  1. Someone that gets put to reliever where his velocity picks up 1.5-3MPH. Looks like in 2019 he had the piggyback role coming in games 3rd or 4th inning some 0 runs 3-4IP stints. Had 1 game last season for Angels clean 1IP. Looks like 4-7th innings type role as needed for bullpen. Not so much what Suter did with spot starts. But 1-4IP games hopefully eating innings when bullpen needs relief. I think Seminaris you're looking at similar duty when shuffled in to Majors. Peguara at 6'5" and that 97+MPH feels more of your 7th inning guy that maybe develops to 8-10inning should they fix something in him. You've gained 2-3years in 3 guys of pre-arb salary with options shuttling to be your 5-7th(floor) depth relievers. I feel like FO has traded for at least 1 of that potential reliever each of the last 6 seasons now. Most 1-2yr rentals. They got 3 with near full team control to see if they can solve the constant turnover.
  2. Way to take the recent success as a small sample and comp it to the franchise success overall. Then take an early date offseason move "Nov 22nd" as if the offseason was over and lament how the Front Office does business. Zero brain power up there huh? Tomorrow must be Opening Day. There's clearly no other moves coming. Just crap on the team attitude pretending you're a fan. Attendance throughout much of Miller Park's shows that Milwaukee is a viable ML town. The market is small and will never bring fans who think it's good business to run it like a big market. Suggest the team relocate? That will just be a smaller market. Look how the expansion teams have done monetary. Miami, Tampa, Arizona, and Colorado. None of them are top 10 or 15 in payrolls. Milwaukee is better for Baseball than removing them from the ML circuit. Big picture brain power. Team has multiple top 100 Outfield prospects Chourio, Frelick, Wiemer, and Mitchell graduated off. All AA and higher level. They can't play if a guy like Renfroe is blocking them. You keep blocking them that "can't expect and rely on rookies to produce right from get go"? Well, you can't remove the label rookies if you just wait for 2024 to play them. Then it's another offseason complaining the team won't fix its offense problems playing these rookies. I remember when a group like Braun, Fielder, Weeks, and Hart splashed on the scene and made us pine for better pitching to compliment them. We have SPs. We have 4 top 100 OFs to plug in to the lineup by the time September rolls around. What we don't have is a bullpen solidified. This trade doesn't answer the bullpen future, but gives options the team needed. Renfroe being the team's best hitter in 2022 is a small sample. Adames, Wong, Tellez, even Yelich isn't far off. But just look at that 28gm sample of Garrett Mitchell coming in above them all in terms of OPS+. Nov 23rd. Come back April 23rd and nothing else was done to lament the trade.
  3. So you know 2 of them have already played in the ML.
  4. You forgot Chourio. I don't know the team can keep his bat down a full season. He's probably kept down past Super 2 unless he struggles at AAA.
  5. Gotta look at the minors with these guys and see that they were rushed. Junk likely becomes Suter role. Team may see something as a RP letting him pitch his best 2 pitches. Peguara is a guy who was RK level in 2019 inserted to A+, AA, traded, AA, AAA, and 3gms pitched for Angels in 2021! Then AAA to Majors with Angel's 2022. I think his better days are ahead of him as the experience catches up. Seminaris is your lottery ticket. Lefty SP thus far. Do they stick with that or move him to BP and his pitches play up. Dealt from depth, saved 10-11mil to use elsewhere, acquired RPs which was a need with options. Solid trade. Obvious trading Renfroe was to happen. Wong next. Then add someone or extend 1 of Burnes or Woodruff with that 20mil upfront.
  6. Pretty sure this needed to be done and said. One of the first arguments against trading youth for a player has to be, of theres FAs who are quality, why not just pay them and save the prospects. Well yeah we also have reached out to Torres and Turner. Is Seattle a place free agents want to go to? I'd expect a team who takes interest in Wong such as the Mariners could look at extending a contract beyond for 2-3 years being his mid-level cost yet consistency. Mariners don't seem to have a clear 2b coming up in minors.
  7. "Unless they pick up some salary"? Wong is a near 4WAR player. Paid at 10mil? He bats like he did last season and plays defense like in '21 he's a 5+WAR player. I said it earlier for those who do that trade value site, what does that amount to? I'd take the value and add 5-8mil depending on am I getting whom I want or is the other team? So if I'm not getting what I want, they are paying more value to entice me to take their offer. Jesus. I decided to look it up myself. Some how a player a virtual lock for 3WAR at 10mil is just 100k of trade value. .1! BRef War above 3 puts Wong in top 10 of 2b. And he's at 5years running doing such. I imagine that projection model puts Wong for that age adjusted 1.4WAR to decide his trade value is .1.
  8. BRef has Wong over 3WAR each playing for the Brewers last 2 seasons. He was worth over 5WAR in 2019. 10mil for what is a 3WAR 2b with 5 possible is certainly a reason for the Mariners to trade for Wong for a prospect/s. I seen Winker as an option. Guy had a brutal year last defensively that his positive defense he carried for his career was waxed and turned negative. I'm not sure where you're putting him without ridding of Renfroe. There's the salary you're taking on that feels the Mariners need to add a top 5 prospect of theirs. I can't really find another ML player to trade for that makes sense. Kelenic is an OF making the what 6? Brewer OFs in the pipeline down a notch. I just dont understand trading for OFs when you're set there for the next 5+seasons. You are also set at SP for 2+ seasons maybe more. Prospect? Sure. ML experience no need. Having looked this over more I'm pretty sure it's going to be a win for Sea and a headscratcher for Milw.
  9. #8 Mariner MLB prospect is 1b/3b Tyler Locklear. 2 years away. Off to a solid batting debut thus far after being drafted. Probably add a low value ML RP or a young lottery ticket to Locklear call it a day. 10mil gained to spend elsewhere.
  10. How are you coming up with Turang as 310 bases? Isn't slugging percentage a factor of Total bases per AB? Turang had 219 bases from his hits.
  11. That's what will happen when your punt returner fumbles and your defense can't get a break off the field in 2nd half. ToP.
  12. Is it a big overpay? Maybe for the 4 prospects he named, but 4 prospects in a Burnes trade isn't unreasonable. He's a 40Mil+SP on open market who's liking not reaching half that in Arb the next 2 seasons. LA will also have the immediate ability to discuss and sign him to an Extension that could save say 5Mil AAV than waiting possibly 2 years to sign him to a FA deal with draft pick QO cost. Something too that if he reached FA with them they would potentially get back a draft pick if somehow lost him to it. I mentioned my 4 that seem realistic and maybe(likely) an underpay. Burnes brings so much trade value at the moment you haven't seen this in quite awhile.
  13. All I needed to see was Vargas at 1b/3b and I'm intrigued immensely. I wouldnt go Lux or Miller. I'm taking the Dodgers #1 catcher Cartaya and then a 2024 SP Nick Nastrini. You would find long term solutions at 1b and C. Since you don't need SP right away in 2023- Nastrini needs a full season in AAA while Miller does not and both on the same IP ladder. Nastrini has a familiar minors line-Freddy Peralta. Low hits off of and high Ks to IP. Now if we take Nastrini, do we get a lottery ticket to add in value? Cartaya is 8th vs Miller 26th on MLB ranks. Nastrini isn't in top 100 and Lux is about Miller's value So I'd assume so. Michael Grove got in 29IP with 6starts and 1 RP. #24 on MLB list. Would fit a RP/Emergency SP to plug right away for '23.
  14. Yep... Nope. Not going to waste my time
  15. Other teams from 2018 to now came out of rebuild and push their payroll closer to where it's expected. Think White Sox, Padres, Mets, Braves,Phillies, Giants?, Blue Jay's, and Maybe Seattle or Angel's. Brewers should be in the 20s for payroll rankings.
  16. Ruiz was said to have very low exit velocity. Like 84MPH? Maybe up to 86? Now I dunno if that includes balls he put in to play off bunts and he bunted a lot to eschew the EV. What I see future value in that player is like Billy Hamilton or Ben Revere. Nothing special at season's end. Not a game changer pitchers fear. Hader a game changer hitters feared. Then there's Gasser. He sits what 90-92? Let's say that comp is Eric Lauer or even Zach Davies. That's #3-4 SP that isn't feared as a ceiling with 0 RP threat these days of hard throwers like Hader. The trade made no sense with the return. You could have taken any number of the prospects involved in the Soto/Bell trade and dealing with larger upsides. Fleeced. Hope Hader helps lead SD to WS. His career deserves a Championship.
  17. The trade would have been fine had Lamet not been dfa waived or whatever. How the team acquires Ruiz and keeps Davis vs Lamet is an epic fail. 1 in the same. Hader is better than Rogers but Lamet would have been better for the depth of the RP at the time. I honestly feel Ruiz is at best a quad-A OF. So you get to Gasser for Hader at this stage for the trade of best RP last 3+yes at the point of the trade. Absolutely fleeced and while we believe in Stearns the team should honestly let Arnold go. He's the GM. Stearns can retake the GM role while they find a new hire.
  18. I think the Brewers FO is at a crossroads with whom they are going pay up next. Not only is there Burnes, but Woodruff, Adames, Lauer, Houser, and even Tellez that you have to consider what amount of money and length can we do for such and such that we can work with such and such a deal? Maybe Ashby's extension is the result of missing out on Burnes Extension because of the results in 2019 vs believing in the stuff. I'd also go with these 2 thoughts. Whom of Woody or Burnes do you trade vs extend? Well maybe they are waiting on which one goes down to injury first-TJ. Damaged goods is less value than the arm still working. Trade healthy-Extend the TJ(since it seems to boost pitcher performance) Or maybe There's an offer for Burnes on the table that is forthcoming which make extension talks redundant. Why begin one putting Burnes on the -they want me long term thoughts- only to trade him away a few months later? I think the trading of Woodruff or Burnes happens this offseason and the extension talks proceed with the one they keep.
  19. If we can solve pitch calling within 10secs by challenging it-hitter,catcher, or pitchers Only- I am fully for that. 3 challenges though is too few. But then again it was said if successful you keep. There's nothing more frustrating than a clear strike 3 called a ball or a 3-x pitch called a strike. Maybe just pitchers and hitters and not so much catchers challenging. The stats for hitting when ahead vs behind on a count is drastic and the ability to turn a count from 1-2 to 2-1 will definitely increase offense marginally. Edit add- Just thought that umpire crews for playoff games-WS could be determined by those with the least overturned challenge calls. This provides incentive for umps to call games best they can. I'd assume they are paid extra for each postseason game worked.
  20. Couldn't you make bases larger while not actually decreasing the length between bases?. You'd only increase the 2 sides that don't give a runner a gained advantage.
  21. Would be nice if SD or Phi would win games and make it blatant we weren't making the playoffs. Can't jettison these guys until you're officially out of the playoffs. I believe at least. Since the 3 weren't on the team start of Sept that they can't be put on playoff roster? As for the game. Perdomo pitches 2 clean innings in return. Goes back out and in 8pitches gives up 4runs. Now Counsell can't be put on the hot seat for that Appearance. What puts him on the hot seat is removing your Starter once again below 100pitches when dealing. Why if you're down to your bottom 2 in order for bullpen first ups are you not letting Woodruff at least face 2more batters? Don't want him to finish with a 7IP 3ER line? DH this year and CC continues to remove the good Starts too early.
  22. I see. Well maybe someone will now have a better guess. I had to look it up to understand where I should be feeling a guess. I had no clue on Gallen who he was until reading the pregame comments. So obviously I wouldn't have a guess on who he was traded with. How lucky that we aren't facing both as often as we would had they both never been traded away.
  23. Surprised no one has taken a stab at thos. I'm guessing it's because the wording. So is the pitcher someone traded this year? In the past before this year? Where's Drew Rasmussen fit on this answer?
  24. The team chemistry is a joke. Team needs a full breakdown on nearly all the offensive players. Renfroe, Wong, Adames, Urias, whomever is a catcher still with the team(all of them), Tellez, Peterson, Taylor, and Davis. Mix in Lauer and Woodruff. Burnes, Peralta, Ashby, Houser are a good enough rotation to build around. All these trade-aways youre looking for a 3b, 1b, C, 2b/SS and some pitching to dream on. The lack of (all the guys I listed above on offense trading away) multiple players getting hot building off one another tells me there's no vibe going on. Thought Adames was supposed to be this great clubhouse guy but where is it this season? He's been below average. Urias clearly isn't the future. Tellez I'd say you're selling high. Just in need of changing the scenery of the lineup. Adding Turang, Frelick, Mitchell, Wiemer and soon Chourio I hope becomes a start. Youll have Yelich(not movable) Hiura and Brosseau(someone to play 3b) still around for time being. Just want the lineup to not feel hopeless after these past few seasons. Men on base 0 outs and you know you're about to see 2 strikeouts and a groundout/flyout.
  25. 1 run in 2 games in Arizona. A park I feel the Brewer bats typically do damage in. You're at a time where you need a spark and it's lifeless. It's over for this team. Doesn't feel like 1 side feeds off the other. Pitchers put up 0s bats do too. Hitters put up 4-7 pitchers giving up 5+.
