  1. Yup. Mourn each loss but never forget the great run this team is having! You can feel two things at once. I think I feel about 30 right now. Go Crew!
  2. Always beware the guy who makes a great defensive play and then leads off the next inning.
  3. Again, I just can't get behind the idea that we "gave away" Game 2. This is the playoffs. It's a totally different brand of baseball. You're getting the best hitters at their most focused, and every out is that much harder to get. It's good to be up 3 runs in the 7th. But nine outs is a lot to get, and good teams win postseason games after trailing late all the time. I was very nervous in the 9th inning of Game 3 of the NLDS, despite a 6-0 lead, because things can turn really quickly. Just off the top of my head, the Cubs did the same thing very late against the Giants in 2016, and the Royals did it to the A's in 2014. And in those cases, compared to Game 2 yesterday, the trailing team was either down by more (Royals) or had a lot fewer outs to work with (Cubs). I get it. Emotional investment makes everything feel so different for fans. We will think it's over down 1-0 in the 8th but be terrified of losing it up 5-1 in the 9th. For me personally, I am just trying to treat every inning as 0-0 because that seems much closer to how the postseason operates. Wins are not wins until the last out is recorded. Thinking any other way just feels like a recipe for a roller coaster of expectation, and the games are nerve-wracking enough. Having to map them on to a win probability chart is too much for me.
  4. I think one game at a time applies way more in the postseason. I know we have all these odds and projections, but I feel like nearly every game comes down to a few bounces or key hits. I don't think you can think like we have to get Game 3 or we have to take 2 in LA and stay sane. The simple fact of playoff baseball is you are not out until you are out. Good teams trail in series a lot and go on to win. Look at last year's ALCS. Look at the Cubs. I would feel better up 2-0, but my frustration is more about not winning (losing is never fun) than series positioning. Even up 2-0 Game 3 would scare me. In fact, it might scare me more because I would feel like we have more to lose. One game at a time. Go Brewers!
  5. In a weird way, I expect this team to play better on the road. Those MP crowds justt look tense on TV. I wasn't there, but it felt like Turner's homer just killed everything. Almost like the crowd had been waiting for it. I sort of feel like I've been waiting for the loss to come, so maybe going on the road flips the pressure a bit. Maybe we even douse another road clubhouse in champagne.
  6. Honestly, I feel okay with a split. It is going to take more than three runs to beat that Dodger lineup most nights, late lead or no. The difference in the game is a Chris Taylor broken bat slow roller. Not really much you can do. You got your best pitcher going Monday with a rested pen behind him. It's a five game series now. Start another streak Monday! This team has won so many close ones in the last month, they were going to drop one at some point. I think they respond well.
  7. What a ride last night. To be guaranteed a split feels great, but I think the offense might have to win this one with the heavy pen usage last night. I think we are in pretty decent shape out there, but one of the less trusted guys is going to have to get outs, so we will see. The Dodger pen pitched a bunch last night too, so I think thag neutralizes some of this talk about us being too aggressive last night.
  8. That is a good point about Peralta and fastballs. I will add, though, that the Dodgers are also one of the more disciplined, patient lineuos out there. For a guy who struggles with control like Freddy, that scares me. Hopefully Miley can muster a clean 3 tonight. I think between Guerra, Burnes, and Freddy, we will have guys who can cover innings in the absence of Hader. Knebel, JJ, and Soria didn't throw a ton of pitches either, so they should be okay.
  9. I don't like Buck, but I am okay as long as it's not Pierzynski. Go get 'em, Gio! Let's Goooooooooo Crew!
  10. Well, I guess, as they say in Major League, there's only one thing left to do now... ...win the whole...thing.
  11. I mean, I will be thrilled to be in the WS. I would rather face Boston, though. Other than Sale, I am not all that scared of the Red Sox SP, and the Yankee bullpen is a nightmare matchup for anyone.
  12. I think 60/40 is about right betting odds wise. The Dodgers lineup is just scary good, and so is that pitching staff. That said, we played them tough throughout the regular season, and at times they've slumped and scuffled and played well below expectations. I think the series comes down to bullpens. How many innings can ours throw? How many innings can we make theirs throw? The Braves really only got one big hit in 4 games; it just happened to be worth four runs (I know Freeman added a homer, and they got a clutch single from Suzuki today, but you get the idea). Today, they loaded the bases with one out and couldn't score up 2-1 in the 5th. We have to do better than that. Honestly, the way this team is playing, I don't fear anyone. The Dodgers are the most talented team in the NL, but we've played better than them over 166 games. I think this goes 6 or 7 and the baseball gods decide it (I guess that means I'd take us as a value bet--even if LA is a logical favorite, I think the totality of factors makes it much closer to a coin flip). I hope it's our turn, but either way, I think we're in for quite a ride. Enjoy it!
  13. Bring on the Dodgers. We will be underdogs and will have to hit great pitching. Let's do it!
  14. If LA wins, it will be real nice not to have to worry about weather. West coast start times, on the othe hand (though I imagine they'll try to start around 7 or 730 CT no matter what)...
  15. Yeah, I think my big question is whether we add a pitcher and drop Keon. A 7 game series with potentially 3 in a row moght make a 12th arm necessary. In that case, Keon is probably the odd man out.
  16. Number 2 is so well said. Great post.
  17. The line about "having watched" feels right. These things becone more fun for me in retrospect, but my wife told me yesterday that it actually looks like I am enjoying these games. I have sure been trying. We just don't get this very often, so I feel like we have to celebrate it as it's happening! At the very least, I was more stressed during 163 because of all the things others mentioned. Ueck's "and they are the champions" is something I will remember for a long time...
  18. BA doing the Yanks/Red Sox. I missed him these last two nights, but it is clear he's a national A-lister. Good to see!
  19. Bump...because remembering this makes the off day twice as nice.
  20. Have we lost 3 in a row at any time this season? Yes. At least once right before the AS break.
  21. Welcome to the OR, where you will be sliced and diced!
  22. Anyone else surprised the Rockies are throwing Marquez instead of Freeland on regular rest for Game 3? I know both are good, but your best guy is available in an elimination game. Seems a little odd not to throw him. Maybe the Rox just feel like Marquez is almost as good, and they want to save Freeland, but pitching him Sunday also allows him to come out of the pen in Game 5...I would be surprised if both starters remain the same between now and 330 Sunday.
