  1. I like home runs and doubles with men on base even more.
  2. Having Contreras and Hoskins 1 and 2 is kind of odd to me instead of having someone with more speed (Frelick or Perkins or Turang or Ortiz) at the top with the others in position to advance them or drive them in. If Burnes is on he could really pile up the Ks with Hoskins, Sanchez, and Wiemer to feast on for starters.
  3. Kind of a sacrificial lamb Sunday lineup today to face Burnes. Chourio does look like he needs a day off and with Yelich out and not wanting to have Contreras catch again there might not be many options. I hope Hoskins can help more with the bat than he gives up in the field.
  4. The Brewers offense has been great since the game we went to last Saturday when they had like 2 hits in 7 innings.
  5. At least this Hoskins DP didn’t come with a man on third.
  6. A couple of weeks before that game I looked at the schedule and saw that the Brewers had a long road trip after. I thought Yount might be reaching 3000 about then and if he didn’t he’d probably get it on the road trip. I worked for a banking organization that had about 40 season tickets that they let employees request if they weren’t being used by anyone to entertain customers. So, I put in for 4 and got some box seats not far behind the Brewers dugout. About a week before it didn’t look he’d be getting to 3000 by then, but he suddenly got 7 hits in 4 days and was only 3 away going into a Labor Day game against the Indians. So, I went to that game where he got 2998, then again the next night where he got 2999 in the first inning, but went hitless the rest of the game. So I went to the next game with 3 work colleagues and,, after a rain delay and two hitless ABs, we had great seats for the big moment. And it wasn’t long before that (maybe the year before) that we saw Nolan Ryan get his 300th win against the Brewers.
  7. Compared to a good, much less championship caliber, teams the Brewers lineup is sad to me. You can choose a different word if you want.. One 12 run game that includes a couple,of runs off a position player and a lot of advanced stats showing that the Brewers offense is close to average won’t change my opinion. Let’s see some more games and see how things unfold.
  8. Good job by Contreras getting to third on that.
  9. Bauers is not a “kid” by baseball standards. He’s a 28 year old journeyman.
  10. Frelick needs a timeout. That was a lazy error.
  11. All of those individual numbers haven’t added up to much run scoring.
  12. First game on the 10 Pack tonight. The Brewers lineup is sad At least got to see Chourio hit one.
  13. Does a 26 year old major leaguer qualify as a kid?
  14. Exactly. Though the 4-1 start is great, the games showed how difficult it would be to win consistently when there are no off days for 15-20 days, the starting pitchers are only covering 5 innings (or less), and the offense only scores 3 runs. The strain on the bullpen trying to protect small leads would be unsustainable. Tomorrow starts a stretch of 41 scheduled games in 43 days. For the team to be successful in that stretch the offense is going to have to carry more of the load than it has in the first five games.
  15. That’s a little harsh. Those were both tough calls at full speed.
  16. Hoskins ratio now 3:2. Just have to keep runners off first when he hits.
  17. This is a rough challenge. Maybe too close to change.
  18. Obviously too early to draw conclusions about anything, but being OK relative to the Mets is not a lofty goal. They could be really awful, like they were last year.
  19. I was simply reacting to the fact that in 4 games plus one inning, Hoskins has hit into 3 DPs, two with the bases loaded and one with runners on first and third. All frustrating rally killers. I also recognize that he drove in 4 runs on Saturday and will likely not be hitting into 3 DPs for every HR.
  20. Good grief, lighten up. Several posters simultaneously make offhanded comments about Hopkins hitting into another DP, and of course you choose to jump on mine.
