So Burnes and Hiura. Burnes/Lutz would fit the bill for McDaniel's rankings. I wouldnt do it losing Burnes. Woodruff/Lutz Id final offer, of course with some lower filler.

The proposals just to prove every player has a trade away price, are just absurd. Basically offering to tank with Yelich and hand an All-Star squad to play with, when in truth the proposals would be prospects more than likely. That is how we got Yelich. That is how Realmuto will be acquired. Cleveland wont be offering Kluber to get him. The Mets wont be offering Degrom or Syndergaard to get him. Give me prospect proposals/ or guys who've played less than 400PAs/100IP. And we'll get a serious discussion. Yelich at this time I couldnt trade him. What's the rush? He makes the ML team better. What Prospects are you going to offer me that improve my 2019 ML team?

Rays Acquire Catcher Mike Zunino from Mariners
brewcrewdue80 replied to Eye Black's topic in Milwaukee Brewers Talk
But that Fluky season of 3.7 is then higher than Pina's career WAR. None of it matters since Zunino is a Ray and likely there for awhile. Based on the history of how they acquire Catchers/ 1b and money owed through team control. I'd give Zunino the break on his 1st season numbers due to age, and rush to the majors. Maybe 17 is his Segura equivalent rookie year and 18 the following numbers while with Milwaukee. Change of scenery return to fluky numbers in 19 awaits? Only better?! This kind of stuff is what makes Baseball great. -
I appreciate both. Flamethrowe vs deception delivery. Jimmy Nelson vs Mike Fiers. Win with both. Nelson took off when he developed and worked a 3rd pitch in to his repertoire. If you have to pick a guy, you take which ever of the two is throwing a 3rd pitch better in ST. Which is multiple months away and time to work on 3rd pitch ability vs where they stand today. Woodruff would be higher likely to succeed longer because velocity is higher. When the drop in it occurs He's likely throwing ML avg while Peralta drops off to batting practice level. Oh wait he's younger, maybe his arm doesn't tail off it's velocity for 6 more years. Both are keepers. Enjoy the depth and quality. Lottery tickets are more likely to hit on with the more tickets you have.

Rays Acquire Catcher Mike Zunino from Mariners
brewcrewdue80 replied to Eye Black's topic in Milwaukee Brewers Talk
I remember him being a high prospect, quickly brought up to Majors cuz he absolutely raked in minors. And then he completely failed and went in to a major decline period. I wouldnt dispel 2017 as a fluke. He certainly has a higher ceiling than any catcher currently in Brewers possession. Great pickup for Tampa. -
Game thread: Green Bay at New England Patriots, 11/04/18
brewcrewdue80 replied to CheezWizHed's topic in Other Sports
Watched this game cuz Brady v Rodgers. I see not much has changed since week 3. Officials crucial flag calls hurting Green Bay. Ejection? Wow. Pretty sure weve seen what? OBJ? That Giants WR throw aggressive punches and not get ejected, just flagged. 2DBs down add #3 in King. Add OT Bulaga. Then for encore Martinez rolls ankle steppi g on Brady! Rodgers had multiple injured moments once again due to pathetic Oline protection. McCarthy takes amped up Offense and proceeds back to 5second dropbacks ignores running game's success, takes Jones out after fumble on good hit...2hand protection unlucky timing...oh on a 10? Yard gain. Deflation complete especially with that Edelman trick screen pass play. How does the rest of NFL allow the Patriots to steal a #1 WR? They seriously seem to make the best midseason trades every year! Gordon clearly best WR on field. Adams ought to be embarrassed how JG made huge impact while he sucked it up. Cobb was a joke out there. It all became worse because McCarthy can't stop himself from relying on Rodgers and not a run game. How do you keep the ball away from a 6yd per carry RB over and over? Ditched the runs after that fumble and Offense was predictable. Oh, another official review, I thought Adams? Caught that ball. 2arms/hands cradles underneath the ball. So what it deflected off his chest? His hands/arms were cradling below the ball. Called a catch and enough to overturn that? Oh now I remember. The bonehead run in to punter call that was described as just a 5yard penalty that was called auto 1st down. 4th&21 and you have such a punt rush? Enjoy the rest of a losing season. Dont think theres another matchup to bring me back to NFL watching. -
Marlins dont jeed a catcher in return. They could just sign Ramos in FA. Or pick up the Brewer catcher that is waived with no use for. 1b, Off top of my head, I thought Miami had a guy named Justin Bour? Or is that a different team? My last year in Miami, I felt like the 1b was a solid, potential up and comer. Maybe Thames as a platoon as a throw in(like Castro) I couldnt do it since the likely cost are people the ML team needs as much as they need Realmuto, if not more. We're not losing to other MLB teams at the Catcher position, almost all are bad. Reminds me of 1b situation back right before we signed Thames. I dont recall who we were clamoring for to get at 1b, probably just Braun moving there, but the overall production value are like 3-5names and 20-30 so-sos. Catcher? Its like 3names and rubbish. SP, 2b are needs. Catcher we were adequate with whats out there.

You think Grandal deserves a QO? Well just checked and he was. But how in the world would he turn the QO down? What is that going to be like 18million for 1 year? Who would seriously cough up money like that for a catcher besides the likes of LA or NY, while losing something towards their draft? Lucroy was far better player only he had a bad season leading up to his FA. Followed up with 6.5mil 1 year contract. After this past season's FA and that the Catcher now below him in salary is 11mil, I see no way he will approach 18mil for 2019. On the other end, LA QO'd Ryu, which would have likely been the kind of target I think Stearns dipped in to for less money than expected. Only now at 18mil, no chance, no way. Good Luck LA with committing 36million in to these two players. As to the draft, it's gotta be such a crapshoot at this time to even think who will be a pick at 28 for us. Players that are top 20 in the minds today, half likely won't be top 30 come day of the draft. Gotta be at least 5 outside the top 50 who climb inside the top 25. That literally may hold true the final 20 days leading up to the draft. Just looked it up and these 7 were handed QOs: Grandal Ryu Corbin Harper Kimbrel Pollock Kuechel Not sure who you'd pluck from that. Pollock would have been a good grab to play OF, but that is clearly not needed. Kuechel is #1 SP in this class makes him priced out of our market. Kimbrel would fit this clubs current RP strategy, but do we really need to add a pricey RP to this team's future salary outlooks, and block more up and comers? Harper...ha Would only leave Corbin. Like Grandal, he's coming off a career year. He'll be overvalued, don't see that going our way. Another big market overpay. But just maybe, Grandal foolishly declines his QO, and after many months pass on by, he ends up signing a cheaper deal like 12mil a year? But really, how could he pass up on 18mil, almost doubles his career earnings, while being the 4th highest paid for his position.

Dubon-screams AAAAplayer and that was before injury, he hasnt played after yet. I dont see Milw putting up a package that beats other teams. Trading Hiura is a sideways move with his future at 2b with cheap team control. Trust in the youth. We should have been in the WS had Jeffress pitched like he did all season prior. Let Coles "resign", Arciavs postseason improvement, a full off season to make a move affecting the team. Trust in Stearns to pull Iiff something

Tim Dillard Bullpen coach? Ya think? The post on previous page on OPS+ at the positions is telling. Worse at every position but Cain/Yelich. Continued terrible clutch basics unless you were Yelich. Great point on Counsell working with Molitor being odd. Maybe Stearns is going latch another Houston Astros product he is familiar with.

Its a moot point at this moment with the declare Hader stays in bullpen in 19. It was mself that put up Chris Sale stats. Similar style/profile, has worked incredible for him. Did I say Hader will continue to mow down batters a 2nd/3rd time through? Hader's not perfect as a Reliever he didnt finish with a 0ERA. He doesnt have to mow down bats. Just rack up 0s and the occasional 1/2run innings. Im just advocating that hes tried as SP. Say he succeeds, going 6-8innings with a below 3ERA? Is it foolish to use him that way just because his 3rd time through the order "supposedly" would be worse than another RP picking up that time through? There are more ways to get outs than just via a strikeout. The fact that he Ks batters at such a high rate, giving up a higher OPS doesn't mean he'll give up runs. He can strand runners on base. Its a team game, he shouldnt have to always allow 3ERs or less every time he throws 6IP. The offense needs to score it's share of runs, and clearly have for SPs who can have have an ERA above 4, yet win 16 or 17 games that season. Its a 25man roster, we lost in the NLCS due to offense not producing. How many pitchers do you need to carry to cover all these 2IP stints vs a starter giving nearly 200IP? How often are you using Hader effectively two times a week? Maybe 3? What when he has a poor outing? Doesnt go 2IP? It's odd that Ace type pitchers, it used to be get to them in the 1st inning, otherwise they find their groove suddenly go 6/7innings of shutout pitching. But then this style is addressing the 3rd time seen in an order when SPs should be giving up more runs....I gtg cant finish this rant be back another time.

https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/split.fcgi?id=salech01&year=Career&t=p/ Look for his stats on repeat through the order. Ops is always below .700. Lefty, high K rate. Mentioned just above on a 200million contract vs the 80-something mil given to Chapman. Lumping the stats for SPs and how the times faced/repeats, worsen is ignoring attempts of having a Chris Sale that doesnt follow that trend. The state of SPs not going deeper and Counsell's use on SPs not to see 180IP+ is also wrong as Chacin was 192? I believe this season. we celebrated the starts Chacin/Miley gave us during the Playoffs prior to game 7, being 5IP. 0ERs and such. Why do we have to argue Hader from doing that seeing batters a 2nd/3rd time all because the stats show a decline by pitchers when doing so? Chacin just gave 192IP below 3.5ERA with Slider/FB as his go to pitches. Let Hader show himself if he's just another 1 time through the order stud and dud #s 2&3, or the next Chris Sale.

Manny Machado's Game 7 Crotch Grab
brewcrewdue80 replied to bani1717's topic in Milwaukee Brewers Talk
I also wonder the attention this gets towards Machado sliding in to Arcia, dragging his foot to kick Aguilar, if it were say Yelich at 2b or Cain at 1b. 6+WAR players who are better than Machado, paid handsomely, whereas Arcia/Aguilar are Pre-Arb not thought of highly 2WAR types. Arcia was in AAA multiple times this season. Aguilar a waiver wire player. I wonder how MLB would react had he injured a Yelich type player. -
Manny Machado's Game 7 Crotch Grab
brewcrewdue80 replied to bani1717's topic in Milwaukee Brewers Talk
Watch a little Sportscenter this morning, and the WS preview, leads off to Machado injuring Pedroia, the retaliation of 2pitches thrown behind him. MLB needs to step in. Or as Im for Brewers/other teams need to retaliate until MLB takes notice and does. I cant understand defending against doing so when he A. Slid into 2nd base/Arcia so far past he couldnt even touch the base. Was Out on force out doing this "slide" B. Is being thrown out at first by nearly 2steps, and clearly drags his left foot while running past 1b to clip Aguilar's foot. This is intent to harm, not aggressive, smart, heads-up, baseball play. He shouldnt been playing game 7 if MLB did the right thing. A bunt single followed by HR began the Brewers loss in it. Bean him. You want to take one of our team down, we'll take you down for trying. For the, You play to win the game, and putting him on first doesnt accomplish that" Not every game/situation is the outcome up for grabs. Up or down 5runs or more, 4or more heading to 9th, 2outs 0men on base, or even runner on 2b and your about to give an IBB, you bean the dirtbag at those moments. Anything to raise attention that how Machado plays is wrong and needs punishment, by you MLB, or by our justice. -
I think the idea that Hader would struggle after 3IPs is absurd. Harping on his FB ratio is irrelevant to me when it fans numerous batters. Hes not seeing batters 2 and 3 times through. But he clearly has a good secondary pitch when he threw it. That pitch would be thrown more If he were starting and keeping batters guessing a 2nd and 3rd time throughthe order. How'd we do versus Kershaw? He certainly isnt bringing his FB at 94+ like I remember. That slurveball is all it takes to keep hitters off balance. Brewers bats got to see that pitch from Hill as well, it didnt help them hit that pitch. Theres too much respect on hitters here, when this game is at a low for hits to high strikeouts since before I was born or ever. I dunno. What was Hader at? 22pitches? For 3innings? Taking his ability to starting vs the ability of Brent Suter? You have to at least give it a shot. Aroldis Chapman got one, then he became the bullpen great. He's young and fireballing today. He has a long time to be a relief Ace. Starter he doesnt.

David Stearns must do's for the offseason
brewcrewdue80 replied to brewmann04's topic in Milwaukee Brewers Talk
Aguilar victim of HR derby? I'd guess Burnes/Peralta to land inSP role with Woodruff as super Bullpen. But you can flip flop Peralta/Woody at any moment. Burnes should have been starting long ago, for whatever reason they didnt. I love Yelich, but I'd hate to extend an aging Yelich. Watching the playoffs, it was evident his arm is a weakness taken advantage of. I'd probably consider him an offseason trade when he enters his final contract year to replenish farm. But that's years from now, when you know the health of your youth to replace him. Lets be honest here. The Dodgers have now gone to back to back WS. Their roster is full of young hitters that made numerous game changing defensive plays. Yelich has the youth, but not game changing defensive skills. You want to continue with Goliaths you gotta stay youthful. Sure, the Dodgers payroll helped them, but refusing to sell off guys like Bellinger, Urias, Seager, Taylor, and Walker plus Im sure isnow 2years and running WS participants. Embracing the youth has put them back to relevance. WWe'll be losing Braun, Cain, Yelich all about the same time. You'll get a brighter picture on if he carries this season, or if he falls a little back to his norm. Addressing an extension now should not be anywhere near Stearns offseason priorities. -
Trading for Paul Goldschmidt
brewcrewdue80 replied to pacopete4's topic in Transaction Rumors & Proposals
I dont follow a playoff contending team trading with another playoff contending players of same position that were big reasons to contending for playoffs in the first place. Goldy is staying with Arizona. Were there even grunblings that Arz wants to trade him? As to this series LHB/RHB. Scope ruined this team by being completely useless, as I can now see why he was acquired. A bat to face the Dodgers. The Dodgers pitching absolutely matchex up perfectly to defeat the LHBs we had. Kershaw, Ryu, Wood, Urias..Im sure Im forgetting another..Madson? Was he lefty? Scope should have been the RHB to start vs Moose or Shaw playing or Perez to combat that. Aguilar crapped the bed with runners on i the favorable LHP/RHB matchup. 1 RHB that can get on base better than .333 and I think its Santana returning over Braun in Of. Braun to 1b. Aguilar traded for any value. -
David Stearns must do's for the offseason
brewcrewdue80 replied to brewmann04's topic in Milwaukee Brewers Talk
Musts? find a sucker to deal Scope to. Trade Thames. Find a couple RP arms to replace the 2 you will lose when Woodruff, Peralta, Burnes are thrusted in SP roles. LH preferred. RH 3b out there? Platoon type for Shaw or Moose. Market for Aguilar? Trade him, you move Braun to 1b. Santana/Ray/Broxton as OF replacements to Braun. If you dont move Scope, Moose stays, you finally rid of Perez whatever that is. I assume he plays 2b til Hiura takes over. Hader/Kneble complete the 8th-9th of a bullpen. 2IP at a time. Guerra& the non sp of the 3 above would be my long men in the other spots. Consider a Catcher upgrade, but not sure that really exists. They are all sideway moves. The team is built for some years. Hiura if he arrives with just an avg output helps this team for a long time. Arcia is still growing, hopefully this post season is a path he continues on. Really just need a new voice in a batting coach to improve the clutch hitting situations. Better awareness on approaching the current hitting situations. Hacking at first pitches after walks or wildness by opposing pitchers has to improve. Make the guy beat you vs helping him. Yelich's 2nd AB is prime example. Cain walk. 1st pitch GIDP. -
Superb response on Snell thoughts above ^^^ How many nights can a guy play 30+mins on the floor and finish with 0s inhis stats? Maybe 3pts? If hes this great defender, where are the steals? Blocks? Something positive disrupting the other teams ppossession?
-
Not with what he has shown thus far. I’d say still half a year away minimum. That's all that matters. Can't act like Hiura vs whomever they play at 2b is the difference between Brewers making a postseason or not. If he's available for the postseason, the offense is better for these important games. It'd be a far better acquisition than Scope was.
