  1. Yeah they wouldn't be taking a trade for the $50 bootleg model that everyone and their brother is sporting anyway that they bought from the guy who is also selling those shirts and hats with the Brewers/Badgers/Packers symbol mash up.
  2. I'm also ambivalent but leaning slightly toward the apathetic side. Ryan's never been a hero of mine or up on a pedestal for me. I also don't feel anything for anyone who worshipped him who was let down because they were just setting themselves up for a letdown from the beginning (by having an athlete as a hero to begin with.) I don't care if comes clean with the fans and apologizes or not. The feeling that I mostly have is of disappointment. For the reasons stated above about it being hard enough to be a Brewers fan without all this crap going on. And the embarrassing light it shines on my city.
  3. Just when I thought I couldn't hate ESPN any more than I already did. The bloviation is just nauseating.
  4. I'm going to dig deep in the archives and reread the interview with 20th-round pick Shea Vucinich and long for the good old days.
  5. Daddy tell us about that one time the Brewers had a no hitter a million years ago.
  6. Right in the middle of the stretch run for the pennant, his timing couldn't be any worse.

  8. Better get there early for that one.
  9. This is really funny http://www.baseballcardvandals.com/ Some pics slightly NSFW due to crude body part renderings http://25.media.tumblr.com/0aac08acc857d900d99510e86c492c7c/tumblr_mp4tb5YuvL1rmoryfo1_1280.jpg
  10. Freeway's Facebook posts are a trip too www.facebook.com/mccarterroosevelt
  11. or a "talking" edition similar to the Braun with a recording of Freeway saying something like "WHAT ARE SOME OF THE SERIES THAT THE BREWERS LOST THAT THEY SHOULD HAVE WON?"
  12. Kind of a perfect storm in that it's the weekend, there's not much else going on, it wasn't oppressively hot, and there seemed to be only one big name side stage show. I looked at the lineup and figured that most of the people who weren't at the Amphitheater watching Jason Aldean would be there to see Imagine Dragons. I'm old enough to remember when there were 40,000 people at the Huey Lewis show at the old main stage back in 1984. Not sure what the attendance was tonight but it's been dangerously packed before and it will be again.
  13. "Faced with a crush of patrons trying to get into the Summerfest grounds Saturday night, festival officials took the extraordinary step of allowing people into the grounds for free for a short time, an official said. Summerfest spokesman John Boler said he could not remember the last time the festival made such a move. He said it was necessary given the size of the crowd. Boler said the decision was made jointly between festival officials and Milwaukee police, who patrol the grounds. A police spokesman did not immediately return a call for comment. In a statement, Boler wrote that all three gates at Summerfest "encountered an extraordinary amount of patrons trying to purchase tickets." "In an effort to safely accommodate the customers, MPD and Summerfest temporarily opened the Mid Gate and allowed patrons in to Summerfest to alleviate some of the congestion for approximately 15 minutes," Boler wrote." http://www.jsonline.com/entertainment/festivals/summerfest-lets-patrons-in-for-free-to-relieve-long-lines-b9944933z1-213731131.html
  14. To be fair though, I don't think ticket sales would've been that high if you'd have told everyone at the beginning of the year that they'd lose 106 games. You have to factor in advance sales vs walk up. And I can't remember how they did it but didn't you have a shot at All Star Game tickets too if you were a season ticket holder? Also, I can totally understand both this- and this- Unfortunately, I've been leaning closer to the first category. I have a 10 pack myself and have friends with 20 packs whose tickets I occasionally use. The last game I was at was June 7th, when they won in the 9th on Ramirez's walk off single. I was more interested in eating the meatball with spaghetti in it and getting a margarita from Fridays and looking at the $45 t-shirts in the gift shop than I was in the game itself. I left in the 8th inning and listened to the end while I walked my dog and wasn't the least bit disappointed in myself that I left early. The magic is wearing off. I'm not completely jaded but it's getting to that point. Like I said before, I love living in a city with a major league baseball team and a cool stadium. But if things keep going the way they are, and say something happens like the Pirates make it to the World Series, it's going to be tougher for me to justify making it to more than a few games a year.
  15. I wonder how much it would cost me to make him to stop his inane yelling and interruption of my enjoyment of the game.
  16. Yeah basically the announced attendance is the number of tickets they sold for the game. It's not how many people go through the turnstiles on any given night. As far as the number of people showing up to games, I think it depends on how many of them bought tickets in advance. Most people aren't going to stay home and eat their tickets just because the team is playing poorly. You have to remember that the team sold a million tickets by the middle of January. I can't remember what the final figure was but a huge amount of tickets were and always are accounted for before the season even starts. Yeah, walk up sales are going to be heavily affected I'm sure so there's that. The answer to why people keep showing up to games is that they already have tickets. To answer the question why do I go, it's to have a good time with friends, eat some food, drink some beer, and be happy that I live in a city with a major league baseball team that plays in an awesome stadium. And to hope that I see a win. Yeah it sucks that the onfield product is subpar but that's the way it goes.
  17. Tried this for the first time last week and absolutely loved it.
  18. I'd love to see the video of this one again Brewers-A's at County Stadium in '93 Garner & LaRussa were going at it and BJ Surhoff got absolutely jacked in the face with a cheap shot by Edwin Nunez http://news.google.com/newspapers?id=yKFQAAAAIBAJ&sjid=ARMEAAAAIBAJ&pg=4794%2C6377856
  19. "There's some angry big strong men down there"
  20. Sorry, I was kind of vague here but yeah I'm not exaggerating. I tried to get rid of them on the day of the game in the area of the Yount lot and the bridge over Miller Park Way, starting about two hours before game time and checking periodically up until the start. I figured I could at least get face for them but scalpers were virtually nonexistent, I mean I think I saw tumbleweeds blowing through it was so sparsely populated with the usual guys you see reselling. Like I said, one of them offered me 5 bucks each and several others said no flat out after I said they were in the Terrace. That's too bad. When and where did you get them? You could have got them for probably 10 bucks each before the game if not less. There was absolutely zero demand for tickets on the day of. I think I've been to every home opener at Miller Park except the first year and I've never seen anything like it. I'm sure the weather had something to do with it, causing a lot of people who didn't have tickets who'd otherwise just go for the party and try to get one there to stay home.
  21. I think it's been that way from the get go this year. I had two decent Terrace seats on Opening Day that I couldn't get rid of. I think one guy offered me 5 bucks apiece but other than that there was no interest.
  22. Like Greinke last year and Braun last year and this year and were instantly ejected from the game in all three cases. Not saying it's right, just saying you can't be surprised if it happens.
  23. Yeah it's pretty much anything goes as far as food. If you're bringing something like Pringles I'd transfer them from the can into a plastic bag just to be safe. Bring everything in a plastic grocery bag or soft side cooler and use zip loc style bags and you're good to go. Carry-in Policy Fans may not bring into Miller Park any cans, glass containers or alcohol. Soda, water or juice must be contained in factory-sealed plastic bottles. Guests may bring food items into Miller Park using appropriate containers. All bags, purses, fanny packs or soft-sided coolers must be 16" x 16" x 8" or smaller and are subject to inspection. Hard-sided coolers are not allowed in the ballpark. Only food purchased within Miller Park will be allowed into Suite areas. http://milwaukee.brewers.mlb.com/mil/ballpark/information/index.jsp?content=guide
