  1. Even though it worked out last night i did not like the move last night. With Chourio hitting well, and possessing much more power potential than Frelick I would have let him hit. In a situation against a very tough righty where just putting the ball in play is important I might make that move, but not there.
  2. I wonder if some of the posters.who tagged this as an easy series against a bad team are seeing why some of us are wary about it We’ve seen this movie in this park before.
  3. This week is going to be the supreme test of the Brewers pitching depth.
  4. Maybe, maybe not. You never know if they pitch differently with a runner on first and one out as opposed to nobody on with 2 outs.
  5. I think he said “first knock as a Brewer”.
  6. The Rockies should fear Rob Zastrysny He’s sure to shut them down isn’ee.
  7. It’s four games. Shooting for a sweep is fine, but after what happened there last year (when they were also not good) I would start with winning one and going from there.
  8. We had a fairly lengthy discussion about this in a thread earlier this month. There’s no objective definition of this, but I set the piling on point higher than 6. Even if 4 is the point where the winning percentage gets close to 50%,a few additional runs can significantly increase the winning percentage. They also can provide some cushion that allows the team to avoid using its top line relievers. But when you get up to 9 or 10 that’s usually more often than needed for a comfortable win and additional runs from there can pad the statistics without helping the win percentage. By having more games of scoring 5 or 6 runs and fewer of 10 or more and 3 or less, the Brewers have been able to maintain a winning pace while slipping in MLB scoring ranks.
  9. Coming into today, the Brewers were 11th of the 14 NL teams in runs scored in June averaging exactly 4 runs per game. That is below average. The pitching and defense have been largely responsible for the winning month. One thing the Brewers have not had lately is the big scoring games that skew the numbers. Today is the first time in 20 games that they have scored as many as 7, so they haven’t had as many “piling on” runs as they had earlier in the season.
  10. Let’s not get carried away. Im thrilled with what he’s doing but it’s not MVP level. Maybe Brewers MVP but not league.
  11. Hendricks the Hypnotist has the Brewers baffled again. It’s amazing that the Brewers have won 15 games this month with as pitiful as the offense has been.
  12. Don’t call him Bad Freddy anymore. Just Normal Freddy describes it. Hopefully Hendrickks won’t mesmerize the Brewers bats as he often does.
  13. Because there is no IP minimum I was wondering if they would take Bauers based on his one scoreless inning even though it isn’t a full season yet. They did take it and I also took advantage of the no AB minimum to get Toro for his over .300 last year So my Brewers were Jim Colborn (0.4), Bauers (.04) and Toro (.07). I was then able to use my knowledge of players from 50 years ago and more to get a total rarity score of 10 without doing a lot of thinking
  14. If he’s DH you’d still have to have Haase in the batting order instead of Hoskins or Bauers. For this game I like Bauers at 1B and Hoskins at DH. Let Contreras be DH tomorrow or Tuesday, or give him a true day off.
  15. I suspect Contreras will get a day off (at least from catching) against the Rockies. A rubber game against the hated Cubs is not the time for a day off.
  16. When I hear a pitcher is having imaging on an arm I prepare for the worst.
  17. And the second pitch might have been a strike and might have been a swing.
  18. That was Happ’s 12th career HR against the Brewers. He’s hit 30 against the Reds, 25 against the Cardinals, and 18 against the Pirates. His OPS against the Breeers coming into today was .763 and against the other division teams they range from around .950 to a little over 1.000. So, relatively speaking the Brewers have held him in check..
