  1. Perrin is the new Woodruff. Here's a scouting report from earlier this year: "Perrin is a large framed right handed starter with the potential for 3 average pitches. The fastball features slightly above average velocity paired with deception and the ability to command the pitch to 4 quadrants of the plate. The slider features short bite in the zone. He throws plenty of strikes and will be a durable innings eater at the highest level." Nice. Cannot remember seeing him listed as having above average velocity before but that would lend to the legitimacy of the results. I like the Gideon mention as well. I know it is secondary but I want to start winning some damn games in the minors. You need guys like Gideon to do that I think. Hopefully he can continue his impact hitting.
  2. My guess is Tavarez, De Leon or Yrizzari with Garcia as a major long shot
  3. It was deliberate. He is in 50-60 range for me. I'll admit he is hard to peg but I am just not sure if he can be anything more than a loogy. I spose he would fit in decently with the Wilkerson, Suter, Perrin grouping around 30. Goes to show there probably isn't much difference between 30 and 60. I would rather dream on Franley Mallen or Trey Supak I guess.
  4. Change from my pre-season rank in parenthesis. I really missed on Brandon Woodruff but the scouting reports are undeniably strong as are the results. He might belong above Phil Bickford. Glad to see Keon Broxton still showing on some lists and I could easily see him becoming one of the most valuable players on my list. Plenty of good players were left off. Brewers instructs this fall will be the hottest scouting spot in Arizona. Even if things go slightly wrong for the Hader, Ponce, Diplan, Peralta, Medeiros, Supak, Derby, etc., the Brewers would still have a plethora of high end bullpen arms to work with. Go Brewers! 1. Orlando Arcia (-) 2. Lewis Brinson (NR) 3. Luis Ortiz (NR) 4. Josh Hader (-2) 5. Corey Ray (NR) 6. Trent Clark (-3) 7. Isan Diaz (+5) 8. Phil Bickford (NR) 9. Brett Phillips (-4) 10. Brandon Woodruff (NR) 11. Cody Ponce (-4) 12. Jacob Nottingham (-8) 13. Demi Orimoloye (-1) 14. Marcos Diplan (-1) 15. Monte Harrison (-5) 16. Kodi Medeiros (-10) 17. Jorge Lopez (-9) 18. Freddy Peralta (+21) 19. Devin Williams (-10) 20. Keon Broxton (-) 21. Nathan Kirby (-3) 22. Corbin Burns (NR) 23. Lucas Erceg (NR) 24. Gilbert Lara (-10) 25. Taylor Williams (-) 26. Michael Reed (-5) 27. Rymer Liriano (-5) 28. Braden Webb (NR) 29. Zack Brown (NR) 30. Aaron Wilkerson (NR) 31. Jon Perrin (NR) 32. Brent Suter (NR) 33. Tyrone Taylor (-14) 34. Javier Betancourt (-12) 35. Joantgel Segovia (-7) 36. Troy Stokes (+8) 37. Angel Ventura (-10) 38. Miguel Diaz (+2) 39. Trey Supak (+2) 40. Clint Coulter (-25) 41. Bubba Derby (-15) 42. Adrian Houser (-25) 43. Carlos Herrera (-14) 44. Jacob Gatewood (-12) 45. Chad McClanahan (NR) 46. Nate Orf (-11) 47. Garret Cooper (-10) 48. Zach Clark (NR) 49. Mario Feliciano (NR) 50. Franley Mallen (-4) [sarcasm]Would you rather have the Brewers 26-50 or the Marlins 1-25?[/sarcasm]
  5. You have jumped the Jorge Ortega ship? He ranked highly for you previously if I remember? What happened to him do you think?
  6. Well said Colby. It's easy to be an armchair expert and scout the box scores. Brewerfan is home to some of the very best after all! But I like the shakeup. Let's see what happens.
  7. Half of Trent Clark's hits are XBH's. OBP about .120 above batting average. He is 19 and leading off tonight for WI.
  8. I'm surprised by the number of people who don't have him in their top 15 in the top 25 prospect poll. Everybody has him in, but many have him 18th or lower. I'm just as surprised by the number of people who don't have Wang in their list at all. Woodruff has my attention no doubt. Wang still seems kind of fringy but I admit to not knowing what to make of him.
  9. That is just it. Many of these guys aren't improving from the first half or are getting worse. At least it seemed like it when I was putting my top 25 list together. When you punch in the splits button, guys like Nottingham and Phillips are freefalling for second half splits. It's not over yet but I'm not going to deny Phillips and Nottingham are struggling. I had them at 5 and 4 in my preseason top 25 but they will be moving down. That doesn't mean their future outlook is trending down significantly. Phillips was clearly hitting and hitting very well. .900+ OPS in May. He took 18 walks in July despite not getting many hits. Something is up but let's not pretend there hasn't been plenty of success for him this season. Nottingham is very young for the league and reports on his defense have been improving if not still mixed. There is no rush for him but I certainly agree it would be easier to dream on him if he could have a big month. If you want to find some more silver lining, check out Orimoloye's walk rate this year. He's learning.
  10. I think second half splits will be a big deal. Aggressive placements suggest slow starts. If you want to feel better, take a look at what the 2016 draft class is doing thus far. Though I wish they could have found room for Ray in WI. Move him up when Harrison returns. Ray's August numbers will be interesting.
  11. He still had a boatload of walks and was perfect in steals. I'm not all that worried. There is probably some unknown context we will discover at a later time. For now, his first 3 months are probably much more indicative of his true skill. Impatience will do him no good.
  12. Great point. Essentially Bickford and Susac for Aoki who we were never expecting to sign in the first place. Amazing how these things go.
  13. This is really easy for me. Of course not. This guy was the top hitter in the draft two months ago. He is a fantastic prospect. Stearns and company were elated to get him. He is #3 for me behind Arcia and Brinson and right ahead of the pitchers.
  14. I am one that loved the Cleveland package. All of it. Meija is well on his way to top 25 status or higher. The Texas package is at least as good. Brinson projects as a 2-3 win player even if he doesn't hit .250. I bet he tops out with a couple 5-6 win seasons which would be all star worthy. Texas had plenty of projectable teenage arms to dream on but Ortiz is only 20 and has great stuff now. I love that his change up is well regarded. I think he is a #2 but he could tick up some still if he transforms his body a little bit. I am pretty confident we can mine a gem with the PTBNL. Someone with some major league qualities. I really hate to see Jeffress go. He was all in on Milwaukee and he was good.
  15. One thing I noticed about Susac is how consistently solid a hitter he was at every stop in his career. No matter what level you could count on him for basically a .775 OPS and often quite a bit higher. Thought that was interesting.
  16. "Ranger PTBNL" is having a nice season. He will be in consideration on my list
  17. Yes Sickles was darker than my outlook if only slightly. Otherwise pretty much what I said.
  18. He had an .800+ OPS a little over a month ago. The scouting reports have been fine. I'm not worried.
  19. I was really happy with the Cleveland package as well.
  20. Writing that probably made Olney so happy
  21. Fresh legs and positional flexibility are good things.
  22. I don't need someone on my team who needs garunteed playing time. What a baby
  23. I hope it's the Cubs that have to deal with this guy
  24. I don't understand how this wasn't worked out with Lucroy before we progressed so far
