  1. Was there any reason to expect Nottingham to hit this well? He looks like he knows what he’s doing.
  2. Is it just me or does Taylor look a little bit like Yelich? Not exactly a doppelgänger, but they have some physical similarities.
  3. It’s gone. If you count on help from teams like the Pirates you’re likely to be disappointed. Be thankful that they’ve already won 4 from the Cardinals this year.
  4. It really seems that, especially this year, there are 5 excellent teams, 5 terrible teams, and roughly 20 mediocre teams. It's a bummer being on the mediocre pile. I don’t think being in the mediocre pile is necessarily so bad, but being near the bottom of the mediocre pile is.
  5. Winning 3 in this series was pretty much the requirement to keep the Brewers from falling into a really tough position. They could really use a sweep over the Royals (have they swept anybody this season?) to set up the final week against the Reds and Cardinals. I think they have to get to 30-30 to have a good chance to get a playoff spot. Less than that is going to require help from some teams that may not be motivated.
  6. Why not bring Hader in even with the big lead? He hasn’t pitched that many innings and, if they need him on Friday, he may be better off not having 3 full days off. If they don’t need him Friday he will just be that much rustier when they do need him.
  7. One issue with Braun will be whether or not he wants to keep playing, and how much it would take to keep him from staying home with the family. $11 million is too much IMHO for someone who has to have so much time off and might only be able to be a DH. But, he’s still too good a hitter to not have value to somebody. He would seem like a good candidate for an incentive laden contract if he’s willing to consider that.
  8. The lineup above has Hiura and Vogelbach reversed. I hope they didn’t bat out of order.
  9. That was the at bat I was looking for in the first game, but they couldn’t get him a shot.
  10. Couldn’t even get the tying run to the plate as the Brewers fall to 11th in the NL.
  11. He wasn’t horrible, but Woodruff’s outing tonight was a major fail.
  12. Hiura can’t make a 30 foot throw, but his defense is supposedly much improved.
  13. I suspect that if the Brewers are going to score again to get back in this game, Braun will be involved.
  14. When the Brewers got the two runs in the first I was hoping that (1) Woodruff would have a strong performance against a team that has had trouble scoring and/or (2) the Brewers would add on a few runs. Doesn’t look like either of those is happening.
  15. Peterson can be removed from the roster any time now.
  16. I’ll say about this game the same thing I said about Monday’s second game after Williams, Hader, and Peralta appeared in the first game. The Brewers need 7 solid innings from Woodruff to save the bullpen for the second game.
  17. Since the 19 run game the Brewers have scored 7 runs on 20 hits in 5 games, and 2 of those runs were courtesy of the gift runner at second.
  18. Since the 19 run game the Brewers have scored 7 runs on 20 hits in 5 games, and 2 of those runs were courtesy of the gift runner at second.
  19. Since the 19 run game the Brewers have scored 7 runs on 20 hits in 5 games, and 2 of those runs were courtesy of the gift runner at second.
  20. Bunting with a bad bunter and a slow runner on second is a low percentage move.
