  1. Ortega has a big league future, I believe that. He throws low 90's with pinpoint command. He will be a Estrada type, career #5 type starter who will either be on and give u a great 7-9ip or get shelled in 4. He will give up a bunch of HRs as he advances on days he isn't hitting his spots. The fact he pitches 100% to contact with no K ability as of yet though is my 1 concern He is interesting though Unheralded 3rd wheel to Rizzo & Gomez in DSL 4 two years. Now they think enough of him to skip over Wisconsin. Rizzo has been ehh in Wisconsin and Gomez had to be demoted to Helena. Interesting how that has worked out. Still young, plenty of time to improve secondary stuff to get some ks in future
  2. Yikes, hopefully Arcia doesn't act like that on a Lawrie frequency.... First time I have heard of him pulling that kind of stuff though, he's young and it was a great move to pull him....teaching moments
  3. Can you please stop posting your opinions as fact? It is annoying. Carry on. Someone is sensitive about Arcia making it this year... Don't worry, by next season some time you can bust out your Arcia jersey... Who cares how he says it, you can call out 90% of the people who post on here for doing the same thing at some point or another... This is a fan forum, it should be assumed that most posters will be stating their opinions. So THAT is annoying and so is not contributing anything even remotely meaningful to the discussion.... So yes carry on. I think it is a mistake to rush him up. He will be 21 to start next season, why start eating up all his service before he is even close to his potential. Look how much he has grown each season! Continue to develop him, if by next June-July he is tearing cover off ball and banging hard on the door then fine but don't just call him up to call him up. Be smart about him.
  4. Talk about a rapid rise! All before he is even 21! Hopefully they don't foolishly rush him. Let him start in AAA next year with that core and then when time is right, bring him up next June or July if you need him
  5. I don't follow this logic. Are we now basing trades on whether a guy is hot? Should expect the moon for Hernan Perez and Taylor Jungmann now? I would think GMs understand that a recent hot or cold streak has little effect on a guy's ultimate value. I would gladly take a B-level prospect (i.e., Coulter, Taylor) for either one of these guys now. They are not part of the future, their value is arguably at the highest, and we have other guys in the system that we could be taking a look at who play those positions. Sure those guys might not be future starters but they could be serviceable platoon or bench players. I could understand the argument for maybe keeping Lind since he has another year on his contract but I don't see his value getting any higher. And your quote on "controllable major league talent in return" is exactly why we have gotten to where we are now. Why do we constantly need to limit ourselves on a potential return. The ultimate goal should be to get the best talent back. I don't care what level that player is at, as great players will always be useful. Where are we now? Brewers are the hottest team in baseball right now with pieces other teams want. Brewers have prospects on the cusp of the major leagues, including at least one in Arcia with a very high ceiling and they also likely will have a pick in next year's draft in the top dozen. Lara too has to be considered an A list prospect even though he's in rookie ball. Controllable major league talent is major league talent nonetheless. Brewers are charging fans major league prices are they not? B level prospects are hit and miss with ceilings of average to below average regular major leaguers if in fact they ever stick in the majors. I'm skeptical of the attitude of "take whatever you can get" from a team. Maybe you can get a Dan Vogelbach from the Cubs for Parra. Vogelbach is probably a B+ or maybe an A- prospect and he's blocked there by Rizzo but I doubt the Cubs have offered him yet. Coming out and saying you will do whatever you must to trade an asset makes no sense to me. You need to drive the best bargain you can an if teams don't meet it, then have a plan B. PS. Coulter and Taylor are in Brewers top 5 prospect list. That makes them A level prospects by most measures. Brewers are not likely to get anyone's top 5 prospect using Parra or Lind alone. Combined? Maybe. Taylor and Coulter are NOT A level prospects.... Because our farm system is down and they are in top 5 doesn't make them A level. A level is consider to be future all-star type talent... Coulter is more fringe A if he can become more consistent at plate. Taylor is more of a solid everyday player (B level). C level is a Jason Rogers who is more of a platoon/bench prospect
  6. 2 things 1) I was really disappointed when they tweeted me back about the injury, was really looking forward to him play this season.... We need some true catching prospects. 2) Brewers Player Development is absolutely excellent! If you don't follow them on twitter I suggest you do.... They almost always tweet me back in a timely matter when I have questions about injuries and so forth.
  7. think the real question is who would you rather have....Miguel Cabrera or Gilbert Lara? He is 2nd youngest player in all of the Arizona League and arguably the best player in league.
  8. So not sure if anone has looked at the Box Score through 7 so far for Arizona! My lord! banged out 20 hits for 16 runs so far! Segovia 2-3 2BB, 2R Clark 1-3 2BB, 4 R Lara 4-5 2B, 3B, 4 RBI, 3 R Perry 3-3 1BB 2B HR 5 RBI, 2 R Orimoloye 3-5 1 RBI, 1 R Martinez 2-5 2 RBI, 1 R Quiterio 2-4 2 RBI, 1 R Nash Walters 4IP 2H 0ER 3BB 5K Now onto the 8th!!!
  9. I think he is playing like an all-star, his average needs to keep climbing. Really he had to overcome the bad habits to start the season and then thumb started to bug him a little bit (had to get it redone quick) outside of those two, he has been great. Lind has had a very impressive season as well but doubt he will make it
  10. Soooo Gatewood in usual fashion is 1 for 2 with a double and a strikeout..... Can anyone just teach him to make consistent contact! If he has just an impact bat if it found the ball a little more often!
  11. Lohse or Garza gone by then, open spot waiting for Wily!
  12. We look at our roster we have 4 guys who all possess skills to score around 20 points a game in Parker, Giannis, Middleton, and Monroe. If Giannis can continue to develop a his shooting he is a weapon that could be the top guy (his issue right now is he can't shot so ppl can just play off him....if they can't do that anymore.... He will take over. We got some shooters on bench as well. MCW doesn't need to do much. Really he had less than half a season with a real coach to work with him. Gotta believe Kidd has ability to bring out and get out the most in MCW
  13. The MCW trade stuff drives me nuts. He is entering his third yeR, really turned it on toward the end of the season, and him not being able to shot means nothing! He can pass with the best of them, play defensive with the best of them, and attack rim with the best of them. Kidd needs to continue to improve his turnovers but he has what we need him to do! Along with crazy size/length combo for a PG. Last year he was forced to shot for 76ers and Bucks.... No one else to do it....Ersan, Middleton, Mayo....sometimes Dudley or Bayless may offer something. Middleton was only consistent shooter. Giannis couldn't shot to save his life, Parker was out, no bigs could score down low. He had pressure on him, this year he won't. Parker, Middleton, Monroe are scoring threats, a Giannis if improves his shooting could be biggest weapon.
  14. With Lara I most definitely see him in Wisconsin. He will join that wave. Question is who moves to 3B him or Gatewood?
  15. I forsee Kirby moving pretty quick as well. Wouldn't be shocked to see them both at BC next season like Bradley & Jungmann
  16. One of Lohse or Garza needs to be gone by time Wily is back. Jungmann has been the best and most consistent pitcher, then Fiers, Wily and Jimmy are locked in.
  17. Don't forget Inglis off bench as well. He's only 19 and doubt they give up on him already.
  18. Techniqually Ray is from outside or organization, many teams have interested in him to be GM. Doug brought him back knowing that and with this plan. Question is, how much say does Ray have in these up coming moves since it will be his team?
  19. Ray was interviewing for GM jobs, has had a long history in Milwaukee, is considered a rising star amongst the MLB, and must have been offered this possibility to get him back here. Him and Craig are/were Doug's special assistants
  20. With how talented this years international class is, hard to understand why they are backing off. They had Pierre/Mallen then Lara, now maybe sign a guy for 500k? Make a splash
  21. Usually when national services look at top prospect, ceiling out weighs production. So for them, they would rank our system by which prospect has the highest ceilings. Therefore, your Cravy, Hall, and Wagners rank lower. In my eyes off the top a national service will be on 1. Meredois 2. D. Williams 3. N. Kirby (once signs) 4. Diplan Lopez is still young and his body is still filling out and adding power. That's exciting as he was one of the most projectible pitchers in his draft class. I think he would be slotted probably 5th right now if you are counting Kirby. Taylor Williams in the mix. Ortega is do interesting.... He was the 3rd wheel to Rizzo & Gomez in DSL for those years and now he is shotting up! He doesn't strikeout anyone at all but man he can flat out pitch and hit his spots. He just refuses to walk anyone. Pitches to contact & keeps his pitch count low to go deep into starts. Moreover, I'd be 100% opposed to signing Zimmerman. Are we going for it again next year and having another high payroll? We have young pitchers for cheap, give them their shots next year and take bumps. We need to stop overpaying for pitchers in FA and through trades. To me a waste of money to sign a guy if your not looking at contending NOW. You don't sign with hopes of 2-4 years from now contending
  22. *Waves hand slowly in front of face* This isn't the thread you are looking for.... Oops! Lol just noticed that! Ha Middleton and Vasquez now eat up 20 million in salary.... Monroe is a tad not tougher to squeeze in with a Max contract. Money is on Chandler being a Buck.
