Good win, prayers tonight for Stanton, hopefully good news and a short recovery.

Video on ESPN. The still shot that is up before the video plays shows Stanton laying on the stretcher and I can't see a cut on his face. Looks like the blood was from his nose.

Looked to me like it hit on his cheek, just to the side of his nose. If it caused a cut on his cheek, facial cuts would bleed that much as well. You have to worry about both guys mentally going forward. Stanton won't feel to easy stepping into the box again.

All this and technically no hbp.... Hopefully this doesn't affect Fiers going forward more than tonight. Could be a tough thing to get past mentally.

This is terrible, he should not have had to go back on that mound... Clearly could see he was shaken.

There is so much blood in the batters box they are having to scoop dirt out. Fiers looks very shaken... I would consider bullpen right now.

Looked like it hit just on the side of his nose. Pray that it didn't cause damage to the eye, that could be his career.

Agreed, didn't this kind of start with the Johnny Damon era Red Sox? If they did it to mock the Yankees I'm all for it then, but it has run its course.

Reading all of the Segura posts... Can you imagine the discussion if he was extended last year when there was talk about it. I don't think they ever were close, but there had to be some discussion for it to leak out publicly. How bad would this year look if he had signed an extension. I haven't given up on him, I think he will hit for average next year, never going to be a power threat though...

Pirates should have used RRR 100 pitch rule, sent Cole back out to start the 7th with 104 pitches, long story short, game now tied 2-2

I really dislike Gerrit Cole, but pretty happy with his performance tonight. High pitch count though, bullpen probably going to have to finish from here.

Wainwright has given up 5 runs, still in the 3rd... Kendrick has been equally bad for the Phillies though.

AMEN! I'm pumped. Weekend's starting... Packers playing their final preseason game (with Wood coming home to Lambeau!)... & playoff race baseball! Only the 3rd preseason game, one more left. You would know that if the Brewers were terrible.
