  1. Would we agree that as a group the Brewers have the slowest average time getting from out of the box to first base? How many times when I watch I see a dribbler that someone might beat out and they’re out by a step and a half.
  2. Unfortunately that removes that dream that the Brewers could win a 2 out of 3 from the Dodgers with great games from Burnes and Woodruff.
  3. They were reminding us in the telecast the other day that in the last 4 seasons the Brewers have only played 1 “meaningless” game, where they had no chance to get into the playoffs or improve their playoff position. If they don’t win at least one today they could have two more meaningless games tomorrow and Sunday.
  4. I’m right there with him. I dozed off around the seventh inning and when I woke up I couldn’t believe this slogfest was still on. 3 1/2 hours with virtually nothing happening.
  5. Short outing and injury from Burnes and Peralta on the paternity list. Hard to see how the Brewers are going to make it through this weekend. The Cubs have given the Cardinals a chance to win the division and they might just take it.
  6. Hey, a run. Good thing that LF has a rag arm.
  7. The end is near. The Brewers really needed a win tonight with a strong outing from Burnes and they aren’t getting either.
  8. He didn't help that inning. But he also didn't come in and walk a lefty lefty matchup on 4 pitches and then give up a bomb to Suarez. But then again if he makes a throw a 10 year old can make there would have been no temptation to bring Claudio in.
  9. Now the Brewers need at least 3 wins against the Cardinals and help to have a chance. Tonight’s game could not have been more predictable given the pitching matchup.
  10. I was out and just caught up to the game on the DVR. Two comments: 1. On last night’s thread when they said that Votto was 0 for his last 30 against the Brewers, I posrted that there was a 95% probability that he would homer in his next AB. I was off by one. 2. The next time I hear that Hiura has improved his defense I’m going to puke.
  11. Just heard LePay say that Votto is 0 for his last 30 against the Brewers. Probability is about 95% that he homers in his nest AB.
  12. Remember when people thought that 25 wins would be enough. Now it’s getting to where 30-30 might not be good enough.
  13. Tonight was the game the Brewers had to have if they wanted to take 2 out of 3 in this series. The pitching matchups the next two nights are pretty unfavorable. At least Gray might be limited coming off the injury.
  14. Did you really think that was a legitimate scoring threat with the 8 and 9 hitters coming up?
  15. At least he has taken some of the spotlight off of how disappointing Garcia has been.
  16. Unfortunately, the injuries to Gamel and Braun limit the options. But, even Mathias would seem to be an improvement.
  17. I was just glancing at some MLB team stats and I saw something that surprised me. Even though they are still below league average, and it’s not by a large margin, the Brewers have the highest average runs per game of the 5 NL Central teams. Of course those 19 and 18 run outbursts help that average.
  18. Woodruff got some luck that inning on some blue darters.
  19. With respect to those odds I suspect that the Brewers are ahead of the Reds because the Reds play the Twins. But are the Twins going to have much motivation next weekend if their playoff position is locked in. I would pick the Reds as the favorite to get the 2nd spot in the central. They don’t have to play 8 games this week like the Brewers and Cardinals do. It’s looking now like just finishing .500 might not be good enough. It might take 2 of 3 against the Reds and 3 of 5 against the Cardinals.
  20. Why would you worry about that? If the two choices are (1) winning the World Series this year (as unlikely as that is), or (2) never winning the World Series in your lifetime (which in my case is about a 99% probability, which would you take? It’s not as if winning this year would preclude or make it less likely that they could win some other time.
