  1. Shane Baz or DL Hall. How about this GM and Montgomery take some risk over continued Safe college pick or OF'r
  2. Oh I get what you mean. 1-2 more than our 550k option The thing is Yelich in Milwaukee and the Central division may be 3-4War more than our prospect. The NL east and especially the Marlins ballpark detracts from HRs, something that has always been believed he'd grow in to. Just not easy to do in that stadium. Thinking for a minute Yelich would only be 1War better than our prospect is really over reaching expectations on any of the Brewer OF prospect. Yelich is so far ahead in K rate and BB pct guys like Brinson or Phillips arent remotely close. Yelich a 4-5War average season is probably a 5-6 war here avg with 7-9 potential. Hed move immediately long term to #3 spot in lineup. At some poi t Yelich will win a batting title, that year hes going to be around 8War doing so. Just once again, Braun, Broxton, Santana plus Brinson, Phillips, Cordell reside within the Brewers OF options, adding Thames or Perez to that mix. Yelich wouldnt fit in the teams plans without removing 3 of these guys.
  3. I like the readup on Shane Baz the most. Duo threat in that he'll be a hitting SP. So theres help in his cause if made a NL Starter. Texas HS? Could Stearns have some extra info on Texas Preps still with his Houston past? Really wish I had a working computer to see video and rate my top Pitcher picks. I seem to have a good hit rate on calling the standouts I like.
  4. We're to this point with only 2 of our prospects really being a part of the production. There are many bullets left in the chamber to fire. Just hitting the bullseye with one must be equivalent to a 4 win increase on a season. Thames was like a double barrel, 8win increase by adding him. Liking our chances to be atop the Central for a long time, regardless how great the Cubs are supposed to be.
  5. Well Plush, if it werent 2,2,3 IP in last 3 starts he'd be headed for over 160 from his 126IP last year. The road in to Milw's rotation isnt deserving with his numbers vs Woodruff's numbers. Based on Brewer needs, his LH arm, a move to the pen or 2IP stints wont be the worst for his development. He's not going to only throw 1 IP every 5days. 2 2IP every 5games is 4IP vs the 5-6 you would like from him in starts. So in effect he's still increasing the innings on his arm should he pitch in September. If he were in AA at this stage of his minors career nothing would be made a big deal out of this. Next year he'd be on a full workload in AAA. Theres always the wonder on a Playoff series to be prepared for. Hader is a most likely September callup. He helps the bullpen in dominating style there could be a few 2ip awaiting him in October. He wants to be a Starter the Brewers put him back in AAA rotation til his team control passes the Super 2 threshold in 18. If he were to remain a Starter with more Innings usage he may top out as September hit and shut down then. He's not exactly seeing ill effects on home/away. 5home starts to 7Away starts and the number are very similar
  6. Reading the thread last 3pages. I appreciate the OPS stat. What I look in the numbers is XBH. Load them up mix some HRs with a bunch of doubles. I cant really look at the numbers not being on a computer or hi tech phone. I know Diaz was excellent last year in XBHs. And Im thinking continuing this year. The next are walks and Ks. I dont get as scared at a young age for 30-38% k rate if theres Xbhs coming from the batter with ability on walks. You can lower that k pct little by little get to the mid 20s and its no longer a concern. What Gatewood is doing this season, it must rank up there for most improved numbers all time in the Franchise. Maybe baseball for all I know? Year to year improvement. In stating Taylor's success at A? Ball where were the XBHs? It wasnt eyepopping. Lack of HRs. Anyway enjoyed reading the previous pages. Nice to hear an update.
  7. If there were a way to send Braun in the deal I'd be for it. But the reason they are putting Yelich for trade is to shave money and find new faces to the Franchise for the sale they are working on. Yelich is special bat I would expect 3 top 100s plus a lottery asking price. It'd be like Brinson, Woodruff, and Diaz with say Gilbert Lara to get him. He's only an uptick of HR power away from elite top 10 bat in baseball. Without sending Braun theres going to be mass confusion on acquiring Yelich. The Cardinals have a huge need for a bat like his. Delvin Perez would make an interesting piece to put in trade to Miami. Jose Reyes combo.
  8. And when did Stephen Gonsalves and Fernando Romero ever receive TOR potential? Travis Blankenetc become a better prospect than Lara? When you look at stats everything on the Brewers offer is as good/better than my offer to Pittsburgh. Your going strictly by age in your Taillon 100x better than Guerra. But Taillon has been a walking wounded throughout his Professional career. Guerra has a longer track record of better performance with as much if notmore team control.
  9. So I could offer the Pirates Freddy Peralta, Marcos Diplan, and Gilbert Lara for Gregory Polanco and Jameson Taillon by that measure.
  10. Lol HaHa at proposal 1. Junior Guerra alone I wouldnt take that deal. What improvements does that trade give Milw? The 2nd deal is too odd. 2OFs for a SP prospect. To this point there arent any deadline deals to feel safe making up. Garza is about it. Guerra I dont know, til Stearns comes forward with a list of guys he's entertaining offers for the deadline. The longer we sit and hang around within the division I think deadline deals are really minor and the big deals happen after this season
  11. Why not have somebody - ANYBODY - up, just in case Torres bombs? How could any of the guys still out there be worse? Torres had pitched well the last 12 games( per TH).....only others left were Scahill( obviously held back for long relief) and Feliz who is ... Feliz. So no good options.....the pen stinks other then the 2 guys who couldn't,pitch today. And yet this RP situation comes after SPs going deeper than they do the previous 3games. Easy to Agree though, the moment the bases get loaded someone needs to be warming in the pen. Walk a run in, that guy comes in to the game. With Torres throwing just Cut Fastballs and he walks in a run, you can predict what happened.
  12. Gameday lists Torres as throwing 89-91 Cut Fastballs. Every Pitch!. If thats all he has than Im lost how hes on a ML roster throwing BP
  13. There are none on the team other than Braun. There are other guys around the league that we drafted and are playing in the bigs - Khris Davis, Scooter, Lorenzo Cain, Lucroy. JJ Hardy, Michael Brantley, Brett Lawrie, Mitch Haniger. Weeks is still playing (I think). Probably missed a few guys. That nails my thoughts if naming players still playing. jason Rogers I suppose.
  14. Im not advocating for Scooter. Just stating the "Villar is our 2nd baseman for 17" with Perez not being an out loud battle for 2nd base playing time, may havelead to overconfidence for Villar to play suboptimal with no real fear for his job. He was off playing at the WBC, arrived late to ST and was Milw's starting 2b. Somewhere in the midsts of that he was proposed a contract. Im just trying to come up with an idea why his approach and hitting has been what its been.
  15. You throw out a trade idea that would make any GM a complete idiot to hold on to Kneble. Its about what it cost to get Chapman as a rental for the Cubs. Problem is Robles wouldnt fit Milwaukee, so I would turn it down to the effects of finding a 3rd team to trade Robles to, and get a player who'd fit Milws needs. Everyone has a price, when they will be traded for Golden Tickets but, where this team is already at, that is what it must take for me to trade Kneble this early in his career. As theres a huge need for a player of his potential.
  16. John Axford was not similar in prospect pedigree. There are RPs who can succeed for multiple seasons. Especially ones with a high K Rate. Things like David Robertson happen for a RP with a QO. I'd imagine if we made it to that kind of point, keeping him through all of team control, he'd be seeing some 4out saves. I suggested it in the extreme good case, to keep him through his control. But itd be simple to trade him in the last offseason before he would be a FA. Say if he rrurns in to a Kenley Jansen. He's going to have a 10+mil final arb year where trading him off as small markets do to a big market because of salary, yet get a high return. We've already gone through a number of blown saves due to a shaky bullpen. Part of the rebuild is acquiring some future at the end of the pen. Except some of the future need happens to be in the present.
  17. This^ In the PAs I've seen on tv, his swings are viscous. I dont remember it being anywhere near this overswinging last year than what it is now. I almost feel like his eyes were strictly on the SB crown and his approach was to get on 1st and steal 2nd. Now, with his early season baserunning struggles, and nowhere in the SB hunt his strategy is to hit HRs now. I think sitting him more is the correct call. Keep Sogard in a 2b half/half now with Villar. Its at the point where you stick with Sogards hot bat and reduce Villars time til he adjusts his approach. He was offered that extension, given the 2b job when Gennett was removed, and seems to have become too comfortable with having a ML job. I dunno if he has an option, but it could be nearing time to use it to send a clearer message
  18. You absolutely trade Knebel if someone makes you a good offer. He wasn't good last year, walks quite a few guys and isn't going to keep his 94% strand rate. If some team is willing to overpay for 50-60 innings of relief, I say let them. Nope. If he's pitching this filthy in what is his 3rd? Of 7yr team control, you have a shut down for the future. Sorta doing what was expected out of him out of that trade. He was pegged to be a great late inning reliever. You keep him til his final year. Maybe all the way through the end of team control. He keeps to these stats a QO is possible.
  19. And here it is
  20. Id assume theres an old Guerra Thread to put these in vs the new.z
  21. First and second paragraph you claim Braun doesn't have a bad contract. Then you go on to say, 'Well, every team has bad contracts, right?' And if the 50M teenager is a stud, who ends up costing 100M for 6-7 years, that will obviously have been well worth it. If you're asking right now would I rather have Ryan Braun for 80M or a top 30 prospect for 50M given a choice between one or the other, I'd much, much rather have the prospect. You're right, he won't be traded, because there are no trade partners for him. People seem to wistfully remember Braun for what he was and not really for what he is now. Braun can probably still give a good .850 OPS or so but when there's no DH spot for you and you have a highly negative defensive value, there's not much value to that 850 OPS. So lets take 19year old post prospect breakout Arcia. He climbed to top 30prospect status. 50+ mil would have been perfect for him then? And that again is jist the cost to sign him. Not what years 1-6.5 will cost. Take Robert now and performing to Arcia's numbers. Still a great deal? If you can stomach the 50+ mil potential on a 19yr old who may never play one game at the ML level, I cant understand how a .900OPS batter and 76mil for 4years upsets you.If Braun only gives 1WAR per season it is more returned than Robert until he actually plays on a ML Team.
  22. Lets be crazy upset about an AS bat whos making 76mil for 4years(14 thats deferred) causing us to not be able to spend 50+ mil for a teenager who may never take the ML field. And who if does make the ML team will be paid 6/7years during the team control. So if hes a stud theres say another 45mil making this teenager a 100mil investment for 6/7 seasons. Makes sense to be upset with Brauns contract and plead for something far more insane in idea. Love how after 135/120/135 this start to 2017 means Braun is a 90game player moving forward. Look up and down every ML team and contracts they put up with the last 3 years. Tell me which team had 0bad contracts? LA had near 100mil I believe last season in salary paid for players who never played for them. Who here is a Billionaire based on their crystal ball perfection of betting with knowledge of the future? Last Year Brauns was near a 4WAR player. He started off on that track, has his injuries and now forget it he's not going to be a 1WAR player the rest of his contract? Im doing it again, putting too much time and stress on the subject of Braun. I do believe he wont be traded now, at least through 2018.
  23. Maybe if this had happened last year in terms of ML team winning but the Minors prospects perform below expectations. At this point Mark A has to be looking up and down the whole org and see tge winning going on throughout, the prospects meeting to exceeding expectations. The only Battle Brewing between the two is how much to extend your GM contract anoth 6years.
  24. Because no patience. The hate for Arcia because he looks like a rookie while still in his rookie year. Cant have that at 22. Its .950 OPS or move on. Oh but wait, is that right? With Villar and Santana its the lacking of GG defense. Brinson, Perez, Dubon are all going to be these requirements. AS or bust!
