  1. Is highest percentage of hits as HRs considered a good thing or a bad thing?
  2. Are Twins fans all positive because the team is in first place, or are they concerned about the prospects for breaking the playoff losing streak?
  3. Springer with a grand slam to put the Jays up 8-3.
  4. Who’s the long man in the bullpen tonight? Going to need him soon.
  5. We’ve got another 4;hour game in the making here.
  6. Not to be greedy, but not getting another run or two there with the middle of the order hurts.
  7. Berrios had had some good games just before that, and he was matched up against Gonzalez. So, yeah, I didn’t expect much. It’s flattering that my comments make such an impression on you that you can pull them out a month later.
  8. They are facing Berrios, who managed to give up 8 runs to the Brewers in 2 innings. Might not take devil magic.
  9. For us, the length of the games is the main reason we don’t go to more, and often don’t see the end of games. Our 2 daughters who live in town and enjoy going to games are ready to leave after 3 hours, and a lot of the games we go to are just approaching the 8th inning at that point. When I went to 30-35 games a year in the late 70’s and early 80’s before we had kids, the games averaged about 2 1/2 hours and I never left a close 9 inning game early. I could even go to a weeknight game and be home at a reasonable time to get to bed and up to work the next morning. With almost all games on TV now it’s more convenient to follow the games that way and just go to 10 games or so a year to get the ballpark experience. And we’re getting close to dropping our 10 pack and going to even fewer games in person. Maybe the pitch clock will help.
  10. Hitting with RISP hasn’t been a problem for the Brewers tonight.
  11. Do you mean not trying to hit the ball as hard as possible all the time?
  12. The way the standings are evolving, with the Phillies and Giants both scuffling, a real possibility is developing that the NL Central race could turn into a battle for home field advantage for a meeting between the teams in the wild card round of the playoffs. The winner would claim the 3 seed and the runner up might get the final wild card spot.
  13. Sweeping a 4 game series is hard but once you’ve won 3 it shouldn’t be any harder than winning any other game.
  14. I think you meant “closer”, not “loser”. ?
  15. While we wait for the 9th inning to start I have another random comment. When they show the crowd at a key moment of the game there are always at least a few people holding up their phones to record the moment. It’s beyond me why someone at the event would want to watch it through their phone or be distracted by holding it up. If you want to see a video if something it’s easy enough to find. Would you enjoy it more if you have a recording that shows the view from your seat and what you would have seen better if you hadn’t been holding your phone up? And how often are you actually going to pull out that video and watch it? When it really bugs me is when people hold their phones up and obstruct my view.
  16. But there haven’t been any replay reviews, which take up more time.
  17. I remember when the MLB record for a 9 inning game was less than 4 hours. Now the Brewers seem to get a couple of them every year.
