  1. Is there some kind of force field around the Brewers SS spot that affects throws? Or are Urias’ yips contagious?
  2. I hope that doesn’t happen. I’m one of those old traditionalists who prefers to see players selected for the ASG based on current performance and not popularity. Even if Yelich is selected, I would hope that he would choose to use the four days to rest instead of going through the preparations for an exhibition game.
  3. It’s an especially bad take when you consider that Narvaez was coming off the IL. But, for the AS team, Posey is having a great season so far, as has Carson Kelly of the DBacks. Realmuto would easily be ahead of Narvaez too. I don’t think we’ll be seeing any Brewers position players in the ASG unless there is a lot of attrition.
  4. I get not wanting to bring in Hader with a 5 run lead. But this isn’t a normal situation considering the opponent and where they were in the batting order. Blow this game and Hader might be sitting the next 3 days with nothing resembling a save situation.
  5. Perdomo’s assignment must have been to set up a save situation for Hader. Now he has very little cushion with some exceptionally dangerous hitters coming up.
  6. I’ll be impressed if Perdomo can get 3 outs and still have a lead. Edit: I’ll be pleasantly surprised if Perdomo can get one out.
  7. A split would be great, especially with Hauser and Anderson as two of the starters. The Padres have been scorching hot, especially on offense, while winning 9 in a row and 12 of their last 13. They’ve scored 91 runs in those games even though they had several key players on the Covid list for some of those games. Tatis was on my opponent’s team in fantasy last week, and he was 11 for 14 with 4 HR, 11 RBI, and 8 XBH in 4 games after coming off the Covid list. He’s in a zone that would call for IBB no matter the situation.
  8. There is quite a difference between leading 14-0 and facing a position player pitcher and leading 8-2. One of my daughters sent me something from somebody on Twitter saying Yelich was classless for swinging 3-0 with a 6 run lead. The poster had a Cubs logo by his name. Any doubt that this guy would be having orgasms of ecstasy if one of his Cubbies did the same thing. Especially when that hitter is trying to find his stroke after a month on the IL.
  9. I don’t think anyone is suggesting that Urias wasn’t in the starting lineup today because he needs rest. The only relevant decision today is whether to start Shaw or Urias at third against Castillo. In addition to the potential offense, playing Urias at third might not be the best choice in light of his throwing yips.
  10. Somewhat misleading because he's hit into a couple pretty hard outs. First AB today had 115mph exit velocity and xBA of .850...out. The strikeouts aren't encouraging but he also missed a month straight. I would say I'm about a 2 out of 10 on the concerned meter right now. He’s had one hard hit out, the line drive in the first inning today. I’m giving him the benefit of the doubt after the month off, but last season and the fact that he wasn’t exactly mashing the ball to start this year (just one XBH) has my concern level quite a bit higher than 2. I’m really not expecting to see what Yelich did the second half of 2018 and all of 2019, but something closer to the first half of 2018 would be welcome.
  11. For people who aren’t Badger fans, LePay is annoying most of the time. He has an up and down speaking pattern that irritates me.
  12. Isn’t the simple answer to guys sometimes not playing the day after hitting a HR that the managers plan out their lineups based on matchups and attempting to get everyone in the lineup once or twice a week and giving even the best players an occasional day off? They aren’t inclined to change that plan based on what a hitter does one day against a pitcher that they won’t be facing the next day. I think people in the business are less likely to overreact to one result than fans are. Trying to play “the hot hand” because of one or two ABs is likely counterproductive.
  13. Are you forgetting last Sunday when Peralta left with an 8-0 lead? I am not looking forward to the dregs of the bullpen trying to get by Winker, Castellanos, et al. I think it’s going to take more than 5 to win today in this launching pad. Hopefully the Brewers will be able to add on against the Reds arson squad.
  14. Exactly 40 pitches and he had to work really hard that inning. Unless he can come back with a quick inning or two I think he’ll be out after 5.
  15. Just went to set a recording for the game because I won’t be around for the beginning. First time I realized it’s on FS1, not the usual Bally Sports. I find I often can take the games with less aggravation if I record them and then start watching and fast forward through the irritating parts. With that standard it never takes me long to catch up.
  16. The Rays are presumably going to be calling up their top prospect, Wander Franco, and have no need for Adames. Regardless of the value of this trade, it’s a pretty clear concession from Stearns that the Grisham trade did not work out as he expected.
  17. Routine grounder with a catcher carrying a piano on his back running and Urias still can’t make the throw.
  18. Woodruff has no one to blame but himself for losing this game tonight. He should have learned from the Phillies game that you can’t give up a run.
