  1. When you watch a team play every day you see guys who are going along well suddenly look like they’re in a mini slump. I’m betting that Urias will be getting a day off tomorrow. His bat has looked a little tired the last couple of days.
  2. What would be the cost to get Scherzer? Unless the Nats ate some money, the remainder of his contract would cost around $15-16M. The more $$ they eat, the more they would want in return. Gray isn't as good, but would be much cheaper to acquire and pay. He would be #4. I wonder if there is a lefty worth having they could get? Boras essentially said Max would only waive his NTC if the acquiring team signs him to an extension, so can probably rule the Brewers out on Scherzer. The Nats are only 2.5 games out in a wide open division race. Why would they be wanting to move Scherzer?
  3. If Counsell plans to stay with the 6 man rotation through the All Star break, Burnes would only be getting one more start before the ASB, and that would be next Wednesday, possibly against deGrom. If there is any question about Burnes, they could skip that start, or maybe tweak the rotation to pitch Houser or a few others on 5 days and fit Burnes in for a start against the Reds, who didn’t see either him or Woodfruff in the 3 series against them.
  4. I am so glad to see the Brewers win the first game of this series. Anyone who follows the Brewers closely can recall series in Pittsburgh where the Brewers come in riding high and end up watching the Bucs pull off a humiliating sweep. That happened in both 2017 and 2018.
  5. I was wondering what Cousins would be like in a high leverage situation, and the early returns are not good.
  6. I thought so too until I Googled “calf strain recovery” I was traveling today and couldn’t see the game but saw that Wong left with a leg injury. If they’re saying calf strain, that’s what they said when Trout was injured and he’s been out almost 2 months. Hopefully this isn’t that serious.
  7. I know it’s easier said than done but here’s where I would just like to see Bradley look for something away and bloop it over the infield.
  8. If I were Bud Black I would be walking Adames with a good probability of two Ks behind him. Maybe JBJ can come up with another piece of extra inning magic.
  9. I have a bad feeling about this now. Williams has enough trouble pitching clean innings when there isn’t a runner on second to start, and the Brewers will be heading into the bottom of their order with the speedy Pina as the gift runner.
  10. Pinch hitting Pina for Narvaez probably isn’t a move I would make. I was picturing Narvaez punching an outside pitch to left field.
  11. As bad as Bradley has been, he has had a couple of big hits late in games, so there’s always hope. Have to get someone on first.
  12. Maybe because it was overshadowed by the DBacks 17 game losing streak that the Brewers managed to snap. Now it’s 7-28. So, now it’s time to prepare for the Bucks next choke job.
  13. Glad to hear the report about how much better Hiura is seeing the ball as he strikes out on a pitch 2 feet outside.
