  1. Ditto for Mike Jones who at 20 was one of the most dominant pitchers in AA before his arm just have up on him...
  2. Michael Reed has the making to be a Michael Brantley. Forced to the Corner due to being with better defensive CF. Big on base guy. Not as much power as ur hoping 4 (yet) Will walk, steal, play great defense (Reed has been gunning ppl out on bases), and everything else you need. Isn't this what the Brewers need? Not a HR beast but just a guy who hits, gets on base, makes things happen, and plays good D? Every one wants to talk about how AA is the hardest level and give all this well deserved hype to Arcia but Reed will be 22 all season and has been nearly as impressive as Arcia. Guy is a player. Honestly, he is a top 10 prospect for sure for us and could be Top 5 soon enough if he can use that lower body more to generate some extra power Yadiel Rivera is 23 in AAA and has really started to become the player we hoped for. Most important is he has gotten better every year! He hasn't had those power surges he would have when he was in Helena and Wisconsin but I do believe has ability to hit for power. Big thing for him is while his power may not be as good as it once appeared it could be, a lot of that is because he has dropped the all or nothing approach and shortened his swing to increase contact and be a true hitter. Call me crazy but at 23, 6'3 180, and known to have some Power projection.... I have not given up the thought that he could play 3B at the next level. Give you some great D with 10-15 HRs a season. Maybe get up to 18-22 Hrs in his prime 27-29 seasons... He should be a top 15 prospect for us IMO Chris McFarland No one ever loves on Chris....why? Not sure. He was thought to be a 2-5rd pick outta HS but a strong commitment to Rice dropped him way done to us. He impressed and was push up straight to Wisconsin 4 his first full season. He struggled a bit but held his own. Think most soured on him after that. Since then he has been the Robin to Clint's Batman in that wave. He plays solid defense, is solid on offense, and really he may not appear to be plus at anything, he is just a good all around player at everything. Quietly he leads FSL in hits.... And that was with a huge slump that dropped average over .100 points in mid-late May. I think he for sure is a top 15-20 guy. He is our #1 true 2b prospect.
  3. 2B Segura SS Arcia 3B Sardinas (Sardinas and Segura could switch) Utility Bill Hall Role: Yadiel Rivera There is a defensive infield! All those guys are capable .300 plus hitters as well
  4. Mark A would never do this. This isn't nfl or NBA where your draft picks have much instant value. What's the point? Hey we drafted a former #1 pick that u may be able to see in 4-5 years. Currently, he has a dead arm and prob won't pitch in next year but HEY! I made this pick for us to prove we are committed to our future..... Melvin doesn't even really say much. It's Rays show 100% He didn't pass up GM interview and other top positions to have an owner or GM make uneducated decisions for him. Not to mention he is special assistant to Doug and prob Doug's replacement when he moves up to just president of ops. All that said I'd love to take Aiken if it appears his arm will ever recover to where it once was. He is #1 overall talent and a lefty.point is Mark A isn't going to do anything and there is not too much of a splash unless u go all in like last year.
  5. If you notice in article, 2017 #1 is JJ Schwartz much like former top draft prospect Carlos Rodon, He was a Brewer draft pick in the late teens out of HS. I know nearly impossible signs but ugh sad to see
  6. Orlando didn't take too kindly to talk about lack of power.... Smacked another double and HR today.... Kid is good, really good! I think outside of being outstanding defenders ( there was some article early in season discussing how Orlando is arguably one of top defensive SS in Milb and it was his offense that has held him back not to forgot the Brewers front office as early as last season saying he is mlb ready defensively) they are very different prospects. They have very different body types and offensive skill sets. Sardinas is the much better comp to Escobar. Love the helium he is on this season!
  7. I'd agree with that however now it seems to be getting better with Wisconsin and Biloxi. BC is so so. Nashville would have been great if they didn't turn back on us. High Desert wasn't a good place, for a pitching prospect even worse
  8. I think he'll be fine again soon. McFarland hit the same type of slump earlier. It's baseball and sometimes guys just lose it for a little bit. Sometimes bad luck where your hitting the ball hard but nothing is falling, sometimes you just aren't seeing the ball as well, usually, due to a combination of both you press and start attacking pitches you shouldn't. He has been a high walk guy this season so for him not to be walking at all means that he is doing just that, pressing a bit. The more you struggle the faster you sink.
  9. Rivera got the promotion as he should, he proved himself last year and this year. No rush with Arcia. Left him keep hitting and developing. If he is hitting .390+ at all-star break then okay. With how outstanding Rivera and Arcia have been, having Segura, starting to no really like the Gallardo trade for Sardinas. What his his future role? Throw in Hector as well, he are looking good up middle
  10. Here's a trend to discuss Brewers minor league pitching and look at some advance stats. I focused on Biloxi's Big 4 tonight then give a look a Kodi and rising prospect Cy Sneed. I use minorleaguecentral.com for my stats. They are slightly different than fangraphs traditionally Biloxi Rotation Brooks Hall 7G--37IP –7.30 K/9 – 3.33 K/BB – 20.3K%-- .216BA 2.19ERA – 2.66FIP—3.70 SIERA .267 /.326 /.593 Slash 43GB% - 13%LD –8.3% IFB 14.2%KS—5.4%KL – 17.6 wiffs/swing Tyler Wagner 7G--42IP --6.86 K/9—2.67 K/BB – 19.5K%-- .219BA – 1.93ERA—2.91FIP—3.31 SIERA .298/.287/.569 Slash 62%GB—13% LD—2.5% IFB 18.3%KS—1.2%KL/ 26.5% wiffs/swing Guys are missing ball a lot swinging but not really translating into K's, when they do make contact, it goes right to one of the great defenders in the IF. 11. He has a great eye at the plate, hits for good average, he threw out two more runners today at home (I think his defense is a little underrated) He is not a great CF but has ability to go out there and play it if needed. His base running and stealing has improved a lot. I still just cant believe he is topped out of power yet at 21. He is a strong kid. Not sure if he just doesn't use his lower body enough or doesn't get much lift in his swing but I think the power potential is the to be a 15 HR guy. I agree he is more likely a 4th OF in the future and while his defense isn't as good, he couple be a 4th OF like Parra who offers higher OBP and average.
  12. You create a draft board of every player you have seen play. Then you sit down with all your scouts and cross checkers and create a list from 1 to however many u think ud like to draft. The order simply goes on who you feel has the most talent to become a star. Position doesn't matter, age doesn't matter, ability to move quick, and etc. That's what Javk Z did so well and where Seid struggled. A lot of Z's guys like Braun, Prince, Rogers, LaPorta, and such were considered reaches a little bit. All his guys, college or high school had extreme ceilings in some aspects of their game. Weeks, Braun, Lawrie were electric all around bats. LaPorta just had pure power. Prince had unbelievable power potential. Rogers had a high ceiling with huge arm that his bad mechanics killed. Jeffress had boom type electric stuff. Mike Jones was well on his way to possibly being an Ace when he was carving through AA hitters at 20 until his arm as well fell off. Add Gallardo and Odorizzis upside. Overall, he just took guys who he felt offered boom or bust potential with at least 1 major tool that stood above the rest. Seid seemed to often play it safer. Looked too much at floor and how advanced they were. He stick pulled our system of older, high floor, limited potential prospects to much.
  13. Cory Hart also had High Desert helping in A+ but what Cory did at AA was pretty impressive and got him league MVP
  14. Hall has been outstanding so far, I was talking him up in spring training because he was dominating each outing. Best part is all these guys are doing this in a pretty neutral league. It's not like they are in a pitchers league like Florida, not to mention they have still never even had a home game yet this season. Jorge had a couple rough 1s to start the year but has been stellar as of late. It is important to remember his home situation with his son. That's is a tough distraction he face every time out. His son has had a tough life so far and been in and out of hospital in and out of bad/serious condition. Really pulling for him, his body has filled out, arm strength has gotten to where we hoped it would, and he has really grown as a pitcher....long way from being sent down to the DSL a few years ago
  15. Agree. Forgotten fact in this is look where he is doing his damage! BC is pretty anti hitter park and he is hitting .333 at home with a mere .733 slugging % that takes some true power! He isn't doing this in high dessert or Colorado Springs. He is only 3-18 vs lefties with 2 hrs and a double I believe to go with like 8 walks. So yeah I'd like to see him hit a little better vs them but I agree his floor is Davis his Ceiling through is solid .260-280 hitter I believe who can crank out 30+ hrs with 80-100 RBIs Corey hart is a very fair ceiling IMO. Borderline all-star core of the team type guy
  16. I think it is very unfair for them to write him off so much as a prospect. He has made great strides with his approach at the plate and not to mention how much more time he has to work on his offensive game now he is no behind the plate. He has hit 4 good average, great power, and takes walks. He is only 21 and that includes his lost season 2 years ago where he just never was healthy, was overmatched at A and wasn't on field enough to find a grove. He isn't even in AA yet and he has made strides every season
  17. Maybe someone one more realistic than Moncada. Unless are paying the Red Sox back the amount of tax money they had to money up to get him. They didn't invest that much in a player just to flip him. Not to mention they have the top catching prospect in baseball who is about to get called up I believe. Doubt they pull the plug on him and go get Lucroy. I just don't see Boston making that move.
  18. Depressing looks like Brewers are not in any type of position to land a top 30 international prospects http://m.mlb.com/prospects/2015?list=int Cubs are favorite for I believe 5 of them.....
  19. With this whole Brewers are not willing to trade Lucroy talk, his asking price is really soaring and upping the price. The more untouchable you make him, the higher the return. Team will have to offer something that is impossible to turn down. Correa is absolutely untouchable. That is like saying we would have sold off Prince or Braun right before they were set to be our future and lead us back to contention. Astros have huge plans for him and he will be face of their franchise. They won't sell him off for a run this year, they are thinking future still. Astros are not the Dodgers who can afford to give away a top prospect like Seager.
  20. Really 2 things IMO 1) to push them and test them and see how they do. Instead of babying them, you push them see if they are ready or not. It's much better competition. 2) like you said, it gets them playing meaningful baseball right away. That's prob 150-200 meaningful PAs prior to the start of the Helena season.
  21. Yeah it is the same with Clint Coulter and Mcfarland two years ago and then Denson last year. I like the Brewers aggressive approach because you never really know until you push them where they are. It worked for the likes of Scooter, Arcia and Taylor because they were just ready, they didn't have many adjustments to make because they all were more pure/ or pro hitters. They see ball well and know what to do. Sometimes guys need to refine those skills a little more before they are ready. My hope is they turn it around and continue to improve where they are not sent back down come June. I think it depends on where their confidence level is. Coulter was beat up, his confidence was down, and he simply needed to head back down to Helena. Mcfarland stuck it out the whole season, was repeated and was very impressive last season. Maybe they turn it around and figure it where they will be back on track to start in BC next year.
  22. Wow welcome back Tucker Neuhaus!! Minster game! Man I'd love to see him start to take that next step
  23. They do have arms to trade and unload. I think if they stay in contention and Gomez is back he will net a top pitching prospect. Gomez's stock will never be higher than at the break if he is playing like himself. His cheap contract for 1 1/2 years is pretty great leverage. I'd love to see it centered around Syndergaard. Matz would work and is more realistic, lord knows we could use a lefty... If we plan on trading Lucroy, I'd try to pry away Plawecki as well. Then get a high upside, boom or bust, young arm as we did with Diplan I personally think a Gomez and PTBNL (one of our quality AA/AAA pitchers such as Tyler Wagner) for Syndergaard, Plawecki, Molina, with Beccara or Meisner as PTBNL Get a frontline guy, Lucroy's replacement for 2016, a talented young arm in Molina. For the last throw in I was between 2 options, Then I think Beccura is a young late blooming Gomez who has all the talent in the world but hasn't figured it out. Meisner has a looong body and ability to become a very good pitcher in future. We need arm talents bad. Maybe I am over valuing Gomez a little bit but if he is in All-Star form, we have leverage, teams will have to pay high. Seager can be had at the right price but I doubt that is Lucroy. They will most likely look for an Ace at the break from him if he is going anywhere.
  24. Dodgers have a lot of young talent under 20 to look at. 1.LHP Urias 18 2. SS Seager 20 3. RHP Holmes 18 4. OF Verdugo 18 5. C J. Leon 19 6. RHP Z. Bird 20 7. 1B C. Bellinger 19 Some nice chip to add. In any deal they will probably grab Lee, Reed or one of the other higher arms.
  25. Peralta ceiling is most likely an inning eating #3 with a power arm. Seager is arguably one of the top position prospects in all of baseball. As a Brewer fan, would you have been happy to trade Braun or Prince for a #3 pitcher? I like Wily but like most others have said, he is not that valuable. Dodgers need a pitcher now with McCarthy down but they will not be trading a future All-Star in their minds for him. Heres a recent brief article about Dodgers feelings towards trading 1 of their big 2 http://www.truebluela.com/2015/4/28/8508551/corey-seager-julio-urias-dodgers-trade-rumors It seems as through they are more likely to uncork one of these two guys for an Ace pitcher. Not sure if Lucroy will tempt them enough despite MVP level play last year and amazing deal to work with. Realistically we aren't getting Urias, he is absolutely unreal. He is a special, special, special arm. As good as Lucroy and Gomez are, not sure either a big enough to land him. Seager is a little more realistic. I can see him as our center piece to a Lucroy deal. Through in Garza or Lohse to sweeten the pot and target. Here is a look at their systen http://www.minorleagueball.com/2015/3/9/8176769/los-angeles-dodgers-top-20-prospects-for-2015 Ton of talent to give away
