  1. Now that's a pitching line: 3IP, 0 hits, 0 BB, 8 K Wow. What can anyone tell us about Carlos Luna? Looks like he's already 24 years old, so not a real young guy for High A ball. But, is this someone that has a big arm that might be able to be at least a bullpen arm down the road?
  2. Sorry - but giving this a self-bump. I'm not sure if I've missed discussion about Hedbert in another thread, but does anyone know when we might see him up with one of the affiliates this summer? Or, is the plan to keep him down in AZ this year?
  3. MLB Pipeline's latest mock has us taking Colton Cowser, OF from Sam Houston. Anyone have any thoughts/insight on this college bat? Is there enough upside still in his bat?
  4. So, what do we know about this 17-year old lottery ticket arm that we just picked up for McKinney? Is this a guy that is worthy of keeping an eye on, or is he literally just a throw-in to get a deal done?
  5. Can someone refresh my memory on the Hedbert Perez situation? Was he held back in AZ because of a spring injury, or are they just keeping him down there because they don't think he's quite ready for A ball yet? Just seems odd that they wouldn't think he's ready for that level after having him up at the alternate training site last summer - where he supposedly had some good success.
  6. Yeah, I think I'll start to be more concerned about this injury if we don't see him in the T Rats lineup tonight. Seemed like a precautionary situation at first, but starting to approach 2 weeks here.
  7. I'm sure the argument is always that you take the "best player available" at every pick, but I would tend to agree with your suggestion of staying away from C's in this draft - at least with the first 4-5 picks. Seems like we have a pretty good pipeline already in our system of catchers at every level, and there are just much more pressing needs right now at other positions in our farm system.
  8. Can't disagree with you here. As Brewer fans, we've all been waiting our entire lives for a situation like this where we have 2-3 TOR starters. Have to take advantage of this time. It's going to be interesting to see what position we are in to do something this summer, especially considering the fact that our farm system is not real strong right now for trade value.
  9. Absolutely a great day to have minor league baseball back tonight! I of course wish we had a few more top prospects in our system to follow, but hopefully this is a big year for some of the younger guys, and they start to emerge.
  10. What do we make of 18 year old Jhonnys Cabrera starting the year at AA? Is this kid a legit prospect, or more of a situation where we just don't have enough catching at the upper levels of our system right now? Just seems odd that they'd send an 18 year old kid up there if he wasn't ready. Unless if this is a short term move and they are just waiting for someone else to get healthy. And, is it just me or does it seem like Braden Webb has been in the organization about 8 years by now. The year off last year is probably just exaggerating my feelings with him though.
  11. Ha. Not sure why, but this post made me belly laugh!
  12. PLEASE send Yardley down and not Weigel. I know we haven't seen enough of Weigel yet to really form an opinion yet, but I feel like he at least deserves some more chances after looking pretty solid in his debut with us yesterday. Yardley has been hot garbage since the start of ST this year.
  13. I've mentioned this before in this thread, but I sure wish we were getting more of these coming from Minors camp, but the one's we are getting are at least encouraging. Would love to see some of these young international guys break out this year, after really not seeing them in action for what - 19-20 months or so?
  14. What does everyone think of the Khalil Watson prediction for the Crew in this Mock? Seems like a short and skinny SS prospect, and not sure if I really see him as being one that our FO would draft in the 1st round. I know we took Turang as a HS SS 2-3 years ago, but he was also a kid that dropped significantly in the 1st round, and was probably hard for us to pass up drafting in the late first round that year. Any time you can get a Top 10 value in the late 20's, I think you have to take a kid like that. Not sure if I see us doing the same here with Watson at 14?
  15. I agree with you. In listening to the MLB Pipeline podcast yesterday, he was actually a guy that really piqued my interest after hearing Callis/Mayo talk about him. Like you said - we've definitely gone more of the college route in recent years, but Ford would be a really intriguing pick at 15 given everything that you already pointed out.
  16. I see that the Brewers PD Twitter account just sent out a video of Joe Gray hitting an oppo Grand Slam on Monday. Nice to see, but I wish they could send out more of these little video snippets from these games.
  17. Nevermind on Binelas. I just listened to the latest MLP Pipeline podcast where Callis and Mayo talk about their latest picks in the Top 20. They ended up talking about Bilelas at the very end of their discussion, and it sounds like he's moved from 3B to 1B now after really struggling at 3B. Sounds like he's not doing much better at 1B now either, so clearly not a good defensive player. He also got off to a really bad start this year, although the power has come back in recent weeks. They both seemed to think that he may have fallen all the way down to a 3rd round pick - 2nd round at best. So, maybe we'll get the opportunity to draft him with one of those picks if we do still like the bat?
  18. Binelas was hyped early on, and now has his average up to .259 with 10 HRs after starting the season ice cold. I would hope he'd be a consideration for the Brewers if he's there at #15. He's a LHH power bat and slick-fielding 3B that should be able to make a quick ascent to the majors. Yeah, was thinking the same thing. Seems like he would be a perfect fit for the Brewers at 15 if he falls there. We all know how badly we need 3B in our system, and this was a guy who was considered a Top 10 type pick before the season started. Doesn't hurt that he's a WI kid to boot. Would love to see him fall to us.
  19. I see that Mayo/Callis just released a new article today where they rotate picks for the first 20: https://www.mlb.com/news/pipeline-podcast-makes-top-20-draft-picks?t=mlb-draft-coverage. Looks like they have us selecting C: del Castillo out of Miami. Would be back to back years taking a U of Miami kid in 1st round if this played out. Curious what everyone's thoughts are on this kid? Also, I see that they have the WI kid Binelas (Louisville) dropping out of the Top 20 now. Anyone know why his stock has fallen so much this year? Just other guys moving up over him, or is he having a down year?
  20. Man...you aren't kidding! It seems like Taylor has been in in the Brewers organization for 10+ years now. He was that top prospect when the system was terrible (well, the first time the system was terrible in the past decade), and that seems like it was ages ago now. Hard to believe that he's still fighting for a MLB spot, but you have to give the kid credit. Would love to see us give the kid a start or two here this week before we hopefully get Yeli back. The problem for TT though is that you also have a guy like McKinney that is deserving of some starts right now in the OF.
  21. I'll say it again, but I really wish the Brewers PD Twitter account would at least tweet out some of the results from these games. I know they've done that in past springs, so not sure why they aren't doing it yet this spring? Is there a reason to keep all of this secretive?
  22. What happened to this? Have games actually been played up in Appleton yet in front of fans? I thought those were supposed to start a week ago or something, but haven't heard any reports.
  23. Wow....so are these lineups today a pretty good indication of where guys will be starting this season? If so, Hedbert with Biloxi right out of the gates is a bit surprising, no? I would have thought he would have started at Wisconsin. And looks like that's where they plan to start Mitchell, which is about what I expected. What other placements do people find interesting with these lineups?
  24. Well, unfortunately no updates yesterday or last night from the opening game yesterday. That's a bit disappointing. Was hoping we'd at least get some tweets from the Brewers PD account last night. Maybe they'll tweet those out the day after? I guess we can hope.
  25. Also, do we know what time of day that they'll be playing these minor league ST games? I guess I'm hoping that the Brewers PD twitter account does a good job of tweeting out updates during these games. Would be fun to follow along to how the prospects are doing down there.
