  1. the correct reason to do anything (especially music/the arts) is because you love doing it. anything resulting from that is incidental gravy. my guess is nickelback loves making money more than making music. otherwise they'd stop doing the first so they could do the second.
  2. just as long as you don't trade doug davis and dana eveland for the guy, then i guess it is.
  3. read the whole thread and this is where i come down... pro | linebrink helps now. sure he's trended downward recently, but i'll go with his body of work over the last few years as an indicator instead of a few rough outings on the verge of his child being born. coco, tbow, wise, villy, shouse, linebrink and parra is a bullpen i feel awesome about. cons | losing inman. garrison is a longshot, thatcher is a loogy so their losses don't really concern me. beefs | people who think they know already who "won" or "lost" this trade. let's give it some time, perhaps. you know, see what transpires. plus we didn't trade inamn for 25 innings or whatever. that's flawed logic. we traded him for those innings plus what will most likely turn out to be 2 picks in the top 100 of this year's draft. go crew.
  4. sorry, i'm computer foolish and don't know how to make the blue words appear. i kinda hoped the ruben quevedo part would give it away... though now as i look above me i see a drop down window which says color, so problem solved.
  5. i saw braun and ruben quevedo jet skiing there over the all star break.
  6. i don't see us moving jenks during the season. he's been a soldier as the longest tenured brewer and suffered through some terrible teams. to move him at this point before he's about to taste the postseason for the first time would be a classless move on the organization's part. now during the offseason...
  7. don't get me wrong as i absolutely love 3TO dunn, but carl crawrford is my dream leftfielder right now. but i guess that's a whole different thread.
  8. the correct pronunciation would be anHELL SAALohmay. as far as i'm concerned, though, he will always be angel (like the dead human/bird hybrid) salami.
  9. let's see one of those groundballs shouse.
  10. good pa hart, time to capitalize.
  11. juan pierre is out three. of this i'm (fairly) certain.
  12. will moeller ever be pinch hit for in a potential game changing situation? at the begining of the year yost said they needed to do the little things to win a game or two more per month, one of those little things is pinch hitting for your back up catcher with the bases loaded, one out, top of seven on the road with a full bench of more capable hitters at your disposal.
  13. don't swing until you have to chad
  14. there is definitely a difference between a and b, but in helms's case i don't see why it's wrong to be glad it happened. it was a temporary injury and the end result was helms playing less, which is what most brewers fans want anyway. so helms didn't get to play baseball for a few weeks, so what?there are a lot worse fates to have. not to mention it gave us the chance to give more pa's to ginter and hall, who deserve them more than helms at this point. regardless of how helms got hurt or gets hurt in the future, i will be glad it happens so long as it has no long term, negative effects on his life and has a positive effect on the team's win/loss record, which is inevitable. if that makes me cold hearted or an ******, i'm sorry, but helms shouldn't get nearly as many pa's as he gets and yost has been reluctant at best to take him out of the lineup. if a minor/freak injury is what it takes to get him out of the lineup, then that's what i'll have to settle for.
  15. if it wasn't for that wet ramp helms would likely be down around .220 or so by now (if not lower) and yost would still insist on playing him for no good reason. who knows, though, if it weren't for the wet ramp maybe he'd have 4 or 5 homers by now.
  16. endaround, that's cool about the win shares and all, but my main point was that clark has been our best hitter since the all star break and grieve has put up some gary bennett looking numbers in the same time frame, with the exception of a higher slg. i don't see how anyone can at this point argue that it's a good idea to sit one of our hottest bats in favor of one of our coldest ones. especially given the recent offensive struggles. also, as of 07/24/04 grieve had 8 win shares and clark had 5. so in less than two weeks clark has almost matched him for the season and will likely pass him if he continues his hot hitting after the break. maybe everyone that thinks grieve is a better player is right, but right now clark should be getting the majority of the pa's until he cools off.
  17. people seriously need to get off the clark vs grieve debate. i know, i know. grieve's got a slightly higher ops. but here's the thing. he sucks in the field, which in my opinion cancels out the small offensive advantage he has. also, since the break... avg | obp | slg 353 | 441 | 451 188 | 257 | 469 guess which is clark and which is grieve.
  18. did anyone else realize how dumb it was for yost to double switch capuano/moeller with wise/bennett? by doing so, gary bennett lead off the next inning and also came up again at the end of the game for a second at bat. the only reason i can think of for doing this is to give wise 2 innings of work, which was clearly the plan as he was left in for most of what would have been his 2nd inning of work despite getting healthily ripped. so weird that yost would leave him in so long. anyway, if they had just switched wise and cappy straight up they could have pinch hit for wise to lead off the next inning and brought a new pitcher in for the 9th. that way when moeller came up again he could be pinch hit for as could the pitcher's spot. this way grieve, kiesch and branyan all could have gotten an ab and gary bennet would have gotten none. granted, it's really a moot point in a 12-3 game, but at the time i belive it was 6-1. not out of reach by any means. and you'd think yost would give more consideration to get his best hitters out there when the team is behind, especially given the recent offensive struggles. getting wise 2 innings seemed to be priority one in that move, when it should have been the least of our concerns how much work wise got at that point. i don't know. i really like ned in a lot of ways. motivation, attitude, charisma, things like that. but sometimes i find myself seriously questioning his ability as an actual manager. he seems like he'd be more suited to be an nfl coach who lets his coordinators do all the work.
