  1. The bullpen has shown some signs of wear in recent days.
  2. I went to bed after about 5 innings, but didn’t Chourio also whistle a line drive that carried to the center fielder? The Brewers have had plenty of other games where the offense does next to nothing for most of the game so I’m not sure you can conclude that they “came out of their element” last night any more than they did in other games where they got shut down.
  3. Over the last 10 days the Cardinals have moved solidly into second place. Is everyone still as sure as they were that the Cardinals are a bad team that will collapse as the season moves on.
  4. I don’t think this stretch of 13 games was that “dreaded” given the nature of the opponents. I was interested to see how the Brewers would handle the pitching staff with no off days for 13 days, both with SP and the bullpen. The Brewers seem to be sticking with a 6 day rotation, even if that means using 6 different starting pitchers. They get a little bit of a reset with the off days around the Phillies series. The real “dreaded “ stretch is the 19 games in 18 days, or whatever it is, leading up to the All Star break. With the new injuries to Hall and Fitzpatrick the challenge presented by that stretch got more complicated. Hopefully a couple of the pitchers on the IL can come back and be effective by then.
  5. How about Gasser backed up by Crow tonight, then send one of them down to add backup for Sproat tomorrow.? They have to be prepared to punt tonight’s game and hope to have most of the bullpen available tomorrow if the game is winnable. Then hopefully get solid starts from Misiorowski, Drohan, and Harrison against the Phillies and between that and the bookend off days be in decent shape by Tuesday.
  6. I went to bed in the sixth thinning with the Brewers trailing 9 to 5. I woke up about 1230 and looked at my phone to see that the Brewers were ahead 14 to 10 but within seconds it was 14 to 14. I’m glad the Brewers won, but MLB should be embarrassed that they allowed a game to be played in that stadium. In addition to the de facto Little League dimensions, the rock hard surface brought back bad memories from the Astroturf days. Two more games like that could destroy the pitching staff for days.
  7. Not a good night for people who paid thousands of dollars for tickets and had to stand in lines that were blocks long to get in.
  8. Playing in this park could screw up the pitching staff for a week. Won’t be staying up for games that are guaranteed to go past midnight.
  9. I think you would agree that the 4,15 RPG in May is closer to what the offense will be like for the rest of the season than the almost 9 runs a game in the late April/early June games. There’s even a good chance that it will be closer than the 5.26 RPG in the last 37 games.
  10. Your comment should be directed to Sveum, who has referred to the Brewers offense as “feast or famine”.
  11. It’s a matter of taste, but I don’t consider the lowest seats to be the best seats. They’re great if you want to be seen on TV or get a close up look at players, but personally I think a little more elevation gives you a better view of the action if you really want to watch the game I’m the same way with basketball. With seats up a little higher you can see spacing and how plays are developing.
  12. The 2026 Brewers offense is still a bit of a puzzle. It has been described as "feast or famine" and there certainly is evidence of that in this stretch of 37 games. That stretch includes 4 games at the end of April, 7 games to begin June, and 26 games in May. In the 4 games at the end of April the Brewers scored 33 runs and in the 7 games in June they have scored 61.. So, , in those 11 games the Brewers have scored 94 runs (8.5 RPG). For the 26 games in May they scored 108 runs (4.15 RPG,, 10th best in the NL). Interestingly, the W-L records in those two periods were almost identical. In May they were 19-7 (..731) and in the April/June games they were 8-3 (.727). The big difference is that, while the 4 games of 12 runs or more in the April/June games fluff up the run totals, they are only good for 1 win each. In May, the Brewers only had 2 games in which they scored more than 6 runs (7 and 9 once each). But they also scored 5 or 6 runs 10 times and they won every one of those games. They scored 3 or fewer runs 10 times (no shutouts) but, because of exceptional run prevention were still 4-6 in those 10 games. Let's see if the offensive explosions of the last week are the beginning of a resurgent offense or a blip that has been exaggerated by piling up runs against back end relievers (and one position player). The May offense might be a better reflection of what to expect.
  13. Looks like the Brewers offense just needed to get out of May
  14. Drohan obviously has earned more starts, It might be helpful to separate his starts from Harrison’s so that one team doesn’t face both of them on back to back days. Though two lefties against the Phillies next weekend would be useful.
  15. It’s for the MLB “Play Ball Weekend” I think all of the teams have that logo on their caps this weekend.
  16. Yelich and Bauers are both getting the day off. Sanchez catching with Contreras at DH, Mitchell in CF and Perkins in RF. The order: Chourio LF Turang 2B Contreras DH Vaughn 1B Sanchez C Mitchell CF, Rengifo 3B Perkins RF Ortiz SS
  17. I was thinking that too. Give Contreras the whole day off and let Vaughn be DH with Bauers at 1B. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Perkins in the starting lineup today.
  18. I’ve only been to one game in Coors Field. That was game in 2015 between the Rockies and Reds. The Rockies had a 10 run third inning and won 17 to 7 while hitting five home runs. So, I think all Coors Field games are like that.
  19. Bold prediction. This game will not end 2-1. In other words, the offense better add on some runs
  20. Only if you don’t count the two Chourio hit on Thursday.
  21. And he has been awful at the plate all week. I wonder if that finger issue is still around.
  22. They just acquired reliever Joel Kuhnel from the A’s for cash.
  23. They will also know when the appeal will be heard and plan accordingly in case the suspension is upheld. With all of the significant injury problems affecting the Brewers pitching staff, Uribe’s possible suspension isn’t even a drop in the ocean.
