That whole bottom 5 is a joke except that Urias is a legitimate low part of the order hitter. But Arcia batting 5th and Peterson, Taylor, and Nottingham anywhere isn’t going to get you much against anyone, much less one of the league’s top pitchers.
Big mistake. Even if the runner on third had broken for the plate and scored they’d basically be out of the inning with one run. Now the big inning is still in order.
I don’t know what lasting effects from that injury would completely derail a career. Has there been instances where guys never bounced back from that? They haven’t said anything about it, but it was pretty apparent that he wasn’t 100% in spring training because he didn’t start appearing in games right away. Then whatever plan he had to get ready for the season was thrown out the window. Then 4 months before the summer camp and he was completely out of whack. I’m going to tell myself that with a full offseason of work without having to rehab the injury and then (hopefully) a normal spring training and he will be back in form next season.
That’s the second time today I’ve seen a player strike out on a pitch that hit him in the foot. Someone on the Cardinals did it to end their 6 run first inning against the Reds.
that's why we post those in blue, I have been on this board too long and it is plausible that some would actually want to see if he get some miller park magic back. I guess I don’t post here enough to know the protocol. I think Santana could be the spark that propels the Crew to the World Series
A significant part of my disappointment with Woodruff has been his inability to get deeper into games. I want my best starter to go more than 5 innings, and he hasn’t been able to do that often enough. Going deep into a game is essentially an impossible task when Craig Counsell is your manager. Maybe it’s because of the disjointed training leading to the season, but last year Woodruff had a stretch of 12 games in which he went 6 or more innings in 11 of them and went 7 or 8 several times. He isn’t coming close to that now.
