You forgot "that feels as good as it's going to all night" whenever a guy takes a knock of some sort. For me that's the classic Rock comment. Anytime a guy gets beaned or hit with a liner or something...I know it's imminent.

4 Bold Brewers Predictions for 2022
KeithStone53151 replied to Tim Muma's topic in Brewer Fanatic Front Page News
I disagree on Yelich in general but we've covered that in another thread. I also understand these are bold predictions, but one thing you didn't really mention is the impact of the DH in either of your pitching predictions. That alone is going to significantly impact our pitchers. Even if they are generally more effective than 2021 as a whole, it would be hard to be better statistically.- 14 replies

For all my whining(yes i was admittedly a bit over the top in my complaining), the Brewers happen to have very few games on other services and none on apple tv or peacock, which wouldn't impact me directly but both my father and father in law wouldn't get those games as they are both cable people still and i'd be tasked with helping them get those games. So for the Brewers this whole thing is a nothingburger...this year. I still have concerns about baseball going this route and what it will mean in the future, but for this year it's inconsequential.

Dreaming of a Bryan Reynolds Trade
KeithStone53151 replied to Tim Muma's topic in Transaction Rumors & Proposals
I saw the same, it makes me wonder if sending Ashby or Small or Lauer would be comparable or better. Worth noting you almost never hear about Brewer trades before they happen. It's almost always a big surprise and something we didn't see coming. -

I think Urena is a better than you might think signing. He has always started but he's a hard thrower with a lot of life on his stuff. I think he's the type to play up in relief and I really think he'll surprise people out of the pen. i'm convinced he'll open the season either in the pen, or in arizona ramping up but he'll be in the pen in April for sure.

If Yelich isn't hitting for power, he probably will get attacked with pitches in the zone much more consistently and 375 obp won't be realistic. He definitely needs to continue to focus on both all-around hitting and hitting for power unless his body is telling him he can't do it. Also, there's absolutely no guarantee if he adjusts his focus to contact that he'll all of a sudden be a 375 obp/40 doubles guy anyway. In 2020 his whiff rate was a career high 33.6%. Up from 22.8 in 2018 and 28.6 in 2019. In 2021 it dropped down to 24.9%, but his hard hit rate dropped a lot and his barrel rate fell off a cliff. This tells me in 2021 he focused more on making good contact as you've suggested and less on HR...and he posted 248/362/373 with only 19 doubles in 475 PA. He also only stole 9 bases despite being on base so much. If Yelich is more healthy, stronger, irons out his mechanics...focusing on being the hitter he was makes so much more sense than punting the idea of HR and focusing on doubles, speed, and obp as a 30 year old.

So previously when I said we were maybe 5-10 years away from the schedule involving 8 different providers on exclusive deals. Seems I was off. Looks like there will be games Sunday exclusively on peacock premium AND ESPN, on Tuesday there will be games exclusively on tbs, on Friday there will be games exclusively on apple tv plus, on Saturday there will be games exclusively on Fox sports. It's already completely stupid and it's only going to get worse. For the guy who said "it's just 5 bucks". By 2024 we're gonna be paying for 12 streaming services at 5-15 bucks a month each to watch every Brewer game.

While I understand your point that his production last year would have fit better in the leadoff spot, it's tough for me to justify taking a back to back mvp caliber seasons in 18/19 with 80 combined hr and over 1000 ops both seasons and having him reinvent himself at age 30 as a slap hitter. He should be striving to get back to his 18/19 form, not focusing on obp and singles.

Keston Hiura and the Cactus League MVPs
KeithStone53151 replied to Kyle Lobner's topic in Brewer Fanatic Front Page News
What part of hiura at 1b was so bad? 2021 Hiura OAA 0, uzr -0.1, drs 1. 2021 Tellez OAA -4, uzr -2.0, drs -1. The eye test validated this for me. Regarding spring stats, your primary support for why hiuras good spring numbers won't lead to success in Milwaukee are yelich, nick Franklin, christian bethancourt, Ivan de Jesus, and Alex presley. C'mon man...aside from yelich who had a wildly unprecedented collapse, these guys are nowhere near the hitting talent of hiura. None were highly regarded prospects for their bat and none hit anywhere else previously. Between all 4 guys, I see 2 total seasons at the mlb level over 700 ops...none over 800 before their hot spring with the brewers. It's a bit ridiculous to look at the history of these 4 guys as having any bearing whatsoever on what hiura might do this season -

I agree with what seems like the consensus, in the Brewer forum seems best -
I really don't agree with this take. Keston spent the entire off season doing 2 things. 1, getting shredded. 2, making mechanical adjustments specifically designed to help him handle belt high fastballs better. The swing we are seeing now I firmly believe will be much more successful against belt high fastballs. I'm sure some will get by as they do everyone, but I don't believe it will be like last year where he knows it's coming and still can't hit it. All that said, one thing I noticed is his swing in BP has less leg kick than his swing in game. It's still much less than his leg kick last year, but the difference is notable. It seems like something he'll have to be conscious of constantly going forward to make sure old habits don't leak back into what he's doing. I could see a scenario where all of a sudden the leg kick gets too big in June and high fastballs become a problem again.

Spring Training Games Thread - 2022
KeithStone53151 replied to Joseph Zarr's topic in Milwaukee Brewers Talk
Having a leg kick won't necessarily doom hiura. I understand the general concern from the last 2 years though. I would be very interested to see a comparison in his leg kick from 2021-2022. In that BP video it is lower than it has been in game, but I honestly believe both are lower than 2021. He also completed limited the toe tap and there's generally very little noise in his swing aside from the leg kick. He also looks like he put him some serious gym work in the off season. I'm heavily buying into hiura and think he'll be one of our best three hitters this season. I really think we're gonna see a sub 25 percent k rate from him this season.
