  1. If Monasterio has options, might as well. He had a nice spring and perhaps this is better for him than being the last person on the bench.
  2. I appreciate PCA is much younger than Blake Perkins but he seems like Perkins to me.
  3. Cubs drop game two. 15 base runners and only three runs. Not a lot of bright spots against a Dodger lineup that was without Betts and Freeman. I guess the Cub bullpen only allowed one run over 5 IP today. Cubs travel to Arizona for four game series next week.
  4. I don’t see any bright spots for Canha in 2024 or this spring. I’d rather go with someone less proven than 36 year old Canha.
  5. If Keston would have played more against RHP, I know we would have made the playoffs in 2022.
  6. I’m fine with Elvin Rodriguez. The wind was pretty gusty today and there was a lot of soft contact. He has been throwing strikes, too.
  7. .876 OPS this spring .761 OPS last spring as a team .782 in 2023 .741 in 2022 is there something different about the baseball this season? The 110 point bump in team OPS seems significant.
  8. I cannot remember another spring training where nearly every starting position player has an OPS above 1000 seemingly. Milwaukee leads all of baseball with a .876 team OPS in spring training
  9. The Cubs have a brutal opening month of the season. They could be meaningfully below .500 entering May. Even the A’s series could be tough. After tomorrow’s game in Japan against the Dodgers: Four against the Diamondbacks in Arizona Three against the A’s in Sacramento Three against the Padres at home Three against Rangers at home Three against the Dodgers in Los Angeles Three against the Padres in San Diego Three against the Diamondbacks in Chicago Two against the Dodgers in Chicago Three against the Phillies in Chicago
  10. Once and for all: Up or down on Keston Hiura
  11. Nico Hoerner’s injury seems important. Also, Cubs bullpen wasting no time blowing leads and allowing baserunners.
  12. …As Cubs bullpen immediately surrenders lead.
  13. Cubs take 1-0 lead against Dodgers. Counsell goes to bullpen after 4 innings of zero hits from Imanaga. Four walks allowed though.. After a stomach bug (Betts) and rib soreness (Freeman), the Dodgers lineup doesn’t seem too tough.
  14. Turang would have more opportunities to prevent runs at SS than 2B.
  15. Gallo says he will attempt a comeback as a pitcher.
  16. *Tyler Alexander
  17. Does Yelich know he is expected to be the primary DH? I’ve only ever seen stories saying Christian prefers playing in the field.
  18. I’m willing to bet our pitching lab does a good job minimizing elbow and shoulder strain but at the expense of obliques.
  19. The Brewers have won six straight spring training games. Even though it is inconsequential, it does feel good seeing the hitting and run prevention performing well last week. .
  20. Oblique injuries seem common to all teams. There is a lot of rotational force for hitting and pitching. Players strength train their legs to a much higher level than ever before and it seems that abdominal/core/oblique muscles have a hard time keeping up with the force being generated by legs. I am not a doctor, though. Quick search of current oblique injuries from this week: Matt Waldron (SDP) link Sean Manaea (NYM) link Jeff McNeil (NYM) link Tyler Stephenson (CIN) link Jesus Sanchez (MIA) link Why are oblique strains so common? Link
  21. What is our rotation now? Peralta Cortes Civale E. Rodriguez? Bullpen game? I understand Quintana might not be ready until April.
  22. The cap designs look like they were produced by AI.
  23. We are at least a few years away from AI being able to produce this level of brilliance.
  24. Our hard hit rates and EV allowed by Milwaukee pitchers last year was pretty average from what I can tell.
