  1. Cutch a bit too aggressive there, but signs of life.
  2. Let us also recall that the wind is blowing out to left, and there are 6 innings to go.
  3. On the bright side, Levering does a nice job on the TV side, I think. Rock is Rock, but in voice, temperament, and analytic sense, the Brewers booth on the whole is quite pleasant background sound.
  4. Cubs are having very good ABs, taking close pitches, laying off high fastballs. Very disciplined series from them so far, so credit where due. Brewers have not played well in any facet of the game either. I am more disappointed in that than in the prospect of an 0-3 start. This series has already featured a lot of the things that have challenged my love of the game over the past few years, namely a lack of balls in play and the Brewers' inability to produce runs without dingers. Long way to go today, and I still think this is going to be a fun season, but early losses do start to claw back spring excitement, and admitting it doesn't mean anyone's ready to give up or even all that pessimistic about this team's prospects.
  5. Bad day. Nowhere near panic time. This team will be at least 3-3 heading home next week, I feel it. Even if they're 1-5, whatever. I know "every game counts the same," but, well, you don't have to be great in April and May. You just have to be good enough. This team will be.
  6. I would be shocked if this game gets played. But the chance of precip hovers around 50-60% for most of the window, so you never know I guess. Given the myriad opportunities to make this one up, the better outlook for Sat/Sun, I just don't see a reason to make guys play in cold, wet, even snowy, windy conditions. Plus, Cubs had to use better bullpen arms yesterday, so, knowing them, they'll want to give those guys another day ?.
  7. Not a bad day overall. Pitching couldn't get key outs. Cain just missed one. Glad baseball is back! Get 'em tomorrow!
  8. Well, base open for the 8 hitter. Welcome to the DH, Brewers!
  9. Yuck. Burnes non-competitive on that 3-2.
  10. Not sure if Yelich got a bad read on that or what. It definitely wasn't hit hard and looked ugly, but also like it maybe had some tail to it? I don't know--it looked awkward from Yeli but also like a little bit of a tough catch?
  11. If only Cain could've waited back on that just a touch. Looked right there.
  12. I see the "routine fly ball woo birds" are out in full force today. Burnes fought is a bit there, but no harm. Nice tag from Adames.
  13. Suter off Kluber. Also, Sabathia was amazing. Sabathia=legend. Also, didn't Glendon Rusch once bunt to the outfield for a walk-off hit?
  14. And Canada end up in Pot 4 as the clear class of CONCACAF. I seem to remember the US missing out on a top seed in a previous year (14, maybe?), so I'll take the upper half position this time. I look forward to seeing the US and Ghana in the same group again ?. I do think we'll end up with a decent draw for some reason. Here's hoping.
  15. Draw Friday. Will be interesting to see what the groups look like. Big for the US to get pot 2, as that'll keep them away from Germany and the Netherlands. This USMNT is still all potential. I hope it gets fulfilled as we get into November. The team can make a run, that's for sure.
  16. African qualifiers today we're wild. Cameroon scored with the final kick to advance on away goals. Senegal beat Egypt in a controversial penalty shootout with laser pointers all over the place....soccer is a crazy game, unrivaled for emotion, shenanigans, and excitement.
  17. What a half from the US. Could be the best I've ever seen (maybe save for the second half of the 2010 WC vs. Slovenia--with VAR, that would've been a 3-2 win instead of a 2-2 draw). We won't get that Q in the official standings, but anything but a 5 goal loss (6 if they can grab one more) in San Jose clinches it.
  18. Yup. Need to get clear of Panama and CR. Getting to 25 points almost guarantees that. Win and in on Sunday, unless Costa Rica wins by more and then beats the US by like 4 goals.
  19. Totally get if the chat is not feasible. Mostly just saying I remember that function. I seem to remember it being part of that 2011 run? It was indeed very fun.
  20. Saturday's two games look great. Houston-Villanova is really fascinating. If Jay Wright can win a third title, he's gotta be right behind K and Wooden as the best coach in the game. Tonight's slate is less compelling than last night's, I think, but I'm really looking forward to Kansas-Providence. Would love to see St. Peter's hang with Purdue. They should have good fan support in Philly.
  21. Draw, okay. But man. That game was right there. Cue the defiant, gloating Triple G presser while we shake our heads at the unwillingness to press and really showcase the most talented generation of players in US history.
  22. Uninspiring is such a perfect word for Triple G. Couldn't agree more on your analysis, Julio. I love Marsch. Hope it's his job someday.
  23. Yeah, I think Mexico is just as much of a mess, honestly. I have zero faith in Berhalter, but Pulisic seems ready for a big game. Usually, I'll fade US Soccer every chance I get, so, you know...could be I'm just reaching.
