  1. I know I'm about 3-4 pitches behind at least, the comments made me think Moran hit a HR after the game tying single...
  2. I’d bet on the later of your two guesses. Agreed, with Hader looking shaky maybe you don't send him back out though. Not just the double, he's seen a lot of hard contact that inning. He also seemed to throw a lot of pitches, maybe 20...
  3. The cardinals are a real concern, they really need to cool off already. Glass half full, yes at least they are beating up the rockies today. But I would much rather the rockies win right now...
  4. It's less about making people uncomfortable and more to avoid constant whining...it really shouldn't be hard to follow the rules.
  5. I appreciate that Kratz made a point to take a few pitches. Taking that called 3rd strike was silly but initially I liked it. Baseball is cumulative and despite him sucking, it's good to get Musgrove out early if possible and weaken their bullpen for the next 2 games. And if a guy is gonna make an out anyways, might as well see 6 pitches. Hopefully Musgrove allows 4 more next inning before they pull him though...
  6. I mentioned it as an opinion only, I personally never saw mention of a 6 man rotation from CC or Stearns.
  7. If they put him on waivers again, they will have literally 0 leverage as they can't pull him back. The claiming team would simply get him. That won't happen.
  8. Oh I agree, I get it. He has been a solid addition for them since picking him up, wouldn't be surprised if they might want to bring him back. They probably thought our offer was worth nothing to them and didn't care about the money. At that point might as well keep him around. If the Reds have any more money they feel like setting on fire, they can call me I'll happily come pick it up. I will edit and add I'm not trying to insult yours or anyone else's opinion with my sarcasm the last handful of posts. I have a strong opinion in this case that reds ownership/gm situation is a clown show. Yours and others justifications or trying to see their side have some merit for sure.
  9. This makes some sense. Maybe they are trying to show other GM's that they are the best negotiators and can out-posture them at every turn...or some related form of stupidity. Part of me wonders if they have some sort of under the table deal with the Cubs to NOT trade him to us...considering the way they acquired both Theo and Maddon, wouldn't surprise me.
  10. If you're a GM, would you rather keep $1 million or throw it in the garbage if those are your only 2 options? The Reds GM opted to throw it in the garbage. The Schoop thing is different in that we are contending and deemed him to be an upgrade. Harvey pitching is literally negative value, I assume the Reds have their own versions of Wilkerson that they could give a look to for the next month and hope to get lucky...or at the very least learn something. So basically, the Reds threw $1 million in the garbage and lost value...rather than save $ 1 million and gain a fringey prospect. Hats off to Krall, that guy knows things.......
  11. Krall should hold up a sign that says "I have no idea what I'm doing"
  12. I would find it weird and probably vindictive if the Reds hung onto Harvey. There is no reason for it, at the very least I'm sure ownership would like to save $1 million and the Reds would prefer to let a younger guy pitch a few games down the stretch. I suspect Riggleman is part of the posturing...I bet Harvey's bags are already packed
  13. Miley should pretty much always be starting. If we went the 4 route, it would be those first 4 with Peralta/Guerra/Davies in long relief. And yes I would agree most starters would be on extremely short leashes.
  14. Doubt they do that. We will have to play the wild card game...most likely. It isn't like those guys are dominant by any means either. Agree on Chacin. Brewers starters ERA over the last 30 days. 2.57, 3.56, 4.39, 5.63, 6.00. Chacin is the 3.56. Miley the 2.57. Guerra is the 6.00 ERA with 6 additional unearned from that debacle his last start.
  15. Lineup prediction Cain Yelich Braun Aguilar Shaw Schoop Pina Arcia P Schoop is 3 for 5 career against Musgrove. Moose has been struggling. Braun has been hitting well. Shaw is on a HR binge.
  16. We are 2-8 against the Pirates this year, I wish it was a "could go either way" version
  17. They would already get an extra day off without a 6 man rotation. I wouldn't want to take 2 starts away from both Anderson and Chacin in Sept and give them to Harvey. No way. Especially when they're already getting an extra day rest all month. I think it's unlikely they actually do a 6 man rotation, just a thought more than anything. Kinda like the idea of having a bullpen full of 2-4 inning guys...unlikely to actually happen unless you are Tampa. With that said...of the potential 6 starters, I see Chacin being a bit better than the rest...but otherwise they are generally interchangeable. The extra rest may help all starters be more effective. Covering innings isn't an enormous concern with all the off days and expanded rosters. I think it's possible CC/Stearns could determine this route with the extra rest helps the starters post higher quality innings when they do pitch.
  18. Broxton in very limited time this year has a higher WAR than Braun, Thames, Schoop, Arcia, Pina, Kratz, and Perez. I know that's going to do little more than make WAR look really questionable, but I'm just saying it to illustrate that Broxton isnt a guy you just give away. His defense provides pretty substantial value, you could argue at his best it is to the OF what Arcia is to the IF. I'm not saying he is worth a ton but at least a young lottery ticket or two. We can always keep him on the 25 next year as a 4th/5th OFer if we can't get a fair offer, so there's still leverage. Most of his WAR probably comes from defense and his 3-4 home run robberies over a very short span. It's true we have some level of leverage, but I suspect most teams will see through that. Broxton is very unlikely to be a Brewer next year.
  19. That may be, but Broxton still has value THIS year. It would be nice to have him in playoffs as a late inning defensive replacement. If the Brewers have to give up anything for Harvey, it will be someone nowhere near the value of Broxton. If the 40 man is the concern, just dump Orf or Lyles.. You are assuming Broxton makes the 25-man come postseason time. I don't think Broxton makes the postseason roster. I see the value in the playoffs, but I have this weird feeling that Santana is going to come up in September and force playing time by posting a crazy OPS. His motivation level is going to be through the roof trying to prove himself over that last month.
