  1. Both have had promising Spring Game Stats in line or better than last season's numbers. Also, what did Aguilar do the final 6 weeks that he can't do this season? He hit fewer HRs on average the last 6 weeks than he had hit before those final 6 weeks. You're talking an OPS that went from about .940-.950 to end of season .890. So at that stage for 6 weeks he must have been around an .840 OPS hitter to have that late season OPS reduce to .890. By the game logs it doesn't look like it was BA, just less power and a lower OB of only 10 pts to his season up to those 6 weeks. .360-.352 roughly. You take his 2017 and 2018 overall the stats are about on point. He's in for around 30HRs 90+ RBIs. So what is exactly your estimate for Aguilar this season?
  2. 2019 Brewers Predictions Win-Loss Record:96-66 Playoffs (Yes, No):No doubt Highest Playoff Level Achieved: World Series, 7game tbd All-Star Game Representative(s): Yelich is obvious. Hader easy. Grandal on acct of LA voters plus Milwaukee voters. Shaw or Aguilar will be one of those vote in to the AS game and not get in. Offensive Player of the Year: Yelich continues his 2nd half performance of 2018 for his 2019 season Starting Pitcher of the Year: Chacin. Why? Because he is the glue to this rotation. He holds up the rotation filled with young starters in their first season as Starters. Relief Pitcher of the Year: Josh Hader may be the Relief pitcher of all time so clearly the RPOY. Most Surprising Player: Yasmani Grandal. HR power and OB skills will improve this offense more than anyone would think. Most Disappointing Player: Moustakas. The reason behind this is 2b defense, lack of offensive production, and Hiura being held down in AAA when he goes off as the season goes on and should be obviously playing on the ML team over the Moose.
  3. Bulaga may start and play, but hes constantly playing through injury. It comes at a cost in certain games where hes just beaten but too often bailed out by Rodgers ability to escape the pocket. Now does that mean im putting Turner in his spot? No. I think the read on Turner is guard starter with backup Tackle. I can see the signings meaning a 1st pick Tackle to move on from Bulaga and Turner as depth as needed. Your idea on trading him is a very draft day valid possibility. You get #1 or #2 OT at 12 that is BPA on your board, im sure you can find a 4th or 5th round pick for Bulaga. In response on Little, the read seems to be he was like a 5star college recruit that has the tools just not put 5 star results. Must be upside beliefs(top 15 pick) vs continual disappointing game play beliefs(2-3rd pick) i feel like the consensus is OT/TE or TE and best OT left at that point. Little must be that player as that mock proceeds.
  4. The thing im looking at Wilson with regard to finishing game experience, are games that are 3run+ deficits/leads. He doesnt have to be a 5th/6th inning guy only. Useful in a situation when given the ball to finish a game not close, vs using Hader/Kneble/Jeffress. Saving Albers, and Williams/Barnes whom Im uncomfortable in that role.
  5. They're all wearing different shirts. By the numbers this seems for an AL pitcher to be really good bullpen signing. He doesn't come with a high K rate but has low BB rate. 3.23 ERA for a career RP and has experience finishing games? This isn't like a one year wonder followed by next year blunder. Then a wonder again. Consistently below 3.40ERA 4 of last 5years. Surprised he's up for grabs that we could get him! Wilson isn't a game finisher RP. Only 4 saves in his entire career. Generally a guy used in the 6th-7th innings to get to the late inning guys. There has to be a reason every other team in MLB passed on him though. At least they say he is a ground ball type pitcher. BRef has him finishing 58 games in 290 appearances for career. 20% of all games he's pitched in he finished. That is experience finishing games. Not closing games which 4 saves would apply to.
  6. This is a very realistic look at things. The 3 young guys have talent, and it will be fun to watch them develop. I just fear some are expecting them to all be aces this season. The time is now, I don't disagree with giving them the opportunity. I've seen a couple dozen starts come up through the system that got hurt, derailed, traded, etc. So I'm really looking forward to watching these guys. In addition to the concerns above, they are all really going to struggle to get through 5 innings let alone 6 or 7. My hope is by 2020 2 of 3 will have the training wheels off completely and be really solid starters. Call that an ace, #2, TOR, whatever, that's semantics. But for this year, I would be fine if they just held their own for 5 innings. It would be a plus if one of them can consistently get in to the 7th inning. Disagree with your comment that they ALL are gonna struggle to get thru 5 let alone 6 or 7. Peralta prob till command Burnes should be ok. Woodruff horse. Peralta had 14 starts last season. 5 went 6innings. 2 went 7 innings. That's half of his starts. He's probably the most likely of all Brewer Pitchers to throw a Complete game.

  8. Latest walterfootball mock is Hockensin and Greg Little. Thatll do nicely.
  9. In all my despair about Knebel and excitement about the young rotation I forgot all about Nelson for a couple of hours. That may indeed be a good option this season but I'll bet he is itching to get back in the rotation. Which is clearly starting out in the minors to get back in the rotation. The thought I have on it is that the Club instead is giving him the opportunity to play at the ML level immediately. What is that itch? to Start? or play in the Majors?
  10. Team still has Matt Albers who has experience in the 9th, if we're so focused on Hader pitching best useful innings. Taylor Williams seems like the kind of slide in to the 9th inning role as needed. Jacob Barnes is not really a 9th inning option unless he's starting the 9th inning on his own. He allowed 48% of runners inherited to score last season. Seems in his splits if a guy is on 2b, he may as well balk him to 3b as he carries a career .958 OPS against when runner on 2nd vs .510 and .525 OPS against 1st or 3rd base respectively. Or, you know run out Jimmy Nelson for 9th inning as needed til Jeffress returns and then stretch him back out in to a starter role while as he's in this role he's limiting his IP.
  11. Yes Peralta is a FB pitcher but he threw a Curveball about 20% and 2.5% Changeup. He's very young, gets away with it and likely works on that Changeup to throw more often. He's a guy that isn't getting Hit off of not just last season but in the minors. 5.6hits/9 for the Brewers last season and a career 7h/9 in the minors. This isn't a going to be figured out type of stat that suddenly becomes alarming for Peralta and future performance. What happens when he figures out better control to something like 3.3BBs/9? That would negate some of the figured out getting hit more often, also that will go a long way on his Fip or expected ERAs. It's a long season. Last 3 playoff years the pitching ERA was 3.73, 3.63, and 3.85. It is without a doubt a better Batting lineup heading in to this season. They avg'd 4.04 runs/gm last year which was below League avg. I could think of this like the Bucks, the Run differential should be the same or better which Pythagoreon last year was 91wins. That where you start and move upwards with a healthy team/Nelson.
  12. For the value of numbers that he consistently puts up, this is a massive underpay. It was said before 9.2WAR Avg for him per season. So by the numbers that's paying him 4million per WAR. That extension should have been 430mil on top of the 2/66 he's being paid. Maybe they will have incentives built in? 2mil for an MVP season? 1mil if only top 5? 500k for some other awards? But, I dunno I guess he could compare it as Harper with the playing for 1 team til retirement.
  13. Kiper on ESPN radio is calling Jonah Williams? I believe a T from Alabama as our fitting need and pick. Hope its true as I want Rodgers to have more time. Then for 30 suggested a WR to replace Cobb some name with Hollywood in it. I dont neccesarily feel WR is needed after the collection of WRs we have from last year's draft.
  14. The mock site I look at is WalterFootball.com. They have mocks in place for 2020 and 2021 already. Lots of insight. Only thing at the moment is the last Mock was on the 13th. So the homepage mocks us Clenin Ferrell a DE/OLB as replacing Clay Matthews departure. Followed by a S Another Mock on 3/11 has us taking Jonah Williams a G/OT. And a S at 30 replacing HHCD. So I'd say that these mocks for 30 aren't taking in to account Amos' addition I'd think a well thought out Mock will be their next update and take more of a grain of salt towards.
  15. If you win all the time then your gut feeling is the way to go. Youve cornered the market on SPs its clear how you can draft offense well. Other owners are competing for tier 2 SPs and good offense is left behind for you.
  16. What about a case like Matt Davidson, where I believe he pitched in college but I believe now the Rangers are giving him a chance both as a pitcher and position player. So technically he wouldn't hit any criteria, but they fully intend to utilize him as a 2 way player. Erceg might fall into that category at some point as well. 20IP is the criteria said to count as both ways. Davidson could play on the field and pitch in a close game vs the 7run differential or extra inning. If I recall Maddon used a position player to pitch to one batter while leaving the previous in the field. Only then to switch back. Maybe a different team? but same situation. You would remove that from the game.
  17. Here's a good one to the rule: Position players will be allowed to pitch only in extra innings or when their team is ahead or behind by more than seven runs. I thought I read the proposal somewhere else that exclaimed 3 batter minimum except during an inning change. So 2 outs and a Loogy gets the third he'd be done for his day with the inning change. The article posted doesn't say that but maybe that's just ignorance figuring that's common sense. I'm personally not worried about this for the Brewers since really the Loogy hasn't been that great for us and we're filled with 2IP relievers. 1million for the HR derby champ? Not a fan of that because you know how generally you make the HR derby? Any 1st-3rd season batters making under 1mil minimum just got a green light to swing for the fences until the AS break. On MLB's end I can see that they're putting out an incentive to get the best of the best to participate, but this really encourages HR swinging. How about the guy who's abnormally at 15-18HRs before AS break for a typical 20HR season hitter? Whatever just ranting. I'm wondering if when they say top 3 vote getters for an Election if they are referring to at the position and not overall top 3. So for instance, at NL catcher you have Posey, Molina, and this year(hopefully) Grandal. You have 1 day election to vote that starter, even if Posey had a 1million vote lead previously? You would then get rid of the team with 5 or 6 vote winners on one team when 1 player hadn't even played in half the games...potentially?
  18. 3 locks for rotation have to be Chacin, Burnes, Peralta. Davies is probably 4th best. Anderson 5th only because Woodruff would be a far better option out of the bullpen. Nelson when ready will take over whichever of Davies/Anderson is struggling. As for Innings limits you have Guerra and Woodruff to swap Burnes or Nelson etc. I don't think Peralta will necessary be on a limit at least for the regular season. He becomes worrisome when the Playoffs begin. These guys have options they'll be rotated as needed. You'll obviously be running your best 3 pitchers if/when you make the playoffs as what the season indicated. With plenty of quality bullpen arms to ride multiple innings.
  19. I already answered what was the cause for 2017. Nelson's CB improved to above league avg from below avg. That of course made his Fastball more effective. 2017 will be an outlier if the curveball isn't above league average moving forward. By all accounts the breaking pitches seem to be there at this time. There is higher hope on his future performance than many are suggesting it will be.
  20. Well then your decision is made for you. Of course when it comes to Keeper leagues what are the 6 keepers currently?
  21. I looked at the bottom 50 the night before wondering if they'd have Hiura when clearly were going to have Vlad Jr. He wasn't there of course. Cain according to the site had actually risen like 20+ spots after last season. Jesus had to be close. Shaw as well. No biggie
  22. It is tough reading these threads with the constant 1man-upship. It is good to hear the Packers have signed an OL, two Edge Rushers(pairing with healthy Daniels/Clark whoa) and a Safety that was a part of a record breaking Bears Defense. You remove the need at edge and can take BPA. Or in my hopes a high pick at OL and whichever TE is left of the two praised upon here. Love that the big mistake of signing Perry has been removed and not kept around. It's been a great day and more excitement for the draft afterwards!
  23. Pretty sure 2017 coincided with throwing a curve ball 3rd pitch he didnt have previously. If he's throwing the curveball again(read tweet his breaking pitches leading to 3ks) then his 2017 shouldnt be an outlier moving forward. I dont know if part of those 3ks were a cb result or all on sliders. That would be what Im watching for. FB velocity seems good enough to me already.
  24. Fangraphs I think or maybe it was roto, anyway read Nelson threw 2IP yesterday with FB sitting around 90-91. So he's off about 3MPH for the moment..... Here I actually still had the page open and it was Rotoworld March 7, 2019 Nelson (shoulder) was satisfied with the way the ball was coming out in his two-inning intrasquad outing Thursday, Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports. ANALYSIS His fastball was clocked at 90-91 mph, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports. Nelson said he wanted better results in the intrasquad match but said he felt good afterward. He is unsure what the next step will be, but is anxious to get into a Cactus League game.
