  1. I’m all in favor of a pitcher working quickly and inducing balls in play for easy outs.
  2. Ugh, Yelich. Maybe he should be swinging at more first pitch fastballs instead of starting down 0-1 and 0-2 all the time.
  3. Williams has pretty significantly outperformed his overall career numbers against the Brewers. Maybe tonight will be the night the Brewers score a run or two and jump out to a lead in the early innings. High on my wish list for tonight is seeing Yelich hit a line drive double into left center field.
  4. It’s a good thing this series is ending because the Twins hitters are too good for the Brewers back end pitchers, while any Twins pitcher can sail through the Brewers lineup.
  5. If I were Cardinal fan I would be starting with the memories of my favorite team appearing in 10 World Series in my lifetime, winning 5 of them. I would also know that they have a history of developing players and making moves to make the team playoff contenders more often than not. I wonder how that feels.
  6. Yelich did look a lot better on that strikeout than his other 5 this season.
  7. Good thing the Brewers have a strong bullpen.
  8. Garcia is another one who seems to be out to prove that 2020 was not a fluke. The middle of the order lets a struggling starter off the hook.
  9. He isn’t counting the Mets and Nationals, who haven’t played yet.
  10. I am not saying he looks good, but to me, the at bats look better than last year. In what way? How much better can you look striking and and dribbling a ball 10 feet in front of the plate.
  11. One run seems like a huge deficit these days.
  12. One earned run in 2 1/2 games from the “improved” Brewers offense.
  13. That silly challenge immediately cost them a runner in scoring position.
  14. That was a memorable day capping off a memorable weekend. Our second daughter was born on Friday and we brought her home on Sunday. The weather was so nice that when we got home I grilled brats.
  15. This time of year I have sort of an admittedly goofy way to look at the start of the season. I think of the baseball season in terms of a football season (i.e. 10 baseball games = 1 football game). Basically right now we haven’t even quite reached the end of the 1st quarter of the first game if it’s football season. I start to get a little more worried about things once we get through “one football game”. I’m glad you admit that it’s a goofy way to look at it. I don’t think anybody is worried about a 1-1 or 1-2 record. But when your two most valuable hitters are coming off dismal seasons, and then pick up right where they left off striking out in half of their ABs, you have to wonder if this season is going to be more of the same.
  16. I’m more worried about Hiura personally. He might be a negative WAR 1B. I’m equally concerned about both.
  17. The Brewers best, and almost only, offense in this series has been the Twins fielding.
  18. The site I use had Brewers team O/U at 3.5 so I went over. Seems low in general let alone vs a starter they’ve had some success against. Let’s go Sunday lineup!!!! What success have the Brewers had against Pineda? According to Baseball Reference the Brewers have only faced him once and scored 3 runs against him in 6 innings in a no decision.
  19. He looks exactly like 2020. 5 K’s in 9 AB’s. I did a quick scan of his game logs and counted 9 times total in 2018 and 2019 that Yelich had 3 Ks in a game. Last year he had 9 in the short season, and he has one already this year. I was never going to be surprised if 2018 and 2019 end up being the best 2 years of Yelich’s career. But if his norm ends up being closer to 2020 than 2018-19, this franchise is in trouble.
