    A soft tossing lefty against the Brewers less than imposing batting order against LHP does not inspire optimism.

    The Brewers offense has been better than I’ve expected so far, but my enthusiasm is dampened by my concerns about how the pitching can hold up. Cutting into the depth this early in the season is going to be a problem, especially when you have to expect that there will be more injuries.

    If you look at their current team hitting stats they don’t suggest a team that would be below average in runs scored per game. I don’t think they’re going to stay there.

    For all of the laughing about the Cardinals pitching, coming into tonight they were about average in runs allowed but below average in runs scored. Their offense has not been producing as expected.

    Down 2-0 after losing the first two at home is something else again.

    Wait and see. This is coming from the same source that told us Woodruff would have a minimum stay on the IL. If Burnes goes on the IL and can be ready to pitch when the 15 days are up, I’ll consider that a win.

    I’m no kiniseologist, but it seems like a pitcher is using his entire chest to rock back and follow through

    With Burnes going out now too, the Brewers are probably going to need to add another reliever to the staff to absorb innings that Woodruff and Burnes might have covered but that their replacements probably won’t.

    Yep.Just what he said about Woodruff. I’ll be really surprised if Burnes doesn’t miss a few starts. Hopefully no more than that.

    If the Brewers follow their usual pattern they’ll play a player short for a few days thinking that Winker doesn’t need 10 days, and then put him on the IL later in the week.

    I went to a game in Seattle in 2018 when it was called Safeco Field. The game was against the Giants and there were a lot of Giants fans at the game and walking around town in general. The experience at the stadium was fine, and it was easy to get there on public transportation.

    I meant that they were done for today, but I also meant that the regular season is meaningless. With all of the injuries and load management rests, you get 7 seeds like the Lakers and 8 seeds like the heat that are a lot more dangerous than the seeds suggest. Even if Giannis can play, this series isn’t going to be the cakewalk everyone who was looking ahead to the conference finals was expecting.

    With Giannis out the Bucks are done. The regular season is meaningless.

    Over/under on Darvish Ks against this lineup? I’d say 11.5.

    Oblique tightness sounds like an IL stint coming.

    Maybe Woodruff can buck the history of Brewers aces being out much longer than the original projections. Us old timers were stung by cases like Teddy Higuera and Juan Nieves in addition to more recent examples like Ben Sheets and Jimmy Nelson.

    The fact that Woodruff said the injury would be season ending if it occurred around the All Star break pretty clearly indicates that he won’t be back until sometime after the All Star break at the earliest. Season ending doesn’t seem out of the question.
