  1. I hope they can keep Gamel in the game so he can be the runner in the 8th instead of Narvaez.
  2. I don’t like putting an erratic pitcher in a position to walk in a run.
  3. Hard to have a sense of urgency with a team that can’t score runs no matter what you do.
  4. This is a big reason why I was concerned about this series. The Brewers don’t have the pitching quality or depth to cover 5 games (even shortened games) in 3 days, and they don’t have the hitting to take advantage of the opponent’s back end pitchers.
  5. Really?!?! That’s ... not how it works. It’s not unheard of for guys to pitch in both games of a DH, but they both also pitched on Friday and Saturday, so this makes it 3 games in 4 days. I assumed they wouldn’t be used in game 2.
  6. He put himself in that position. 100 pitches in less than 5 innings and you’re not going to get the best out of the bullpen to clean up for you.
  7. A much needed win after using the top guys in the bullpen. Now need Burnes to go 7.
  8. I still think we’re going to find out after the season is over that the right knee bothers him when he tries to stride into a pitch. A lot of times he seems to favor it after he swings.
  9. I think we will be marking last night as the last time that the Brewers had a serious shot at making the playoffs. All of these games against the Cardinals with an anemic offense should end all doubt.
  10. I think it’s pretty apparent that it isn’t going to happen for him this season. I benched him on my fantasy team a couple of weeks ago. I’m going to hold out hope that his problem this year is related to his knee and the dysfunctional offseason and that next year he will return to being a great hitter, even if it isn’t quite as good as 18 and 19.
  11. I said this last week, but Counsell didn’t listen: Don’t Use Hader on Saturday! This is three disasters in a row.
  12. Oh, it no doubt sucks, but this might be a smidge premature Maybe, but even before this you had to wonder how the Brewers were going to navigate all of those doubleheaders. With no offense more often than not, the pitching has to be almost perfect, and they don’t have the quality or depth for that.
  13. Hendricks is historically a lot better at home than away. Maybe that will play out again tonight.
  14. Some serious stat padding going on now. This is comical, but at least nice to be on the other side of one of these.
  15. Understatement of the day from Schroeder: “This one’s getting out of hand”.
  16. Gee Rock. We can see why Urias didn’t throw to second, but no reason not to just run at the runner between him and the bag or go back to third and get the force there. Handed them runners on second and third when it should have been first and second.
  17. Figured it would be a tough play going across his body. Obviously happy it took a hop to make it a really tough play. With all of the shifts, when he first hit that ball on the ground I expected that when they flipped the camera angle there would be a fielder standing on the bag ready to turn the easiest DP imaginable.

  19. They aren’t good, but they have two issues which are not completely unrelated: 1. Fewer baserunners and overall scoring opportunities, and 2. Below average ability to cash in on those opportunities. Both are a result of being a generally poor hitting team. The high number of strikeouts affects both of those things.

  21. I seriously wonder if the knee injury hasnt set him back. I've seen videos comparing his swings from last year to this year and it is different. Mlre straight up, less hand wiggle, and doesn't get as deep in his bend when loading to hit. What I’ve been noticing is that he often seems to be a little off balance after he swings, and turns his leg as if he’s a little uncomfortable landing on it. I have to believe that his troubles this year are related to that injury and the disjointed training periods.
