  1. Well, someone in my Fantasy Baseball Leagues pointed out Hamels has 8QS and only 1 win. So he must be going 6ip with 2-3ERs in those starts and the other 3? would it be were flat out awful. I'm with you Adam in that I'd think Hamels goes 7ip...7.2ip to be exact with 2ERs. Leaves with Runners at the corners and it's 4-2 Philly. does the 2out RISP base hit come? Or are we disappointed once again with a weak grounder back to the pitcher to end our threat?
  2. No Adam, the idea is that these two teams have been lousy already and have already torn down their ML players and turned them in to the All Prospects team Mustache is oohing and Ahhing over. And part of being able to do that is to literally have No ML talent on your ML team say for 1st-3rd year players who haven't reach Arb yet. It's laughable to me that Houston/Miami are allowed to operate below 40mil in team payroll. I'm pretty sure they will have revenue sharing sent their way each at or above 40mil without a Single Paying Fan watching a home game! Where is that money put in to on the Ballclub? If the team doesn't spend as much money as they are to get in Revenue Sharing then they shouldn't have any money sent to them. It should be forfeited back. Back to the comparisons. I just don't agree comparing the Minor Clubs of two teams that just dealt away ML talent for Propsects in return. Yes Miami has Fernandez missed pick by Milw. Yes Houston has Correa from a #1 draft pick the season after we went to the League Championship Series. Then you mix in the guys they traded for and yeah their minors are better than ours. I don't think you can compare the minors to teams who went bellyup with trade dealing/Offseason trade. Trading away ML players for Prospects in the last 2 years without being in the Playoffs. You want to compare the Rangers to Milw, sure that's on equal ground. But Losing teams who've traded for the future already and had successful 2011 drafts it's just not even going to remotely be close comparing our club to theirs. The truth is 2010/2011 may go down as worst picks in back to back seasons ever by the club in comparison to the players selected around and after Covey/Jungmann/Bradley. And no one should be left in the organization responsible for those draft picks. FWIW, We like to hoot and Holler at Tampa but they have zero 1st picks playing for the ML club since 2007 draftee David Price. And only Taylor Guerrieri in 2011 is looking to join the club any time soon as a solid pick. They got their Prospects from the Shields Trade, the Garza Trade, and Enny Romero was a Latin Signee. After them the 1st round picks none of them are top 100 propects nor appear any better than our picks. We've hung around the .500 level the last few seasons now so we haven't traded away players for Prospect Talent...Outside of Grienke last year. and Segura in return became an immediate ML player vs. sitting in the Minors to be oohed and ahhed about as a top prospect for a couple years. We've traded for players and not traded for prospects it leaves us where we are. Miss a couple drafts Rogers/Covey/...etc. yeah we're barron of top prospects. I'm not defending Melvin or Seid or anyone. Just not a fan of this comparison in topic as basically, to be where Houston/Miami are today, we'd have to give back the 2011 season have traded away our ML Players in 2010/2011/2012 or this offseason for that matter to be where they are today. And succeeded in what amounts to our 2011 draft picks vs failed. After this season/offseason and where we stand in Prospect land is when I can take it seriously. What comes to us from Trades/ How our 2012 picks progress that evaluation relates more importantly to me. 2010/2011 is a huge Failure. But with Roache/Coulter/Haniger/Taylor progress and our return in trades the outlook can be drastically different at this point next season. I mean think about Oscar Taveras. he was 97th? ranking in pre-2012? Then had a big year leaped to #3. What's to stop Roache/Taylor at least seeing some kind of leap like that with exceeded expectations? I'll end my rant. I enjoy comparing Minors among teams, one because it's a headstart look in to who's the future in Baseball. Just comparing the State of our franchise to two teams who've torn their ballclubs about.... Well, lets compare the teams when Braun/Gomez/Hart/Gallardo/Estrada/Lohse/Lucroy/ARam/Weeks are all traded away leaving us with Segura to be the Face of our Franchise. That's what the left over equivalent would be to Houston/Miami state of the Minors.
  3. Well Maldanado is serviceable as our starting catcher in a rebuild mode for two more seasons is what I meant with my thought. I know he's not special/lighting it up at the plate. I think more regular time ABs he'd bat better, talking .230-.245 mind you not high expectations or anything. The 1yr mediocre vet would be his backup/safety in case of injury. And I'm also only agreeable to the trade of Lucroy if it was bringing a talent that improves the team long term moreso than keeping him. Or, vs what the team loses in the dropoff of production from Lucroy to Maldanado. But what do you get for a good Catcher? I doubt a #3 Pitcher workhorse type pitcher would be made available in return for Lucroy. Obviously, if an offer like that #3 pitcher for Lucroy, that represents quite an improvement in our staff over losing Lucroy to Maldanado so I'd consider that a good deal. 3and2: Why do you believe Coulter cannot become a Catcher? Just glancing at his stats...He's improved quite a bit at Caught Stealing 16% to 34%. Yeah I see his Fielding is at .962 and quite a number of Passed Balls but again, he's 19 and that gives him time to grow. I'd compare half seasons this year to see if there's improvement or stagnant/worsening ability before already conceeding his liklihood to remain at Catcher.
  4. Trwi7 ^^^ I was thinking the same thing. In that we have Maldanado with Coulter in the pipelines. And mediocre 1yr veteran Catchers always out there. I'll have to check out rosters of playoff likely teams to see any kind of match. With all of us on the reality we're non-contenders til 2015 at the earliest, that's the end of the Lucroy era beginning of the Coulter era if projections go right. So why not?
  5. That's great. What's not great though are the Dodgers Chances of making the Playoffs. 7.5 back today. in 1 month? I think you gotta be 7back or less on a trade deadline deal trading for the Playoffs. Outside of 10games you should be trading for the future. That in between, you're probably picking a piece/ Utility bat/RP for the stretch if the team can maybe make a run and get lucky others ahead falter. All teams in that division are competitive, San Diego isn't a push over anymore, and Colorado offensively alone kills teams. Then the Giants/Diamondbacks are leading the way. If Kemp was actually playing 2011 numbers then yeah, I wouldn't count the Dodgers out 10 games back. But he's nowhere near them. It'd be like Braun batting .260 with projected 18HRs 75rbi on the season and what impact you believe that does to our team. That's the impact Kemp's season is having and now he's on the DL. Dodgers are in trouble, and I'm thinking they will luck themselves in to being sellers this year. Which is scary to think with their payroll how good they can get their Minors plus freedom of cash in the offseason. Good work on putting together the trade scenario likely for Gallardo from LAD. It's just not to be with where both teams reside.
  6. While I agree that it's unlikely that kind of deal will occur, I certainly don't think it's idiotic to entertain the notion of potentially trading any player. I mean, in Braun, a team would be netting one of the top 5(?) hitters in the game, who happens to be signed for essentially the rest of his career at really reasonable rates. You never know what some GM out there might be willing to part with to add him. I'd take Strasburg & Harper for Braun. 3 years of Strasburg plus 5 of Harper (before they each go join the Yankees) would be cool But no way would the Nationals do that I don't think the Nationals would take Braun for Harper Straight up. In fact, Harper may be as good as Braun today. So it's an even trade but in 2-4 years? Harper becomes the better of the two. Now, Strasburg/Rendon for Braun I think they'd entertain. Seeing as Strasburg isn't flat lights out like he was his rookie campaign, I feel we've already seen the best from him. Huge Injury concerns with Strasburg, I think Clearly Braun becomes a prize to hang on to for them. Rendon then evens out the trade for both teams. Brewers have a much needed 3b and SP. I'd imagine Davis/Gomez share LF with Schafer at CF depending who's hotter at the plate in Schafer/Davis. And I'd do that trade. I don't think the team loses fans just for the fact Strasburg is the elite kind of Pitcher fans go to games to witness. Rendon is a 6th pick so you know he's to be a Franchise Player. He'll make fans quickly forget Braun with Strasburg. Nats wont do it though. They will get some kind of incredible talent elsewhere for him. Man Ryan Zimmerman/Anthony Rendon as your backup what a luxury!
  7. 1-1Phi Check 1-1 0-3 Oak 1-2 +1W 3-1Phi 3-1 Check 2-1Mia 2-1 Check 0-3Cin 1-2 +1W 1-2Hou 1-2 Check 0-3ATl 2-1+2W 2-1Chi 1-2 -1W 1-2Pit 10-17 You fail to realize that this team's mojo means 1 of Hart/Narveson will suffer a setback in the rehab stints. ARam/Braun are either going on the DL to get healthy or will miss 10games combined alternating sit down games. The L in Lohse stands for Loss. Marco will be the bright spot this month. Peralta pitches 8ip vs either Houston/Miami and it helps turn him around. Gallardo....one can only hope. The pitching is just too bad to put this team at .500 or above for a month. I don't know why I put 3-1 vs Phi when they own us the last two seasons but I had to throw a nice stretch in there, combined with Mia 2-1 that's a 5-2 stretch! Oak/Cin/Atl far outclass us in pitching and only a pitchers duel from our starters remotely give us a chance to win a game. Alas, no one on our staff knows what a duel is this year. 0-9. Anyone traded away by end of month? 2011 was a team that could ride through McGehee's struggles. This team when in a hott seat, you have to show you're trying to win games but all involved suck. Weeks/Bianchi both struggle what's RRR to do? Yuni/AGonz struggle well...Melvin signed them. Lucroy/Maldonado? both struggling. That's 3 positions...3 bats in the order it doesn't matter who's in the lineup we're getting -WAR from them. But yes, Weeks will see days on the bench.
  8. Mustache, in regards to comparing our minors to these two teams... You just can't. What are they at combined payroll? 40mil? And 10mil of that or so are to players not even on Miami?...Not looking it up at the moment. These two teams have been trading away for prospects. Add to it success in a couple draft picks vs. non with ours and yeah they have a better Minor League system than us. The thing with Miami is Loria is a criminal. He's taking every prospect he can get. Don't forget they have "Failing" Uber Pitching Prospect 2 years ago #6 was it? Jacob Turner. He's one of those, there's a reason we say Prospect attached to their name because they don't always pan out players. Anyway, Loria is flat out finding a core of players like Selig and with Stanton,Fernandez,Heccha....whatever,Yelich. Those 4 are what will get him hmm, a cool 700mil selling the franchise end of 2014. Nice profit for someone who was "Loaned 160ish mil" to by the club. Pay next to nothing for a new stadium. And afterwards make over half billion in profits. It's sickening, and the stench of Selig is contributing to this. You know he's making Millions off this deal as a friend allowing it to happen. Screw Selig God I hate him! Then you have the Astros. Again this is a Franchise in Rebuild mode for must be 5years now? You had better have a core of prospects from that amount of time rebuilding. Mustache, I feel your pain in regards to our complete lack of upcoming prospects. It's sad to hang our hats on not a 1st or 2nd round pick but a 3rd rounder on Thornburg as really our best Pitching Prospect. Missing the boat on Fernandez taking Jungmann and Bradley it just happens. Failed picks. Meanwhile we have Roache/Coulter/Haniger getting ready to begin their 2nd year with our franchise. I would be willing to bet Haniger is top 100 rated prospect next season. Roache likely too if his Avg. rises up above .270 at end of season. Let's face it 2010 miss on Covey and then 2011 miss on Jungmann/Bradley this after trading away pretty much all our 1st rd picks the years prior leaves us in bad shape in rankings currently. at 26th in 2009 you're not expecting a make or break kind of player which is why I hate they picked a College player in Arnett vs. a HS player to groom who has potential. I mean think about it? If you have a HS aged player on your draft board in the same line as a College player then doesn't the 4year development suggest that at age 21/22 the HS player will be better than the College player? You trade away you SSs Escobar/Hardy and Nick Franklin is there and you draft a College pitcher? Reymond Fuentes is over .300 in AA, Slade Heathcoat is #63, Levon Washington didn't sign, Steve Baron seems a bust, Matt Davidson is #77, Tyler Skaggs #10, Chris Owings batting .335 in AAA That's the other HS players drafted in the 1st round so 1bust, 1 non signee, 4 top 100 prospects today and 2 that are batting .300+ in their 4th year development...meaning when they would be graduating College and entering this June's Draft. That's way ahead of the curve of drafting College Pitching! Yet the Brewers do it time and time again! Just have the patience to bring a player up 4-5 years from HS for Cripes Sake@! Nick Franklin/Tyler Skaggs the two picks directly under ours that year vs. Arnett and Kentrail Davis. Followed by Covey. Followed by Jungmann/Bradley. There should be Nobody...in the draft room from those 3years left in the organization after tomorrow. The worst May/Calendar month in Team history reflects on that track record. Those 5picks if went HS directly below them would be Nick Franklin,Tyler Skaggs, well Covey was HS pick, and Brandon Nimmo/Jose Fernandez in 2011. Fernandez/Franklin/Skaggs are all top 50 prospects. Nimmo is 6th in Mets "Stacked" Prospect rankings and would likely fall in the 3/4th in our team's rankings. Nearly every HS pick is a Hit in the 1st round. That'd be 2premium SPs/SS/and OFer all ready to either contribute today or within a year.
  9. Yeah, I just went with players that had contributed to the Big League club thus far. We talked about Peralta being our SP Prospect, and he's not giving us a whole lot of value thus far. But it's with those names, that ballpark vs. StL's. I mean really, ARZ is better than Stl with Young Pitching. And they've drafted well. Goldschmidt/Mark Reynolds were late, later round finds. somebody needs to scan them over and pluck from their tree of Scouts/Pitcher Coaches.
  10. Here's a Franchise of late that has churned up SPs. Arizona anyone? Max Scherzer,Jarrod Parker,Wade Miley,Brett Anderson,Bryan Shaw,Josh Collmenter And now, they also Developed Patrick Corbin/Tyler Skaggs from Anaheim LOL Wow, Segura/Corbin/Skaggs could all be on that team today. Now, sure Scherzer/Parker/Anderson were shipped as their careers began but they drafted them, developed them and brought them up in to the Majors. Stealing Corbin/Skaggs is just a sign somebody within their organization clearly has an eye on assessing future Pitchers. Arizona having looked at their team on BREF, man, they sure make some moves. They picked an excellent year to be bad and traded away Haren/Jackson for some serious return. We know they traded away Justin Upton, but they also had Carlos Gonzalez at one time who they traded away With Brett Anderson, and Chris Carter+++more for Dan Haren who they flipped for Skaggs/Corbin/ and Joe Saunders. So it sure is interesting looking at Trades how many stud players are traded away only to use a player in return and trade them away for a future stud player. We got it with Grienke. Anyway, just something to turn our attention away for STL. and say hey, there's another team out there finding ways to insert and get quality years from drafted pitchers. Or to trade away for other pieces....Scherzer sent away for Ian Kennedy/Edwin Jackson who brought back Daniel Hudson. That's 3 good pitchers out of 1 successful Drafted Pitcher with Talent. Huge Fan of Scherzer btw Root for him anytime.
  11. I've been away tonight, It's Great to see Marco throw his 3rd 7ip Start in 4 outings. Especially after how it seems he started. It's positive to see him throw out starts that meet expectations. 7ip with 2-4ER is what I've pegged him as being. Maybe he's turning a corner like last season only last season it didn't begin til when? July? Now get Gallardo right with Lohse and I promise better days lie ahead.
  12. I'm not saying we need a top 5 pick. Top 10 for it to be Protected. But go ahead and look up the draft history of top 5 picks vs. picks 6-10. 11-15. Tell me about the success rate.
  13. Just wanted to bring this back in to light with how much Hate on the idea of signing Lohse does. Look at how bad it appears now. Let me give this more. 17th pick: Unprotected...Meaning Lose Pick with Signing Lohse. Signing Lohse means guaranteeing 11mil to him on our Payroll books 2014/15. This during time that Braun/Aram/Weeks/Gallardo money escalates. Losing still with Lohse. Okay well we can get a top 10 pick that will be protected at least so we can sign a Free Agent that's been QO if need be....................................... Oh wait, There's No More Money Left to Spare towards a Player like that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Reality is setting in when I said with my argument on sticking with our young players saving the pick and taking the Lumps that may come with it. If we failed, well we had a 17th pick and if we were in a top 10 pick after such failure, we could still use it as well as giving up 2nd rd pick to sign a FA who can contribute to the team in 2014. Do you see how bad signing Lohse was? There was complete lack of looking in to the future in that single move. Only, and I mean Only, reason signing Lohse was a good idea was if we had not only a Playoff Team on paper, But a Team that was the Talk of winning the NL Pennant and he's the missing piece to winning the World Series. Everyone here talked about us being around .500 give or take a few games so that only scenario to sign him, wasn't there. Somebody hates the Missed on Mike Trout Compensation pick with a Passion. Just wait when a SUPER STAR is picked 17th-21st in this draft and looked back upon 5years from now when Lohse is long gone. What could have been.
  14. Yeah 3rd worst is bad, but we're 3 games from being 11th worst. 2 wins in a row and we would likely move somewhere to 6-8th worst. So the 3rd worst is misleading. Before we signed Lohse, I knew it could be bad and I said if it was let it be. I didn't want Lohse to be signed to be middle of the pack but nowhere close to Playoffs. You want a Farm System? A top 10 pick is required namely a top 5 pick. Currently 3 games separate us from protected 1st rd. pick to un-protected pick. Though with Lohse signing having our pick protected doesn't matter because with payroll constraints there's no way of signing a Quality Offered Player this off-season to even lose the non-protected pick....Which is exactly more fuel to why I hate the signing.
  15. Yeah, I've got Miller and Harvey in both my Leagues. So I know all about those CG 1hitters. It's kinda maddening to see Miller with those 5.1/5.2 Starts and can't get that last out for a CG. Still, AVG/OB you have to be Killing in. Is any of them batting under .280?...Under .340OB? I have Tulo and it is frustrating especially when I work and the days he sits out I seem to not get to adjust my lineup accordingly. I'll tell you what though. Votto,Braun,Wright,Tulo with Segura are helluva tough 5 to have to go against. Marte...I expected Segura's rise..not as high but in a lineup thread you seen my vote of confidence in him preseason. Marte I was scared off and he's exceeded lofty expectations. I sat here and thought great a Player who if I remember right hit a HR in his first AB maybe in the next game as well. That, that moment would leave an over-rated mark on my peers to draft him only to be stuck with mediocrity...One I was wrong on.
  16. For those keeping track, we now sit as many games Under .500 as our lowest point last season. Just took some near 60 games less to do so.
  17. Sigh, waited up for another Loss. 6hit performance from Jean. Wonder if that's historical in some way? Age/Number of games played in his career.... Less than 1season's worth.
  18. I'm confused who is stuggling with your Batters? You have all the HRs/SBs you need from Segura/Marte...and wait for it...Wright. Must be a deep Keeper League for you to sit soooo dang nice with that lineup. Then your pitchers. Harvey,Moore,Miller,Sale have been lights out. Bumgarner/Cain are well enough to expectations. Ryu just likely eclipsed expectations with his CG 2hitter tonight. I don't get it? Must be tough luck. I'd just wait patiently for the other teams to come back down to earth. You should be rocking some weeks and at least break even others. That's how I'm doing. Either .500ish one week to .800 the next. Which results in a .630 win and 1st place currently.
  19. Braun was my #1 fantasy pick, and his home run and stolen bases numbers are down. 2 Leagues. Win with 9th pick on Fielder. Lose with 4th pick on Kemp...So I feel your pain on the down HRs/SBs. Why didn't I believe in McCutchen?
  20. LOL. This from the guy who just said Brauny hit a Walkoff HR...you're due.
  21. All Right just what our Bullpen needs...Extra Innings! Sigh, that is the one thing Gomez hasn't had an improvement on this year from last is BA RISP.
  22. Come on Segura! Just what I was hoping for the night he was having to get a chance to win in bottom of 9th.!
  23. Ugh, I made the Hellacious mistake of trading for Brett Lawrie during the time Ryan Zimmerman was out on the DL. I traded away Alex Cobb. My staff currently sits like this: Yu Darvish,Max Scherzer,Kris Medlen,Matt Harvey,Marco Estrada,Shelby Miller as having Drafted. I drafted Alex Cobb. I drafted and DL slotted Brandon Beachy I picked up Patrick Corbin April 6th which was his first start of the season dropping Dan Staily. And then I picked up Andrew Cashner as my fill in after trading away Cobb. I ride with a slot to stream a 2 start pitcher in a week but currently I'm rolling with Jason Vargas. Oh, this is a h2h 12team league with cats of K,ERA,Whip,Win,QS,Sv. I have Rafael Soriano for my closer and hiccup picked up Frank Rodriquez when Henderson went...kinda coincided with a Bench bat I had of Josh Rutledge being sent down to minors. Figured why not? As you can probably guess I'm either leading or top 3 in all cats aside from Saves. It's just annoying to think I could have sat with Cobb and then had Beachy come off the bench to have a full staff of Harvey,Darvish,Scherzer,Medlen,Miller,Beachy,Corbin, with Estrada/Cashner my spot starters. Anyone know of any of those pitchers, I should be concerned of IP limit? Miller? Corbin?
  24. Rickie being Rickie Non Clutch with another 3k Game. Come on Rickie! That's 3-41 RISP on the Season. What's the all-time worst BA with RISP with say over 50PAs? in one season? Over 100PAs in one season? It's be just something to at least say well, Rickie could be so and so in such year who batted an even more horrendous non clutch RISP than he.
