  1. Can someone remind me how I can sync the Brewers radio feed with the You Tube telecast? NM I found it.
  2. Is there a site somewhere that lists what percentage of a team’s runs are produced by home runs? I would think that the Brewers would have one of the higher percentages given that they are about average in OBP but near the top (2nd in NL and 4th in MLB) in HRs.
  3. They showed someone in the stands with the ball but I couldn’t tell what deck that was.
  4. This delay is going to take a little longer but it might be the last one.
  5. They aren’t going to change that much on a day to day basis. But I think these are down from about 95% making the playoffs and 9% winning the WS at the beginning of June.
  6. There actually was a rain delay at a game we attended some time around 2015. There was one of those pop up downpours and they had to put a tarp on while they got the roof closed. The first game we ever attended at Miller Park in 2001 was called after one inning because of a power outage.
  7. It sounds pretty good to have 10 straight hits be XBH, but it loses some luster when that covers 20 games.
  8. It was expected to be, and was, a short delay. Burnes would have come back. Even if it had been a wasted start he still could have pitched again before the All Star break.
  9. They must have really thought it wouldn’t last long
  10. This rain is like what happened here last night. It came quickly, rained like crazy for about 15 minutes, and then moved out.
  11. I’m just using the measure that others have used after I was told that looking at runs per game was a terrible way to measure an offense, and to compare the Twins to the Brewers using a measure that others have used to make the point the Brewers offense isn’t so bad because of the number of hitters the Brewers have who are at or slightly above league average. It wasn’t meant as an “argument” but just pointing out some facts. But, if you think you have never cherry picked stats to make a point you are kidding yourself.
  12. I know you’re just being an agitator with that comment but I’ll respond anyway for the benefit of readers who don’t know what the heck you’re talking about. When it comes to evaluating playoff prospects I like to compare the Brewers to NL playoff contenders because that is the direct competition. When the Brewers are playing an AL team it makes sense to compare them to that team. For whatever reason (worse hitters, better pitchers, more pitcher friendly parks) scoring in the AL is about .2 RPG lower than in the NL. So, the Twins are third in the AL in scoring whereas the Brewers are 6th in the NL. For devotees of the advanced stats, the OPS+ would seem to indicate that the Twins offense is significantly better than the Brewers. They have both more significantly above average hitters and no black holes.
  13. Not any more. With Yelich out it’s Davis in center. That’s a yikes of a different type.
  14. It was probably just a matter of time until Yelich would have back problems. Looking at the Twins lineup and measuring it by OPS+ they really put the Brewers to shame in that department. They have like 5 guys equal to or better than the Brewers have in their starting lineup and some of those are better by a wide margin. Good thing the Brewers have one of their best starters on the mound tonight to keep them in check. (Don’t know how to put things in blue on my iPad.
  15. That really will be a test then. Because the Cubs and Pirates supposedly have terrible bullpens too. The Twins should be able to put up some runs against the Brewers 6th and 7th starters.
  16. The real stoppable force is the Brewers offense which tends to make otherwise leaky bullpens look good, as evidenced by the latest home stand. As one example, Hendricks left the game after a couple of innings and the Brewers did nothing the rest of the game except for a consolation run in the ninth after the game was out of reach.
  17. What’s the value in having Burnes and Woodruff back to back when there is a big drop off between them and the other three starters? That gives you 3 straight days (sometimes 4 if they stay with 5 off days between starts) of lesser starters that virtually guarantee heavy bullpen usage. It might be better to have them separated.
  18. Good to see that the Brewers are giving priority to having Burnes pitch in a meaningless exhibition over maximizing the chances of winning a regular season game.
  19. According to the MLB app Alexander and Ashby are pitching against the Twins. If this is accurate, either something is wrong with Burnes or they are giving him a break. I was hoping he would pitch Tuesday and Sunday and not pitch in the ASG.
  20. It’s a matter of opinion and speculation either way. My opinion is based on the fact that the Brewers lost 4 of their first 5 after Sveum took over so there was no immediate impact. Then they salvaged the last game of a series in Cincinnati before coming home to face the Pirates, who they had beaten 11 of 12 times already. They continued that domination by sweeping that series and then won 2 of 3 against the Cubs who didn’t field their best lineups.
  21. It “worked” because the Mets collapsed, the Brewers were able to win some games the last week against the awful Pirates and a Cubs team that was setting up for the playoffs, and Sabatthia pitched his butt off. It wasn’t because the Brewers or Sveum did anything special.
  22. Is there something wrong with Burnes now or do they just want him to be rested for the ASG? I see they have Alexander and Ashby listed as the starters for the Twins series.
  23. They were in a chase for the wild card, but that was a pretty ridiculous panic move.
