  1. I think it has been proven by now that the Cubs giving up a player like Torres was an aberration, and we probably need to stop using that move as a template for what can be expected for Hader. That was an incredibly short-sighted move for the Cubs (even though it did lead to a WS title), as it likely cut their projected window significantly. That doesn't mean that the Brewers cannot get good value for Hader. But if you are expecting a top 10 MLB prospect talent, you're gonna be disappointed. I think we moved from a top 20 to the 25-40 range as a headliner between last offseason to here. What may be going on is the guys you want are top 20&untouchables by other teams or they aren't competitive to trade for Hader. Then where Hader's value sits, theres nobody you want. And taking less on guys you like but not for headliner is selling Hader short. Tamps seems ridiculous as a rumor because you know they have low payroll threshold. The only reason I see Tampa trading for Hader is with the idea to trade him the following offseason. 6plus mil works but 10mil is a hesitation. I know Ive done this multiple times but I'll have to look at the top 100s out there to see if my thought still holds plausibility.
  2. Maybe LA would look at Bryant as a 1yr deal who would cost just a few mil more than Turner(if Cubs didn't send any cash) Theres also the fact that Bryant has a big year they QO him and certainly somebody will bite and pay him. That or Bryant accepts at 18? Mil the following season. Kody Hoese a 1st rd pick is lurking. Don't know what progress he made in 2020 but his timeline was for 2022 prior. Not sure LA wants to block a top prospect of theirs with any contract longer than 2yrs. Turner slhas to feel this is his last chance at a big contract(thus 4yr ask) Just having a 3yr offer may be what wins Turner. Essentially remember weve had a big signing each of last 3 seasons. Only last year the signing was Yelich's extension. I'm still holding out for that 1 big signing this offseason.
  3. There are years where I can get behind a mini rebuild, but this year’s team is projected to have maybe the best pitching staff they’ve had in a decade. When you take both starters and bullpen into consideration, this could be a top 5 collection of pitchers in baseball. They need to find a couple of quality bats and make a run at this thing, in my opinion. At this point a trade or two is probably their best bet. Until Turner is gone there's hope. I'm sure most would feel fairly set by his signing.
  4. Nice lol. Just Imagine a FA signing okay!
  5. What if behind the scenes with Haders first Arbitration, the Arbitrators "pushed" on the Brewers end to use Hader almost exclusively as closer? Like we're going to rule in your favor but for Hader's side, we want this process to go easier and suggest he be used in the typical 8, 9, 10th inning role a closer is used. And thus Counsell obliged. Say Counsell hearing of this is partially why he fully thought Hader should have won his case, because it meant managing him how he didn't want to only manage him. Anyway back to Hader trade ideas. If the price is too high so be it. Trade deadline then. Cubs finally added somebody and Cards may add Arenado. So maybe some competition atop the Central still exists. We are set up to trade around the deadline from SP, OF, Inf and C. So if team isn't in the running, Hader and co could help a minor influx of needed talent at a better time.
  6. Only thing I have against giving up the 3rd is that wouldn't a loss of Watt to FA net a 3rd? So it'd have to be higher than 1 3rd to trade for him. Moving on to a new DC. Say that entails a 4-3, would you think Gary stays as a LB?, or move up to DE play? Back where he played College. Smiths on outside, whomever wins the MLB. You have to feel with how he set the edge the second half of season and pass rush pressures on QB, he'd just fit there well without having LB role.
  7. Statcast does like Frazier mildly on XBA and on k% and whiffs. But he's in bottom 20% or lower in all other categories. That breakout comparison to Turner shares no sign currently about to happen. So hope and pray he becomes the next Turner age 28 makes the trade idea a good idea. Maybe a reason he beats Milwaukee pitching so often is his first pitch swing pct has been under 22% compared to 28+ League avg. Our guys don't exactly light up the strike zone these past 4years. He's probably had a lot of favorable counts.
  8. Ya had to do it. The Brewerfan toss in Ray trade idea. Can't dislike the yankee fans trade ideas for Hader now that you done so.
  9. Statcast loves Turner. Guy is consistently in top 10% for expected BA and k%. Basically outside of being slow he's top 20% across the board sans exit velo. Put him ahead or behind Yelich. Take advantage of that BA. 3b solved big time.
  10. The poster was referring to Brewers GM, Matt Arnold. Oh. Behind the curve. Iike AmFam field it'll take a bit to adjust away from Stearns. So as new GM wouldn't you think he wants 1 splash signing or trade before the season begins? The idea gets my hopes up a little more on Turner.
  11. Frazier is 6 years younger, substantially more athletic, and likely a substantially better fielder than Cabrera at every position other than maybe 1B. Frazier also brings a sizable amount of OF experience to the table. Who with limited upside and a rising contract becomes a non tender candidate next season. Especially if his bat reflects 2020 numbers. Cabrera is a switch hitter. Frazier looking at splits seems closer to a platoon player. It's just so limited and he doesn't fit in the roster without moving him somewhere hes far less experienced in. Hard pass.
  12. Not sure I follow. His upside is a 2-2.5 WAR player. 10HRs is his career high in a season. OB of .338 for career. Sorta epitome of High Floor, 0 ceiling making 4+mil next season. Like I said go sign Asdrubal Cabrera if you want a high floor 0 ceiling player. He at least has a lil more pop and played effectively all the infield. No loss in prospects.
  13. Turner is looking for a 4 year contract at $17-20M per. He's not happening. Maybe LaStella (baring any Hader trade for a 3B) at 2/$14M is about as high as Arnold can go for a FA. I really like your Cabrera move and maybe he could be had for a little less than $4M. However even these moves brings the payroll in at $90M and I don't know if Arnold will be allowed to go there. Who is Arnold? On Turner. He's 36. Michael Brantley is 34 and more athletic. Brantley could only get a 2yr contract even though his bat compares with Turner's. It's a depressed market for majority of teams. Turner won't be getting a 4yr contract. I'll quit BF if he does. Turner has regressed from his last contract that one was 4years 64 mil from LA who back loaded the last 2 years at 19&20mil. If the guy having his best season at age 31season turning 32 can only get a 4yr contract at 16AAV from the Dodgers. He sure as heck after regressing isnt approaching 17-20M-AAV 4years later. I see now why the projection for him was 2-24. Get caught up he made 20mil last season as if that was what his value had been in a recent 1yr or 2yr deal. But it's just a backloaded amount. He accepted 25mil those first 2 seasons that should be the max right there for him 2-25. This goes back to my 2yr with mutual option 3rd yr. 10, 12, and 3 buyout. With 15 if mutually agreed. Max 3-37 or 2-25 guaranteed. If you can get Cabrera for 3.5-4mil to play 1b with Vogelbach as backup. That would go a long way improving the outlook of this offseason.
  14. This next draft GB had better find a Randall Cobb type Kick-Punt returner smaller bodied slot type WR. Is Cobb the last flashy KR GB had? May want to announce this because who in their right mind would want to take GBs Special Teams Coach opening? I don't pay attention to all who's on the field during kickoffs or punts but that right there hasn't had that "guy" who seems to make big tackles for awhile to. I guess when you have more passing TDs than punts it's easy to not have one on punts. But we did lead the league in offense and I couldn't name one for kickoffs.
  15. Yankees fans have seemingly included Florial in every trade proposal for the past half-decade. Kinda lime Brewer fans sending away Ray lol.
  16. Why would Justin Turner take a 30% pay cut and play for 14 million dollars a year? His non pro-rated salary last year was for 20 million dollars. Moreover, Marcus Semien just got 18 million dollars per year, Michael Brantley got 18 million per year. Light hitting Andrelton Simmons got 10.5 million, and career back up catcher James McCann got 10 million per year. 99% of these players don't care where they play, and will go to whatever team will pay them the most. An established vet like Turner is most likely content to wait it out until such a time he is sure he's not leaving any money on the table in negotiations. Neither of those two fact makes him likely to wind up with Milwaukee on a cut rate deal. If he was willing to take a one year deal and a huge pay cut, I imagine he would have already resigned with LA. I'm going off the projection of 2/24. FGs among a couple other googled sites I seen. So the 1 year deal with mutual option or 3mil buyout would technically pay him 14mil for 1yr. Higher than the 12AAV hed make on a 2/24. And I'd make it higher than 2/24 with the buyout if they signed him to 2 plus mutual mutual option. Point being pushing the buyout amount back rather than the money during 1st yr in an offseason of teams shedding payroll. I dont know what LA or the other 2 teams are offering. Maybe 2/24 is as good as it gets. Maybe its a work around towards a 2/28 deal. Brantley is 34 just as consistent as Turner has been. He didn't get 20mil for age 34 or 35 like Turner. Semian the projection was 3yr at 16 per. 18 on a 1mil deal is taking more 1yr and testing FA in a less depressed market. Theres recent history via Grandal and Moustakas to build a bigger payday in next FA.
  17. It's not really a prove it type deal just mean playing 1 year in to a better market with the highest probability to have a fantastic season playing often in hitters park's and AAA pitchers 1/4 the time. If 12mil a yr for 2 seasons is the projection I'd imagine he can build himself in to a 14 or 15mil a year for 2 seasons after 2021. Maybe more?
  18. I see 2/24 projected to Dodgers. So Brewers could toss say a 2yr with option deal. Say 10/12 3mil buyout or 12option. Maybe you convince him on a 1/11 with mutual option of 12mil or 3mil buyout. Try selling him on a 1yr "prove it" on what is looking like a weak Central with MP to hit HRs in. A big season by him with a better post covid market and he can take the 3mil and test it. A hitter like him should be licking his chops to play over half his season at MP and over half this season's opponents 60-70s win teams.
  19. Thinking at the moment you ask insane now and proceed with the season waiting for a deadline deal of Hader. What this does is give scouts a chance to watch players in the minors and give you a better feel whom you would like to target. So many in the top 100 that have no professional abs or nearly none. Living off of the drafts and international signings the last 2 years. Gotta love the fans here that think Hader will lose it at any moment here just because he's pitching as a reliever, so trade him now. Yeah Im sure thats his plan to regress with 3rd Super2 and FA 2years after the season. If anything one would have to think he's striving to be better because his job/role has competition named Devin Williams. The amount of teams that are or have been aggressive lately is increasing. We've added the Mets, Blue Jays to the group of Dodgers, White Sox, Padres, Yankees, Braves, Phillies. Probably addin 2-3 teams in AL come deadline depending where they stand. Bidding war will result in a better return.
  20. I guess I'd take King back on a 1/$3m deal to be the nickel corner, but I don't think he's a legit #2/boundary guy (but someone may stupidly pay him like one). Considering the fact that he's good to miss 2-5 games a year with injuries and their limited off season resources, the correct call is likely to let him go. As for Jackson, obviously it's a huge off season for him. New DC, potentially new DC opinions, and a clear opportunity to step up into the hole likely vacated by King. If he can't play his way into at least the Sullivan/3rd CB role, he's likely a camp casualty, IMO. I'm fully prepared for King to sign a cheap deal someplace like Pittsburgh, Seattle, or New England, then proceed to play like a stud next year, ala Casey Hayward. He has every physical tool you'd want in a corner, but for whatever reason, hasn't been able to put together the consistency needed at the position. He's probably a guy who at this point needs a change of scenery. Also, be prepared for the Packers to target CB early in the 2021 draft. Nope no way. King is bad. Hayward had heart and willingness to tackle. King will tackle WRs but a TE or RB its Alligator arms and throwing his body at the guy hoping it's enough to throw guy offbalance to the ground. It's like he has only 80% focus and takes plays off because in his mind he shouldn't have that play come his way. On the TD before half, Im sitting there thinking they're going to throw a quick 6-12 yard out and kick a FG. King just let's his guy run free by him because no way does Brady have the arm to chuck it straight before the endzone. Its like an Ah S* moment as guy passed him they really going to do that? Hes always going to remain bad.
  21. Wanting to play and being able to are two different things. The way things looked after 2019 suggested that the latter may be an issue. Regardless, if the point is that they 'should have used their first to get Aaron more help to win while he's still here', it was literally the same thing Packer fans were saying in 2005 and for the next several seasons. I literally remember someone calling into a radio show after the SUPER BOWL WIN, refusing to give Thompson credit for the XLV win and Rodgers pick, because 'if they had drafted more help for Favre we would have won 2-3 more super bowls with him....' They went and got the guy they wanted to transition to from Rodgers. Fans can (and clearly, some of you do) hate that, but we won't know if it was the right move for 5 years or so. Just please don't be that guy calling into the show after the Super Bowl LX win claiming that if they had drafted a WR in 2020, we'd have won 3 more titles with Rodgers.... Maybe cuz that caller was you? Love was a terrible pick by moving up to get him. I advocated for Queen when moving up. I dont understand how he rates the worst LB with 3 sacks 2 Forced fumbles two fumble recoveries 9TFL 10 QB hits 1INT over 100tackles. Simply bad at coverage? Maybe that goes with scheme? Maybe thats just him being a rookie. Either way Queen was out on the field his rookie year well over 70pct of snaps. Unlike Gary last season who snap counts lowered during his rookie season. I really wanted Claypool. But you know thinking about this season and not drafting a WR for Rodgers also meant not drafting a kick or punt returner. It was a huge misstep but Gutekunst with the draft. MLF made this draft even worse with not using Dillon in the 4th quarter after Jones was out of the game back in the 3rd. The whole idea drafting him was to win games on tired defenses during the 4th qtr in Dec and Jan. MLF showed no confidence to that ploy today. Thats 3 wasted picks and Deguara was a late 5th early 6th rd projection taken in the 3rd. (Maybe having that 4th you wouldnt have had to reach 2 rds there?) Speaking about Rodgers declined numbers is forgetting he and all those WRs were in a new system. Lower pass completion pct knowing Rodgers is directly him throwing the ball more often away rather than toss a 50 50 as Brady did today often.(it worked early for him so we lucked he kept at it) lower completion pct will mean lower yards per att. Aaron Jones was arguably the best RB in 2019. That will lessen his TDs. Adams missed 4games. Graham, Allison were terrible receivers. Rodgers number were a reflection of that. The need was obvious to draft a WR and 2020's draft presented with a lot of winners. Like someone said. TB provided Brady with winning solutions last offseason. Our offseason solution seemed to be Devin Funchess and 3years out.
  22. While MLF lost this game in the 4th qtr, I hope he's the Packers coach for a very long time. The guy has got it figured out for the first 30min in Football games. At some point he just has to find success coming out of half time with adjustments and decisions in the 2nd half. He finds that mojo you're looking at next Belichek. Hopefully he solves this soon before GB gives up on him with another few season results like this.
  23. MLF lost us THIS game(or at least didn't give us a chance to win it). But to say he only won 3-4 half this year? I don't agree with that one bit. Again, the FG was maybe the worst decision in Packers history, but his offense revitalized this team and Rodgers. This skill group led the league in separation yards per route. That's scheme, not pure talent. I get being frustrated, but I think you're being a little hard on MLF overall. Put this game on him though. 2nd halfs is my statement. In 18games If I had to chose what head coach won the 2nd half I feel 3 to 4 MLF did. I'd have chosen the other coach the other games. He won most of the 1st halfs this year.
  24. MLF lost this game in the 4th qtr. 2 TOs down 5 and you come out with passes and passes. AJ Dillon makes a great catch, carries TB defenders 6yds. The guy"drafted" to win you games in Lambeau 4th qtr. Never on the field both those 3 and out drives. You know why the passing game went stale right there? Because there was no threat of running the ball. Finally last drive 1st down run with Dillon 9yards carrying White Again on the tackle. Whatcha going do MLF? Put the kid back in your pocket and pass pass pass. 18games coached this year. I feel MLF only won 3 or 4 2nd halfs this season. My god 4th qtr at home down 5 and complete whiff on taking over the game running over what should have been a tired defense.
  25. It was a hold by King. He just can't stop being bad. You know what else was a hold? Rodgers Int.
