  1. How about winning one game in a four game series with the Cardinals with no regulars getting injured? Why isn’t that possible? Seems like they are going to be facing more risk of injuries if they go on the road next week still needing a win or two to clinch the division. Dude. It's a hypothetical. It's always a fine balance between getting guys game action and keeping everyone healthy. All I am saying is I'd rather stay healthy than win individual games. The individual results are far less important than being healthy for the postseason. That may change next week, but it's true right now and will be at least through Sunday.

  3. Go back and look at the box scores for those games played in April. The lineups for both teams are very different than the ones playing now, so those games have zero relevance or predictive value for the postseason. My point exactly. The Cardinals leading the season series 8-7 just doesn't feel meaningful to me.
  4. My own gauge for nervousness: if the choices were a) have already clinched but had a regular injured or b) get swept by the Cardinals but guarantee health, what would you pick? I know my choice.
  5. We are 3-1 against the Dodgers. In no way do I think we're the better roster.
  6. Oh, I want no part of the Cardinals. Losing to the Giants is way preferable to losing to the Cards, and I don't much like either of those teams. Still, that is a totally emotional response. I don't think this series is all that predictive. Cards won two close games and are now up 6-0 in a game where we started a guy who won't sniff the postseason. And we haven't thrown Hader or Williams. I don't like it. I don't want the Cards. But this is an 8-7 season series if the score holds tonight. That doesn't feel very predictive to me.
  7. Also, Burnes will go Friday and then Thursday if needed against the Cards. So, we're about to go Houser, Burnes, Lauer, Peralta, Woodruff, Houser/Ashby/pen, Burned.
  8. It's SO hard to have an easy clinch in baseball. You are nearly always into the last week no matter what. We will sweat if we don't clinch at home, but the reason the Brewers are 99 percent to win the division is because a 4-game sweep by the 2nd place STILL renders awfully narrow math.
  9. Honestly would have been fine if Anderson had gone 3 innings and given up 4 or 5. This is something else, though. To have such low expectations and still be disappointed. Still think the offense has something in them. Brewers win 9-7
  10. Anderson is really pathetic. Escobar not helping, of course. I am not worried at all, but this is just bad baseball dampening what should have been a celebratory week. Still time to turn it around, I guess. Also, Cain is great.
  11. Well, they hit it hard at least.... Gotta figure the luck part will turn sooner or later...just hope they can actually string together good ABs to make sure.
  12. My take on the Brewers postseason chances is pretty simple: The pitching is going to have be great to win games. It very well could be.
  13. That was a weak offensive effort. You have to have baserunner against Lester. Make him think about the running game at least. 3 hits...not gonna cut it. Cardinals and good and came to play. They are rolling through a hard schedule. Credit to them. Reset button for the Brewers. Reality is, one win turns this whole thing around, and we're all back to anticipating champagne. Go get it tomorrow. I think the Brewers clinch on Thursday.
  14. A bunt wouldn’t have been the worst idea in that situation. His odds of getting a hit off the LHP in that situation were so low it would’ve been worth a shot. Good point. He can run well enough he should've started bunting a long time ago.
  15. I might have even cut JBJ some slack if he'd hit that hard, but an oppo dribbler on that pitch about sums up the guy's year. I feel bad for him. Something just never clicked. He needs a total mental reset.
  16. I didn't expect to be reminding myself how little this game matters, but here we are. The Cardinals will do that to you. Still time for a Vogelbach, but let's just hit the rest of this series. I know we've got Woodruff, Anderson, and Houser, which isn't the best, but we should be able to get to Woodford and Mikolas. And we've seen Wainwright enough too.
  17. I mean...that was 90 mph. Dead middle. I am slowly coming aboard the JBJ no playoffs train. If Cain gets hurt, fine. He can be added, right? Otherwise, roll with Taylor.
  18. That run was big for the Cards given they've used their good bullpen the last two nights.
