  1. I will take the 2 RPs with longer control and BP depth over a redundant Util Inf that failed expectations. If the offense is going to be this absolute terrible, best thing to do is have a few more BP arms to pick up garbage innings to shuttle. When 2runs by an opponent seems like 5, may as well put your 24-26th BP rostered players to work. Better return imo than cost for Claudio and potential draft choice lost. And who knows? Maybe at 1-3 and the offensive fails being shown, you're planning ahead for a trade deadline where Milw has it's share of players to trade off. These two if any good shown can be included....or backup who is sent from the current bullpen(Hader,Suter,Boxberger for example)
  2. It's a move. Good. Great even. Arcia was never going to live up to the 3b bat playing 3b. He didn't live up to a SS bat. Daniel Robertson can play the role Arcia departs. McKinney can play more often. Add Taylor in OF. 2 prospect pitchers reportedly return. Gotta be mostly unknowns, international signing teens? That or 1 will be a fallen former high draft pick. Just glad the Arcia madness that is watching him at the plate is over. I hope Atlanta fixes him and he does so much more than ever did in Milwaukee. Simply to show how awful the hitting coaching surrounding the team has failed to improve their hitters.
  3. What exactly is Hiura's track record? Hit low minor league pitching as a college draftee, get bumped up to AAA and have your strikeout rate soar above 26%, get to the majors and strike out 30% of the time but have it masked by a .400 BABIP and then keep the 30% strikeout rate but inevitably have the BABIP drop to a more reasonable level cratering your offense. The rookie year was the fluke, this is who he is, pitchers have adjusted and he's going to need to adjust to their adjustment to be something more than a replacement level bat. How do you adjust when its clearly Hiura at fault. Swings and misses. Like Olt its time to have his vision seriously looked at.Hiura's motion imo hasn't looked bad swinging. He's just not making contact with his timing and or swinging but not where pitch goes through zone. Come to think of it, think is Keon Broxton level with the misses.
  4. So last 2 innings top 6 in order all watched strike one go by them. Think now I'm to look back on game feed and see just how many batters took the first strike. 1st-2/3 with Hiura swing and miss 2nd-2/3 Garcia swung and hit in to out 3rd-2/3 granted Arcia took on 3-0 and pitcher Anderson. 4th-1/3 Hiura swing and miss again. 5th-0/3 6th-3/5 Wong takes his 3rd straight 1st Strike. Hiura swings and misses on 3rd straight 1st strike. 7-4/5 JBJ though on 3-0. Narvaez HR on his 1st strike thrown. 8- 3/3 Wong #4 in a row. Hiura finally didn't swing but did on strike 3. 9-3/3 Total-20/31 1st strikes looking. Looking at strikes has been something I thought was problem last year? Or was that 2019? Just suggesting a correlation maybe to Haines hitting approach that is not doing well.
  5. So top 3 all took 1st pitch strikes that inning. Just gross. 5 swings and misses later 3ks.(1foul ball) these are not upper 90s most tonight in upper 80s. I don't get how so bad vs BP velocity.
  6. Typically I'd agree. But Hiura as somebody noted, had the worst in the zone contact last season and it's very obvious hes not making contact on direct middle of zone pitches already. 40%k pct is going to be tough to carry a 220BA. That's not 1b material. Get him figured out in the minors rather than sitting through this pain. Or just fire Haines to buy him some time.
  7. When was the last time Keston played 1B before this year? Seriously? Ever? Yelich to 1B makes sense if he can handle it. He is the worst OFer of the 4 we currently have and he's a huge target. I doubt they make a move like that without giving him a spring training to work it out though. Throwing him out there now wouldn't be wise. It isn't nearly as ludicrous as you "hinted" at. It is ludicrous as it was stated that it’s the most obvious move they could make. And I’ll stand by it. Yeah I understand that. How long dud it take for them to be okay with Braun at 1b? Didn't he make a partial transition during the season? 2019 was it? When Jesus and Travis struggled themselves off the team?
  8. We're playing Hiura at 1st who never did prior to Spring Training. I think Yelich could pick it back up like riding a bike. Catchers play 1st often with little experience.
  9. For who? The whole team isn't hitting. I think a most obvious move would be Yelich to 1st. The other 3 OFs highly paid playing OF. Taylor called up.
  10. Yardleys gameday pitch track these pitches look absolutely flat as can be. Serving them up on a platter. Not a good visual sign for me.
  11. Whiffs down the middle. Fouls down the middle. DP groundout barely below middle outside. Bat him 7th already or option him. 0-14. Probably has had the most amount of down the middle pitches on the team. Reminds me of that 3b from Boston who was used on the Cubs for 9days or whatever amount to gain 1year on Bryant.
  12. If gameday is correct. Ump is calling a low strike zone. Last 3 via called strike were below the box. Ball vs Hiura was on top of zone. Can we put the ball in play please?
  13. Baseball savant 1st time through the order has an expected BA of .103. On pace for a below .200 xba the last 3 games combined maybe even an average below 150 after the .073 xba game 2. Consider the worry real.
  14. Thinking Counsell and co set pitching order for Anderson to face Cubs vs Houser facing them. Then we will have Woodruff and Burnes. Houser likely is set up to be skipped sooner than later and Anderson jumps to #3. Freddy 4 and Houser down to 5. At least a setup of pitching orders to favor Milw vs division teams. Excited on Anderson, think better defense on field with his pitching will produce great starts. And Im sure he's more confident on the mound.
  15. Thinking Urias is finding his way to #2 in lineup and Hiura to 7 or 8. Another lengthy walk hy the kid Luis
  16. Well that makes Rasmussen's ERA look bad for the next 2 or 3 months.
  17. I thought 2nd or 3rd time through an order was supposed to be tougher? Arcia, Hiura, Garcia 3ks 5th inning and Pineda has 5 total now?
  18. Its a great time to be a fan for any WI Pro Sports. So much hype right now! 17ks in 10IP. Out-getters lets set a record this year.
  19. See this deal aging awful. What does he have to provide yearly WAR avg to be worth this deal? 5? 5.5? His bat isnt elite. Defense rarely ages well. Look at Elvis Andrus at less than half the avg annual. 2WAR and falling. Traded and sent money to so while 2WAR at 15mil. Mets found their next David Wright. Contract will keep them from building winning squads in next 4-5seasons.
  20. I expect very little 7inning games. Those would only happen if Woodruff was around 80pitches or less heading in the 7th inning. Short season last year. Teams will he less willing to deep starts. He's a guy that has 34 games to start ahead of him plus playoffs. 6 innings average puts him over 200innings. I think you want him to only be in the 170s heading in to postseason or 5plus inning average. Same is going to be true for everyone behind him not named Brett Anderson. Rasmussen, Suter, Lindblom are going to have their share of 3inning bullpen relief on games when the 1IP relievers need a break or game is out of control one way or another.
  21. I jinxed it. Come to check on the game. See its 6-0 and Im staring at the acoreboard...does that really say 0 hits by Reds? Go to MLB Savant scores and boxscore loads up. 6-1. Burnes just gave up a HR to lose his no-hitter. I'm bad luck man.
  22. Cain 2 for 3 HR and a walk today. Yeah thats the sign of an old OF with little left in him. He's going to have a great season. No pressure to play while hurt. Better defensive OFs around him this season. Put him on your Brewers' 2021 MVP watch.
  23. He did well. 6 baserunners in 5 1/3 IP will usually yield fewer runs than that, just a matter of sequencing. Other than the HR there wasn't much in the way of hard contact. And watching the replay of the HR it was a line drive that carried over the fence by maybe 5 feet above it. There are likely more stadiums where that is a double than Stadiums where it is a HR. Another Brewer Starter victimized by RP giving up inherited runner. Another one of those do you think CC is putting that RP in or giving the Starter a longer leash. 0BBs and 8ks for Peralta. That will do starting.
