  1. A significant part of my disappointment with Woodruff has been his inability to get deeper into games. I want my best starter to go more than 5 innings, and he hasn’t been able to do that often enough.
  2. It wasn’t even close, clearly out before run scored. I posted that based on the first pictures they showed. The view from behind home plate was not clear, but if the split pictures were synced it was a horrible call by the replay ump. I can see how that would be a tough call for the home plate ump because he couldn’t see when the tag was made through the runner’s back.
  3. It's super clear in synced multi view. That's BS. If those last shots they showed were really synced, I agree.
  4. This is looking like one that will be too close to overturn. Really hard to tell exactly when the tag was made relative to the foot hitting the plate.
  5. Looks like it’s time to pump the brakes on the idea that Woodruff is an ace.
  6. Last night's heroics aside, Sogard should barely see time against righties, let alone lefties. Oh I totally agree. I just think it’s funny and sad at the same time that if you hit a home run (or two!), that you will find yourself on the bench the next day. For Yelich it was the other way around. Maybe that’s the real secret. Day off, return to hit HR, repeat and recycle.
  7. Ironic that he passed away on Jackie Robinson Day. 42 is IMHO one of the best true story baseball movies ever done.
  8. Braun’s HR changed the entire feel of the game. Instead of a demoralizing failure to score after having runners on second and third with nobody out, suddenly it’s 4-0 and Burnes has a cushion and the rest of the offense loosens up.
  9. Well, for starters, not all teams have played the same number of games. Two of the three teams that have scored fewer runs have also played fewer games. In terms of runs scored per game the Brewers are 29th, ahead of only the Rangers, who have also played 30 games and scored 4 fewer runs. Two of the teams behind the Brewers in runs scored are the Cardinals, who have played only 22 games, and the Pirates, who have played 28 games and have just one run less than the Brewers. Based on how the Pirates seem to know what Brewers pitchers are throwing, they should be well ahead of the Brewers after this four game series.
  10. I know this offense has sucked for most of the season, but it's a 2-run deficit. That is a tad hyperbolic. Maybe just a tad, but not much more than that.
  11. After this game the Reds and Brewers will be tied again. Looking at the two lineups and the pitching rotations, and even considering the Reds bullpen problems, I think the Reds are a far superior team and, if this were a full season, I don’t see how the Brewers would stay close to them. Their offense has been bad, but they sure have a lot more upside potential than the Brewers sad collection of journeymen.
  12. Another game out of reach in the second inning.
  13. The Brewers should consider sitting out the second game.
  14. I don’t think it is. The first game I ever attended at Miller Park was postponed after one inning because of a power failure and I’m pretty sure they played two the next day.
  15. Nobody is giving up a king’s ransom this year.
  16. Brewers have gotten a couple of huge breaks in this game. Need to take advantage
  17. I appreciate the challenge of calling a game from a remote location, but it’s better to wait a second to see what’s happening before bringing out the grand slam home run voice. When I first saw that I thought Garcia got jammed and hit a lazy fly ball. For a fraction of a second I thought maybe I had misjudged it.
  18. In this series the Pirates have had 10 innings with runs and only 8 zeroes. The Brewers are just 2 runs away from the worst run differential in the NL.
  19. 2 batters and playing from behind already. Looks like double figures again for the Bucs.
