  1. Jennings better get that slider down and away or he's not gonna get that ball back...
  2. I'm a bit surprised they pulled Chacin. We have plenty of arms so I don't mind it, just surprised. And I couldn't disagree more with the idea of PH Yelich for Arcia. They said he needed a day, and the fact that Perez is starting says a lot about our PH options against LH pitching. Maybe you go Saladino there, but I can understand leaving Arcia for now. Too early to get carried away.
  3. CC just got a text from Joe Maddon. It said thanks for batting Perez 2nd. He also recommended batting Chacin 3rd...
  4. Nice top half of the first...easy double play by Arcia.
  5. Yeah, that 619 OPS against Quintana...excellent argument, that explains everything... The numbers justify playing Perez to some degree. I still wouldn't do it but I understand it. I'd personally just assume I wasn't getting much offense from RF today and go boom or bust broxton while taking the elite defense. Batting Perez 2nd is still incredibly silly. Even going off those numbers, why wouldn't you bat Perez 5th or 6th with Moustakas ahead of him somewhere? If this outlines anything, it mostly tells us we really don't have much depth when facing a LHP. We are much better prepared for RHP.
  6. CC made it sound like he has something nagging him, so it may not be a choice. Tried to wait until Friday's game, but CC doesn't want to risk it. Not much you can do. Counsel seems to have a good pulse on positional players. That also makes me think they'll try really hard not to use him as a PH today as well. Give him 2 legit rest days. Hopefully we don't need him, kinda like yesterday.
  7. This is my thought to. I'm entirely willing to give him the benefit of the doubt for not playing Yelich. I'm more concerned with him playing what must be the 5th or 6th best RF option...and then batting him 2nd. He’s not. Please look at the data. I've looked at it quite a bit. Broxton is a much better defender in RF while being a slightly worse hitter vs lefties. Santana is definitely a better hitter than Perez and a bit worse defensively. I'd play Broxton and go all defense. I also wonder if Saladino can play out there, I'd much rather have him than Perez. Perez is also specifically bad against Quintana, fyi.
  8. This is my thought to. I'm entirely willing to give him the benefit of the doubt for not playing Yelich. I'm more concerned with him playing what must be the 5th or 6th best RF option...and then batting him 2nd.
  9. I still find it annoying, but I did some sorting on fangraphs of brewers stats over the last 30 days. See link below. Those are pretty good batted ball numbers. Also notice Kratz's numbers...I find that even more surprising than Perez. https://www.fangraphs.com/leaders.aspx?pos=all&stats=bat&lg=all&qual=40&type=2&season=2018&month=3&season1=2018&ind=0&team=23&rost=0&age=0&filter=&players=0&sort=4,d
  10. He's probably thinking that Perez has had much more success than Yelich against Quintana, but yes, I think you have to make an exception this time. Nobody is playing better ball than Yelich right now. We'll most likely see him pinch hitting or even replacing Perez at some point. Perez is a career like 610 ops guy against Quintana. If you want to sit Yelich fine...throw Broxton in and go primo OF defense. Or put Santana in and give him a few at bats...Santana is a better hitter.
  11. I'm much much less upset about Yelich getting the day off as I am about Perez in RF over Santana/Broxton/really anybody...and batting 2nd. Maybe he's putting him there to set himself up better for late game maneuvering? I'm grasping at straws here...this makes less sense than starting Tommy Lastella at 3b today over Bryant as some cubs fan suggested.
  12. I think Arcia has to start for the defense. Chacin and Miley both induce a lot of ground balls, we'll want the defense.
  13. Hopefully this means that if the Brewers do wind up facing the Cubs in the postseason, there will FINALLY be more Brewer fans than Cub fans in Miller Park. Why? There would be no difference, there would still be an overwhelming number of Cubs fans compared to Brewers fans. For playoffs, I personally won't sell my tickets to cubs fans. I know I could make a killing, but I'll go to most games and take friends/family. I imagine others will do similar. There will be a lot of Cubs fans, but probably not an overwhelming number like regular season games.
  14. You're probably right and that makes it sound much harder to get them IMO. The SSH will buy up a lot of those just to resell. Depends, they didn't do it last year. There may be more interest in a September that is an upward trend vs. downward. There has to be leftover tickets for the general public because we don't have that many season seat holders...nor do all of them have the funds to buy 8 tickets or want to resell. No lottery makes it easier in my opinion. If you want them that bad and are logged in at start time there will be thousands I am sure to get. I have done so many things that were in high demand and had a online start time. Not one time has said item/event been sold out. If you are there from the get-go the supply usually lasts a few minutes. Tplush is correct. I had asked my SSH rep about this a few days ago and was told to anticipate presales on a round by round basis. All signs point to it being very difficult for general public to get them. I'm sure some will get past the SSH, but I would anticipate the few that remain get snatched up almost immediately by the general public.
  15. Right. Braun/Aguilar basically have a week to play most days with an off day tomorrow and at the end of this stretch of LHP. Including today, there are 5 lefties in the next 7 games. After that, a ton of RHP. So Braun and Aguilar should play most of those and then might honestly start 50-60% of the games down the stretch. I think you might be underestimating how much they play down the stretch. If Thames wasn't in a funk, that might be closer to true. I can't see Granderson starting more than 1-2 games a week. Santana and Broxton will virtually never start. I'll be furious if Perez starts in the outfield in September. Not many other options.
  16. It's extremely difficult to get tickets if not a season ticket holder. I think they do some sort of mini lottery for each game/series. You'll probably be looking at secondary market for tickets unless you get lucky. I personally bought standing room only tickets to game 5 against the dbacks for $60 apiece. I doubt you could get a ticket with a seat anywhere in the park for less than $100 on the secondary market...especially considering if we make the DS it will very likely be against the cubs.
  17. Oh man, yes please bench Bryant for LaStella because LHB vs RHB. I really want to see that defense tonight, it will be more funny than yesterday...
  18. Which specific boards are you referring to? Do you have a link?
  19. I think this is about right. Maybe CC swaps Schoop and Moustakas. CC probably does swap Arcia and Pina. I personally would like to see Aguilar dropped in the order as he is simply not hitting well...and he really hasn't been since the break. I just don't see that happening.
  20. Kinda nice knowing that based on pitching probables at this point, the Brewers won't face Hamels again and won't get Lester until their final game against the Cubs. With no off days for the Cubs between now and then, it's not like Maddon can try to line up his rotation or bullpen any differently. You don't see the Cubs play this poorly in the field and on the mound very often, and one has got to figure that fatigue is starting to play a role. That could all change tomorrow should Quintana pitch well and the Cub bats put something together against Chacin - Regardless I'm pumped the Brewers already won this series and are set up very favorably down the stretch with 4 days off to keep key arms rested. Despite this crazy stretch for the Cubs, they only have 2 remaining. Completely agree that fatigue is probably impacting these guys. I'm not sure why Maddon isn't giving them more rest, the general travel schedule is probably harsh. Today is a night game and they have to travel to DC for a game right away tomorrow...that certainly won't help. I've been saying for a couple weeks that it would be a whole new ballgame if we were able to sweep the Cubs here. Even getting 2 of 3 leaves us within striking distance but would still require the Cubs to significantly falter. Hopefully we can build on our success yesterday and score another big win tonight.
  21. Absolutely. It's all cumulative. I know they have a ton of arms down there and won't have to use their best pitchers anyways, but it all helps...even if it's simply destroying confidence in these crappy aaa arms that were somehow getting outs in the first 2 months of the season.
  22. It's all cumulative. Maddon uses all his relievers all the time and wonders why his guys wear down. Strop/Cishek/Wilson are probably about as worn down as it gets and there's still a month to go. As much as CC will leave relievers in too long, he's careful to give guys rest so our key guys are much more fresh than his key guys. Really a perfect bullpen manager would be a hybrid of those 2
  23. He is not the greatest. I believe he has always been a bat first player. I would guess it doesn’t help that he didn’t even begin catching games as a professional until he turned 20. That's fair, but twice in the last 2 games he has dropped a fastball. Like, a ball thrown directly to him. I feel like you should make that mistake once a year at most. Not complaining, just surprised.
  24. Has Contreras always been this bad behind the plate? I mean this is simple catching the ball stuff...not even blocking in the dirt
