  1. Such a sweet swing, hopefully he can cut down those Ks. Loving his potential! Think he should have got call over Fernandez who really has a major contact issue.
  2. Get Frelick to AAA! Kid is just roasting AA right now! Nice to see Turang showing more power lately. Oh & a healthy Mitchell reminding us what he can do. Alexander Cornielle may be the best of the young 20 & under International arms working way up. Many will go with Cruz with his command but it’s close between those two. Chourio with debut we all were hoping for! Was nervous he’d maybe have the bump slump many have while adjusting… hope he stays hot!
  3. I went through and crunched numbers to identify some of the higher achieving DSL players this season so far to possibly keep an eye on. I know when I look at box scores I'm always curious about more info on the players. Plus it will be fun to revisit in future to see what happens with some of these guys. I didn't go with anyone over 18 for it. I just feel at DSL their are a bunch of 16-17 year olds playing and being 19-20 is pretty big advantage at that this age. Pretty much high school verse college kids. The Repeats Yeison Perez 18, 5-10 165, OF, DSL Repeat at DSL this year and has shown major growth in every area. He is really excelling at what I like for a hitter profile with even more power.Currently slashing .321/.389/.691 with .370 iso, 10.5% to 21.1% BB% to K%. That includes 7 doubles and 7 HRs with a 164 wRC+. All up from .244/.293/.333 with .090 iso, 5.4% to 24.6% BB% to K%. Had 9 2b and 1 hr last season. Arnys Rodriquez 18, 5’11 173, 1B Another repeat at DSL this year and has shown good growth. Hit tool is still a question and limited power but walks a ton. K’s a little high but not too bad. Currently slashing .254/.420/.358 with 21.6% BB% and 27.3% K rate. Iso is up to .104 with wRC+ of 124 Edgardo Ordonez 18/ 5’11 155/ C/1B/ L/R A questionable repeat based on his line from last year. Curious as to why he was repeated. He is a catcher so even though the bat is ready they may want him to improve more behind plate. Last year at 17 had a slash of .298/.427/.440 with .868 OPS, a 148 wRC+. He had 13.6% to 19.4% bb-k rate with .143 iso. This year hasn’t been as outstanding but still impressive with wRC+ of 127, iso of .143, and BB% of 18.3%. His slash is .268/.408/.411 with .819 OPS. He increased his pull rate up to 60% which in return saw a spike up to 28.2% K rate. New Bloods Luis Lara 17, 5’9 155, OF S/R Contact bat with some pop. Doesn’t walk a ton but also doesn’t strike out either with a 6.2% to 13% BB-K% rate. He has the 2nd best OPS of the DSL bunch with .807 coming from a strong slash line of .298/.349/.458. He carries strong .160 iso lead by 10 2b, 4 3b, and 1hr. Speed is part of his game to stretch out hits but not helping on bases with 5 for 11 in SB attempts. Jhonny Severino 17, 6’3 185, SS, R/R Another bonus baby from 2022 signing day. Outstanding build who I guess may eventually slide to 3B. He has racked up 15 errors in 27 games playing both. His numbers don’t pop at all but a very solid debut so far outside of his k%. He sits at a .273/.350/.380 slash with .731 OPS. He does carry a .107 iso and it 7-7 in steals. He walks at a good 9.5% rate but 29.9% K% is too high. Has 8-1-1 2b-3b-hr line. Juan Baez 17, 5’11 175, SS R/R With Mogollon, arguably the best value signing of the class so far at only 10k. Was listed as a catcher but has been a mainstay at SS with some utility around infield. Batting so far is comparable to Luis Lara with less XBH. He carries a .296/.342/.415 .757 OPS. He also is a contact hitter with lower walk totals and low k totals sitting at 6.0% to 13.4% BB% to K%. Power is a .119 iso with 7-0-3 2B-3B-HR line. 10-15 on SBs. 103 wRC+ Johan Barrios 17, 6’3 180, 3B, R/R The biggest bonus getter with 1.3 million this signing class. Great build similar to Severino at 6’3 180. He is mostly a 3B with some time at SS. Injury has limited his games a bit. The power hasn’t shown up much yet but I love his approach! He has maybe the best and most balanced batted ball line to go with a very respectable BB% to K% rate. He has 23.3% line drive% (one of highest), 44.2% GB%, and 32.7& FB%. More impressive is how balanced he is with his hit chart. He goes all over the field evenly with 34.8%, 30.4%, 34.8% Pull, center, oppo%. His 13-22% bb-k% rate is encouraging as well. Only 3 XBH in 61 ABs for low iso of .066. Has a 102 wRC+ Francisco Nina 17, 6’5 175, OF, R/R Another 10k signing showing some great value not to mention this kid's size is very projectable at 6’5 175. He has a solid slash line at .265/.365/.349 with .714 OPS. Power hasn’t shown much yet for size but has a very nice 22% line drive rate and also like his 10.7% bb rate. He is a big pull hitter at 53% which could be part of the higher 27.1% rate. 4-5 on Steals, has 4 2Bs and 1 HR. Gery Holguin 16, 6’0 160, UTIF, R/R Got $450k signing bonus and turns 17 in August. He has been outmatched so far this season but there are things to like so far about this youngest kid on the team. First, he already has a good build/frame to grow and add strength. He has great eye at the plate with a 16.7% BB rate which despite inability to hit much he has a .341 OBP Outside of that, he is a kid who may need a 2nd year at DSL or have a big jump in the off-season. He is slashing .186/.341/.245 with .596 OPS. His iso is .059 behind two HRs. He is 3-5 in SBs so speed isn’t much of his game right now. Very pull happy at over 50% which could be why he is k’ing at a 29.4% rate. I added him because he is youngest and there is traits there to build off of Pitchers Osbriel Mogollon 18, 5’10 160, LHP For a 10k signing, he has been one of most impressive arms outside of his higher bb/9 of 5.64. Small stature has meant little for him, dominating opposing batters with 13.3 K/9, .133 BAA, 1.07 WHIP, and 1.21 ERA. His FIP is 3.08 and 3.58 xFIP. He gets GBs at a 48.8% Anfernny Reyes 18, 6’3 170, LHP While not as dominant as Mogollon, Reyes is having a very good first season. He has the body type that can add strength at 6’3 170 and is also a lefty. He has a 8.54 K/9 compared to 3.86 BB/9. Striking out 22.1% of batters he has only allowed .208 BAA with 1.22 WHIP. His 3.37 FIP/ 3.91 xFIP to go with 1.10 ERA. He doesn’t let the ball in the air very much at 27%.However does have a higher LD% at 19%. 53.4% ground ball. Manuel Rodriquez 16, 6’2 175, RHP The 2nd youngest pitcher in DSL who hasn’t dominated but has been reasonably solid for age. He has good build for a young pitcher and excellent command of the strike zone with only a 1.93 BB/9 (5 walks in 23 IPs) He is currently attacking the zone and difficult to get hits off of with a .188 BAA and 0.90 WHIP. He has 6.17 K/9 and 17.2% which doesn’t excite much. Solid 4.10 FIP and 4.53 xFIP. ERA of 3.09. I’d like to see if next year at 17 his stuff takes a jump to increase K’s which would really bump stock which shows how solid he is overall. Bryan Rivera 17 6’1 170 RHP Just turned 17 after the start of the season and is one of the higher pitcher signing bonuses in this class at $27,500. Good size and is right around where I like pitchers to be in K/9 to BB/9 at 9.60 to 3.00. He has been hit pretty good through with a .311. WHIP at 1.60. ERA and FIP not great with both over 5 BUT xFIP is at 4.04. Daniel Corniel 18, 6’0 177, RHP Just turned 18. I like the K/9 BB/9 ratio of 9.53 to 3.18. Overall nothing else that stands out very much except the 3.90 xFIP and decent 4.42 FIP. He gets hit at a .276 with WHIP of 1.48. He has given up 3 HRs at a 9.1% rate. High Line Drive rate at 21.7%. Always worth paying attention to young arms though with the ability to get some Ks and not walk at a high clip.
  4. I usually just go back through the international signing forums by year. I haven't stumbled upon a nice all in one list yet but could be out there. I am going through and making a google sheet but years like 2020-2021 have almost no details outside of the 5 larger bonuses. Can't find bonuses anywhere for guys like Castillo, Areinamo, Vallecillo, etc. If anyone finds those somewhere, let me know. Avina was drafted though last year though and is from Spanish Springs, Nevada. His bonus would be listed there
  5. I think Huira is still a very good dangling fruit for a team. He is only 25 still and a team confident in their hitter coaching/development could take that chance. He is an all-star bat if they can get him back to making contact and being the advanced hitter he was. Could be a Segura type thing. Change of scenery could get him back on track and get him to make contact again. I think Chourio & Frelick should be untouchable. Chourio's ceiling is way too high and Frelick's make up should make his floor at least a solid starter. I personally would add Kelly as well because I think he still has highest floor/ceiling combo to be an impact at MLB level. Guys like Weimer and Mitchell I'd hate to see go. Weimer has gone cold but up to this point has been outstanding. Mitchell just hasn't been healthy enough to really even maximize trade value so you'd be kind of selling low on him. I have a feeling that many teams would like to dive in and snag where Brewers are strongest, young lottery tickets in DSL to Carolina. A lot of exciting unproven potential in that group. Mendez I could see as a guy some teams could really like who may be easier to pry away than a Quero or Garcia and without the struggles with contact like Perez. Turang & Felicanio I could see being compelling for a rebuilding team. They are guys that right now could be called up and given a chance now while filling some gaps for that team. Our AAA team is basically journeyman and older guys so not much else there to really excite teams. Same could be said about AA pitching. Appears to be mostly guys who could maybe come up and file some innings but probably more AAAA types at best. Maybe Castaneda, I know some on here really like him...his season has been pretty eh though. A guy like Gray Jr. I could see a team wanting to be thrown in because of tools with hope they could increase contact.

  7. Maybe this is somewhere in the 16 pages but interesting write up on O’Rae. Very similar trend of hitter/player they like. Lives on base, doesn’t strike out, great speed. Weird he is considered maybe the best prospect out of Canada this year but BA left him out of top 500.
  8. No problem, I was just curious because I had a twitter discussion with someone who said he doesn't understand why people are high on him and doesn't like him much....then I'm on other end of spectrum and probably too high on him lol so like to see where differences are on view points of prospects. Sidenote on Mendez I was going back and looking at stuff yesterday and found it pretty interesting digging back into him. He is only 4 months older than Chourio and Brewers had advanced him faster up to this point (soon to change now with Chourio making a joke out of A ball pitching). He was best hitter in DSL last year and promoted halfway and then was basically top hitter in Arizona at 17 winning complex player of the year. Was youngest player to make Carolina to start season. So Brewers must be really high on him internally. Walks a ton, doesn't strike out much. Hits ball hard with a lot of contact. Projectable body to add strength. Speed and power are whats lacking currently. He doesn't offer much on the bases and drives ball into ground too much currently. Don't see him being a CF in future. If he can develop more loft to his swing though and get stronger think he could really jump up rankings. So far in July he's really gotten hot hitting .333, with a .793 OPS and only 4 ks in 67 PA's, hopefully he can finish out the year trending up like this!
  9. Just curious if you forgot Hendry Mendez or just aren't very high on him yet J
  10. Think Pence was more closer coming out due to his former swing which drew a lot of comparisons to Hunter. He has since revamped the swing a good amount. I personally envision Corey Hart. The power, speed, average, and D/arm out in right
  11. 1. Joey Weimer 2. Sal Frelick 3. Ethan Small 4. Brice Turang 5. Antonio Kelly 6. Garrett Mitchell 7. Jackson Chourio 8. Felix Valerio 9. Mario Feliciano 10. Tyler Black 11. Jeferson Quero 12. Eduardo Garcia 13. Hedbert Perez 14. Zavier Warren 15. Darrien Miller 16. Hendry Mendez 17. Carlos Rodriquez (Pitcher) 18. Micah Bello 19. Jon Gray Jr. 20. Israel Puello
  12. So yeah, Weimer with or without long flowing hair can smoke a baseball. He is good at this game of baseball
  13. Anyone else find it funny how much people are running with the 4 year 200 million contract still? Rodgers tweeted that was not true (he never addresses things usually on own). Also Pat McAfee has reported it is not true. His “source” that we all know is Rodgers told him that’d make no sense for him to make that deal to come back to make another run or two at Super Bowl. Because they wouldn’t be able to retain key players. This is really interesting. Ian is usually pretty good with reliable sources. However, clearly Pat has the best source. Also don’t think that source for how much he appreciates those guys would steer them wrong & publicly make them look bad. So curious what this extension will look like. If ARod was ever going to take a team friendly deal, it would be to help lock up Adams & get him the top dollar he deserves. People like to paint ARod in worst light as egotistical, selfish, etc but he does take care of his inner circle. Just want process to speed up & see how all this cap stuff & new contracts work out
  14. Yeah you can never put much value in anyone talking about teams reaching. National Scout Media and hobbyist have their rankings, film studies, stats to make rankings but they are working with a fraction of the amount of data as these NFL scouting departments. A teams board is much different than those websites we have access to. I don't think most even realize how little information most those site have compared to pro teams. From the meetings with players, their coaches, their medicals, schematic value. Learning key traits like Football IQ, motivations/passions, character/leadership, and their dedication to the craft which are all things scouting service do not have very much access to since they are not meeting these kids or doing all their background digging. Those qualities are are just as important to future success than production, athletic ability, and film study. Perfect example, almost every year after the draft I think, crap, the Vikings had a great draft! They drafted all these guys I liked and were high on draft service rankings. Every year, Vikings underachieve. I never complain about Packers reaching on a player. I trust that they know more than these scouting services and more times than not, they prove so.
  15. Saw it mentioned about Leo's strength. As a freshman at Wisconsin their was videos of him repping 225 over 40 times. I was hoping he'd bench at combine, maybe break some records!
  16. Packers have been pretty calm, collective, and confident about the cap all off-season. They have a plan and it will be very interesting to see how it plays out. Can't wait to see Rodgers hybrid contract details. You know it will be interesting when it is rumored to be a "team friendly" 4 year 200 million deal. If you can cut it from other spots, you can keep Adams on the tag but it will be very tough (going to have let others go that you wouldn't want to). It is a 20 million cap hit. He will not accept any deal that doesn't make him highest paid WR in the NFL so have to see how that all plays out.
  17. Jim Nagy tweet out that he has heard from scouts in the league that Love could net a 2nd round pick if Packers wanted to get draft capital for him. Teams are always desperate for QBs. Love may have not been able to show much the past two seasons but he does now have two years experience, had a 1st round grade coming out, and is roughly the same age than many of the "top QBs" coming out this season. Love is 23 (turns 24 in November). Looking at the other top guys: Kenny Pickett is 23 (turns 24 in June) 5 months older Matt Corral is 23 (24 in January) 2 months younger Malik Willis is 22 (turns 23 in May) 7 months younger Desmond Ridder 22 (turns 23 in August) about 9 months younger Carson Strong 22 (turns 23 in September) 10 months younger ------ Sam Howell 21 turns 22 in September So for a team who needs a QB, you are getting a guy roughly the same age, with more experience and NFL coaching, for roughly equal to or less cost of what you would be drafting. This is not a great QB class at all. I honestly don't know if any of these guys are actually 1st round talents. If you need a guy who can start this year, Love may give you a better chance with at least equal ceiling to most of these guys.
  18. Not a homer take but kind of a homer take. I honestly wouldn't mind Fergy at all. With way people are rating him, he could give great day 3 value. Early on at UW he was thought about as a possible first round talent (after redshirt soph year, early rankings going into rd junior season had him very high). QB issues really hurt him this year. Nagy raved about him during senior bowl week and then he had a very good game. He can run block and scouts rave about his hands (plus us Badger fans already know that). His combine will be very interesting. Overall I think the combine will be huge for this TE class because it is so tightly bunched and people are all over with the pecking order. Some need to separate themselves a bit. I also like Madbad really like McBride. If Big Dog Lewis is back again next season, it gives you time to develop his blocking more and let him do more of what he is best at. I want Tonyan back. Not sure what happened to his blocking this season but he has become a favorite of mine.
  19. I honestly feel for Rodgers it is extension or retire. Think you can structure the deal with voids and spread out so it gives relief. Listening to him talk, he doesn't sound like the same guy who a few years ago wanted to play into his 40s. He seems very at peace retiring, enjoying post football life, and trying to start a family. Due to that, think you have to be prepared that he could retire after 22', 23', 24...etc. Even with extension, retiring is now an every year situation going forward. That leads into Love. For him being traded. I put chances extremely small. Like slim to none. Makes zero sense really. A team will have to blow you away and really overpay. His agent can cry all he wants, they have zero leverage. He needs to perform in preseason and in those chances he gets in the season. To this point, he hasn't shown enough for a rational team to give up good capital for. Trading him just to trade him is awful management. At worst Packers have a cheaper 2nd string QB that you have spent 2 years developing and will be facing season after season possible retirement of franchise QB if ARod is back. You for sure keep him for year 3 then play it by ear for year 4. If Rodgers is back this year and after next year decides not to retire again + Love shows growth that he could be a legit starting QB...then situation gets interesting. Right now unless a team is pulling a Ron Wolf giving up a 1st for a big wildcard move (extremely doubtful) you just move forward preparing him. Love Z but right now as long as we have Gary and Preston...we are in good shape. We did it all season and D looked good for most of the season. Now that said, we are better with Z in mix but he has to be willing to restructure. His leverage for new deal (wanted one before season) is low due to missing pretty much a whole season and other teams may have concerns about his health moving forward the way it lingered this year plus his age. If he wants to get paid, restructure, maybe add a void after 22' making it a prove it season. Campbell and Douglas need to be brought back. Campbell was the difference this for our D this season. You replace him with any of the other MLBs we have had past decade, our D would of been hurting. His coverage, Sideline to sideline open field tackling, and overall playmaking was something we haven't seen out of that position. He was just a complete backer playing at elite level. Douglas just sures up our DBs. Him and Stokes being able to play at high level on outside gives D a lot of options of how to use Jaire!
  20. I can't really judge prospects too much until combine and the RAS scores are available but Gute and his team have types they key in on. As of now, I doubt Packers go WR in round 1. London is the main target I could see but he should be gone. He has the main qualities they like. Big, Length, great catch radius, best contested catcher in draft, and just a very good athlete. He played on the USC basketball team originally as well. I think high end, a lesser Mike Evans. Burks is another guy who has the the size they like and has gadget uses. A bigger AJ Brown is the biggest comparison on the field but athletically a more fluid DK Metcalf. He should dominate testing like DK. He is a freak specimen. Has work to do verse man and route running a bit. Played off line a lot and was moved around a lot to help get him free runs. So regardless of talent, will need work to be able to excel off the line verse pro corners on the outside. Williams would be a very interesting option. He is will miss probably most of rookie season with the ACL. If MVS is gone, he would fill that deep threat and stretch field guy that is needed. His speed is just blazing! He has solid size at 6'2 197 as well to match. Wilson to me is a Stefon Diggs. Both him and Olave don't have the typical size Packers look for. Rodgers is the exception to rule and they were looking for a gadget type slot. Both could be good WRs but just don't think they fit what Packers like as much. I could add guys like Dotson, Robinson, S. Moore, and Metchie to this as a guy I really like but doesn't fit Gute's mold. Guys I like: David Bell doesn't get much love because he doesn't have that standout trait but he does literally everything very well and with polish. He reminds me of a Robert Woods with that. A guy who doesn't jump off the page but is just a darn good WR. From routes, hands, contested catches, smarts, and ability to work with ball in hand. He has good size at 6'2 205ish. A guy who can probably earn trust from ARod (assuming he is back) or be reliable yearly on for Love. 2nd round maybe 3rd Christian Watson absolutely screams Packers. 6'4 210, will likely test well with high RAS, can stretch the field, solid route runner for his size, and aggressive blocker. Has had some drop issues but thats nothing new. 3rd-4th round George Pickens has the skill set to boom. I know there has been few off field things and then the ACL that took away most of 2021 but he can really play! Needs to work on getting off the line. Never produced at a high level in college despite all the talent so that is worrisome. 2-3 round For the Jordy crowd, Alec Pierce draws comparisons at 6'3 213. Deceptive speed (same as what was said about Jordy) that should be in the 4.4's. Pretty savvy guy who plays on the outside and very good going up for contested catches. Plus blocking reviews. Heard hands need to get a bit stronger. Apparently he is just an athletic freak who should shine at combine prob 3rd - 4th but combine can push him up to 2nd. Justyn Ross has the talent to be a late day 1 or early day 2 guy but he hasn't been able to stay healthy and is predicted to be lower when it comes to testing (Tee Higgins underachieved as well and who he is compared to a good amount). Plays faster than times but ran 4.89 coming out of high school and may only be low 4.6's. Depending on combine will shift him one way or the other. Sitting there in the late 3rd or 4th could be worth the pick. If you like shorter, slighter WRs with speed, this is a class you'd love. 2000s Packers to McCarthy style of west coast offense would have fit many of those guys great. All the quick slants and pops. I just know what Gute has said and the type of guys he has brought in so Any WR under 6'1 (prob 6'2) and over 200 I usually don't think much about beside if we need a gadget guy. I am sure they aren't willing to give up on Amari so I haven't look at too many of them.Sum up Gute's thoughts he's talked about. Length = more catch radius. Length and just high RAS just increases that more. More catch radius helps complete more passes. Also Packers are big in good WR blocking and the big/stronger they are, the better the blocking.
  21. Have to say 2020 draft looks pretty solid right now! Mitchell has kind of fallen off with all the missed time but look great prior! Zamora has just been raking for two months straight & has been very promising. Warren has been an OPS stud with solid average to match power & obp Wiemer has just been something else since his slow May start. Think he has surpassed Jon Gray Jr. for offensive player of year in system. Cantrelle who I really thought was going to breakout most is only one in the small class who hasn’t really popped or shined at all. This year kind of reminds me of old Brewers minor league system. Bats that are popping off & super fun to follow…. Only couple pitchers really doing anything to stand out.
  22. I like it Turang bump. Get his feet wet & join their playoff run this year. Get through adjust period over next month. Assuming he doesn’t make the 26 man out of ST next year, goal is he is ready to hit ground running as a kid repeating AAA. Think it better sets him up for success next year & to push for mid season MLB debut.
  23. Great to hear from you Colby! You know much or get to see much of Low, Vire, or Avina at all in prep careers?
  24. To me, I’m treating this trade like a wake & just here to give me condolences to Clancy…. I know how much Hummel meant to you. Lot of people were throwing around Escobar in off season and last year so kudos to them. He was an all star, has hit bunch of bombs, and fills a hole for us. I don’t think he is elite guy who can really blow top off on this offense but he is a higher level guy who if hot at right Tim can really help out. Overall, (sorry Clancy) we gave up peanuts for him so even if it doesn’t work out… nothing lose
  25. Most players face an adjustment period when moved up. Not an ounce worried.
