  1. Not even close. Only applicable by rule, with two runners on, either 1st and 2nd or bases loaded. Yeah, that wouldn’t have been a liberal use, it would have been a clearly incorrect use.
  2. With Yelich on first, Hiura hit a weak looping pop up to the second baseman. Because Hiura didn’t run, the fielder let the ball drop and threw to second to start a DP. Hiura would be on the bench now on my team.
  3. I don’t remember spring training, but Arcia “hitting out of the gates” this season consisted of getting the Brewers only 3 hits in the opener and then not much else. Take out that first game and going into today he was hitting .205/.262/..256/.518. Maybe he didn’t look so bad because so many others in the lineup were as bad or worse. He’s had good stretches before (like the 2018 NLCS) where it looked like he was maturing, but they proved to be false alarms. Maybe this year will be the real thing.
  4. Very sweet to throw some cold water on the Cubs joy ride. Still can’t believe Hader’s brain fart that almost let Baez reach. Maybe having Arcia watch Urias hit the ball where it’s pitched will help Arcia do the same thing.
  5. Not a fan of trying to steal with Yelich at the plate. Make it and you invite the opponent to pitch around him.
  6. Early inning futility continues. Not only do the Brewers rarely score early, they hardly ever seem to get anyone on base.
  7. Ho hum. Playing from behind again. A pitcher who nibbles against hitters who will work the count isn’t a good match.
  8. Looks like it will be a bullpen game for the Brewers too. And after last night it figures to be the bottom of the bullpen barrel. Get Gyorko ready.
  9. Playing from behind again. The Brewers have scored a grand total of 2 runs in the first inning, 2 runs in the second , 5 runs in the third, and 3 runs in the fourth. Not going to win very often that way. To put this in perspective, the Cardinals, after not playing for two weeks, scored as many in their first inning back as the Brewers have scored in their 37 first and second innings.
  10. This is a golden opportunity for the Brewers to escape this series with a split. The bullpen is the Cubs’ biggest weakness and it looks like a bullpen game for them today.
  11. This AB by Kipnis pretty much insures that Woodruff won’t see the seventh inning. And that the Brewers won’t win.
  12. I just looked this up because I was curious to see how badly the Brewers have been outscored in the early innings. Incredibly, in the first 4 innings they are being outscored 43-12.
  13. David Stearns is a pretty shrewd guy. Not many players are able to get David Stearns to drastically overpay for your services. Eric Sogard has managed to do it twice. Haha. I wonder how much the different ball helped some of these guys year. Obviously Sogard had a solid year. Did the ball make a difference? Is the hitting coach changing something? I mean, these guys looked awful. Does the ball now turn invisible halfway to the plate?
