trade that. Lefty platoon is also a plus.
  17. I agree completely. Forget Rendon. If Stearns is looking to spend big money, spend it on Moose (3/$33M) - Wheeler (4/$80 with a 5th year including buyout) - Bentances (2/$12M). Could have all three for the money mentioned for one year of Rendon. Until Moose signs for 4-50, Wheeler 4-96, and Betances for 3-21. I think after Pomerance's deal, Grandal's etc, the cost is higher than what is believed until we reach the new year.
  18. My phone has a News page to flip to. In my most recent check of the news was a video by a guy who seemed like a Padres fan reviewing recent moves in MLB. He talked how Urias was a top ep prospect, #1 in 2018 for 2b apparently over Hiura. And then that his defense is good enough for SS or via what he read on him. So I'll just plug him in to SS and wait to find out. The takes here seemed to favor he was a 2b first SS in a pinch.
  19. I imagine he still has an option remaining. He'll probably spend enough time in the minors where his clock winds back to Super 2 status, but another year of control before Free Agency. I was all for an extension so long ago it's probably on the 1st page. I thought he'd grow and become the Brewers own version of Derek Jeter. This versus holding him down in the minors for control/Super 2 concerns. With how many top prospects flame out, the practice to keep their prospect down until after a certain date in June is annoying to me, just like not playing guys in Sept if your team isn't in a playoff hunt. You want to have extra control of this player, then give the guy an extension and pay him, vs manipulate the system.
  20. Can you ever stop ********? Look Stearns made a move. It improves the team going forward. But here you are shutting it down Nov 27th because it doesnt fill your top priority. Every single offseason for 3?years now Stearns cant live up to your Madden NFL Trade Skills. How did Darvish do? Arrieta? Who else? Your complaints like 3dozen others to have made the comment, Replacing Grandal, improve Starting Pitching, Find a 1b better than any that exists currently. Is Noted. For the thousandth time. Your speaking to a large crowd here that knows not only Baseball but likely more about the Brewers' needs than you do. Just go Meh from here on out when every move you have problem with Because it isnt your #1 priority. This addresses easily, what should be 2 of the top 5 in priorities. I dont think Arcia is #1 at SS now after this. He's the hybrid 2b/SS even 3b backup now. Lauer gives the Brewers a LH SP that has been missing and lamented for numerous times now. Basically swapped 1st rd picks and somehow got a promising SS for a #4 type of starter at best. What the hell is your problem?? I also said it's early yet and let's see what the rest of the off season brings. If you don't think they don't need an equivalent or better upgrade to Grandal's bat, or a top of the rotation arm, then you obviously DON'T know baseball or what the brewers needs are. There is still time to get those things. I said that. That being said, I do believe in some aspects in a market like Milwaukee, if you have free agent pursuits, your BEST avenue to get who you want is to bid early, stay aggressive with that player(players), DON'T go cheap and hope that said player(s) is willing to take your early offer for fear of getting less if he waits or not as much security. To me, the longer you wait, the MORE chance there is, it becomes a bidding war, which you simply won't win. It's the old, early bird gets the worm theory. You may not need to utilize this strategy if you aren't pursuing big time guys, but IF(and we have no way of knowing) you are pursuing a Rendon or Cole, or Wheeler, that everyone else is waiting out..get in early and hope it works. I'll apologize slightly on that remark, you lead off so strongly with your comment, I skimmed the rest because. Here's this guy doing what he does. I guess what I read after didn't translate properly in my head. "what in my post was saying I didn't like the trade?? " this does NOTHING to fill the hole left by Grandal's bat leaving. Urias might be a slight upgrade over Arcia(potential for more in the future), but they still need to get another big bat or two You had full capitol letters (ie screaming!) NOTHING. Dem fightin words when I read it that way. Also a poster mentioned the PTBNL being that the Padres select Zach Brown in the rule 5 and give him back to us if so. I feel like that would be breaking a rule. For a team to help another team that way. And another question, If the potential ptbnl is a rule 5 from the Padres, why would it have to wait through the rule 5 draft? Since Zach Brown is eligible, is Stearns no longer able to use him in a trade between now and the day of the rule 5 draft?
  21. Wait, you think the current 2020 team is already better than the 2019 team? We lost Grandal, and probably Moose, and you think the way the team sits right now, on November 28th, with no 1B, 3B, and a major hit to the catcher position, is better? ummm k. Yes in terms of Davies and Grisham vs Urias and Lauer. You misunderstood the comment as the entire team's production vs just the 2v2.
  22. Looking at Fangraphs and pitch types, I feel the Brewers traded a RH Davies for a LH version of Davies with 1MPH increase in velocity. Currently Lauer throws a 3 pitch mix FB, CT, CB and rare Change up. Davies went from that mix with a slider prior to 2019 and then threw 84% FB/CH last season. Lauer was close to 150IP last year in less appearances than Davies who had just shy of 160. Fangraphs oddly had Lauer being worth more last season than Davies like 16 to 12mil. And Steamer has Davies being worse next season while Lauer improves just a little. In Urias it's gotta be all about the On Base pct over Arcia. Higher last season than Arcia's and over 50pts higher in a near equal amount around 2400 career PA in the minors. I think the team for 2020 is quite a bit better after this trade than the 2019 production. A Left Handed Starting Pitcher done set for at least 3-4seasons? Superb.
  23. Can you ever stop ********? Look Stearns made a move. It improves the team going forward. But here you are shutting it down Nov 27th because it doesnt fill your top priority. 24. So the DBacks signed Vogt. They have better catchers at their disposal?
  25. Yeah, I find it fairly amazing how quick to want to dump a Gold Glove CF because he's being paid for production that he exceeded and made him a near 7WAR player in 2018, because 2019 he didn't achieve 3WAR. Check his stats, he's had an off season in the past. and rebounded better than before. Who you going to replace him with in CF that produces 3+WAR on an average? With GG defense? I get the Braun and age regression.(though he did have a 116+OPS+last season) Let Cain be. His value whether an overpay or not is worth it.
