  1. This series is on its way to continuing a trend the Brewers have been following this season. They are 5-0 in series against teams that have winning records if you exclude their games against the Brewers. They are 0-2 in series against teams that have losing records even with their wins over the Brewers.
  2. Hendricks vs the Brewers and Hendricks vs everyone else is like two different pitchers. The good thing about today is that a 15-0 loss only counts as one loss. ETA: Let me update that to 20-0. ETA: Make it 30-0.
  3. Reds gave up 5 runs in the 10th inning to lose yesterday, and have given up 6 in the 10th today (so far). A game that was 2-1 after 5 innings is now 14-8.
  4. In the category of pissing away a game, just saw the Twins literally throw one away in the last of the 10th. They had a two run lead with the bases loaded and the 2B fumbled an easy play that would have ended it. Then the next batter hit an easy grounder to third and the 3B threw wildly allowing the tying and winning runs to score. Ouch.
  5. Well Hader can't keep a 0.00 ERA all season. I feel like we're playing with house money though, since we've already won the series. Not house money when you have a lead with two outs in the ninth. Losing a game like that hurts any time.
  6. Unfortunately, loading the bases in the 8th will bring the Padres back to the top of their order in the 9th. Hopefully Hader can keep Tatis and Machado from coming up as the tying or winning run.
  7. I don’t think he is THE 8th inning guy. But, this is what can happen when you have to go to the bullpen in the 5th inning and are working out of trouble more often than not.
  8. I'm in two separate fantasy leagues, and I am at the 4 player DL limit in both leagues. I've got Juan Soto, Tim Anderson, Gavin Lux, Starling Marte on for position players, and looking like Acuna heading there too possibly. It seems like a league wide epidemic. One option would be to take Anderson off the IL. He’s been playing for a week. There have been a lot of players on the IL this year. The league I’m in has a 3 player limit and everyone is at the limit.
  9. I always thought the cramp description was odd and even more so by today. I'm sure it would be better called a calf strain. When I tore a calf muscle playing basketball about 45 years ago, at first I thought it was a cramp. Then I realized I couldn’t work it out like a cramp. I won’t be surprised if Urias is out for awhile. Even a strained calf can be as dangerous as a mild hamstring pull.
  10. I know, right. The number of hits he’s given up has doubled in each of his last two starts. Not a good trend. This series may be a good example of “It’s not who you play, it’s when you play them”. The Brewers lead with their two aces and miss both Darvish and Snell.
  11. Probably not going to get more than 5 innings from Woodruff tonight, if he makes it that far.
  12. Hendricks gives up 4 HR and 6 runs to the Braves in the first inning. He’s tuning up for his 2 hit complete game shutout against the Brewers on Saturday.
  13. What’s to explain? It was a bonehead mistake that might not have made any difference. They said he started to third, then started back, but didn’t come all the way back to tag up. Must have thought the ball might fall in somehow.
  14. That is a rough series loss. Brewers have to stay afloat with this current lineup and they have a difficult week on the road coming up.
  15. I hope Hader isn’t rusty. He hasn’t been getting much work. Don’t need him walking guys or feeding his gopher.
  16. One was a classic example of Hiura being afraid to make a throw that most 2B woukd make easily, and he opted to make the short throw to first. The one in the 8th was hit pretty much right on the bag and Vogelbach prudently decided to take the sure out instead of risking hitting the runner in the back. I haven’t seen the whole game so I don’t know what the third one is.
  17. Nuts. On TV that Hiura swing looked good off the bat.
  18. I wonder if Counsell would use Hader in the 9th and leave him in for the 10th if it’s still tied and he didn’t have to work too hard in the 9th.
