  1. What are the other options right now - if they don't partner with Sinclair again? Could they realistically start their own network and then negotiate individually with all of the different TV or streaming services? I know the Cubs have their own network now, but isn't that network actually owned by Sinclair as well? Just curious what other options may exist? I really hope the Brewers get creative here, and realize how terrible the current situation is with Sinclair. Ratings are going to be at an all-time low if Sinclair can't work out these negotiations with the streaming services before this upcoming season starts.
  2. Yeah, I think that's where I'm at right now too. It sucks, because I love watching Brewers games, and it's not like there will be that many on national TV (at least the Bucks have a lot of games on TNT and ESPN). But, I'm just not going to be willing to make the switch back over to Dish Network or Spectrum. I just hope that someone steps up to figure something out, to get these games accessible for the millions of people who have moved onto the streaming platforms.
  3. So, now that we are officially in P's and C's reporting week here, I'm curious to know what some of you that are using one of the streaming services for your TV (that live here in WI) plan to do for Brewers game viewing this season? We can't do the MLBTV package, right? Because the games are just going to be blacked out for those of us living in the "home" viewing area. Do we know of any other options right now? I really wish that FS WI would be able to create their own streaming program. I'd gladly pay for a monthly fee for that if it allowed me to get Brewers games. Just curious if anyone knows of any "work-arounds" here to keep my streaming TV service and to also get Brewers games this year? I've got ZERO interest in going back to satellite TV or to ATT.
  4. Anyone else surprised that Marwin only got 3M? I know he struggled last year (who didn't?), but I guess I would have expected him to sign for a 2-3 year deal in the 6-8M AAV range?
  5. Duh....yeah, that's probably what I was thinking of.
  6. Sborz is a potential solid, and cheap, pen piece. He'll have interest if he gets to the waiver wire. Oh, I'm sure he will. I was just hoping that the Dodgers might make a trade of some kind to free up the 40 man spot. And, for some reason I guess I was thinking that they had to free up two spots - but I guess it was just the one.
  7. And, there it is - Josh Sborz gets cut to make room for Bauer. Well, that was anti-climactic - wasn't it.
  8. OK - good to know. We should at least start to see some of the dominoes fall then today in regards to the Dodgers roster situation. Do they have a trade in the works to clear up 1-2 spots, or are they simply going to cut someone from the 40 man?
  9. I see a report that the Dodgers are planning to make the Bauer signing official today. Does that mean he has to be added to the 40 man roster immediately, or will they still have more time in the coming days to figure out that logjam situation?
  10. How long do the Dodgers get to clear their 40 man roster for Bauer? Has that deal not gone "official" yet, or can the Dodgers just hold off on making it official until they can figure out a way to make room for him?
  11. I agree that it doesn't seem likely at all that we'd want to pay 32M on Price - but what if we get the Dodgers to pay at least 12M of that, which would knock it down to about 10M per year that we would then owe Price? Brewers get: Price Rios 12M Dodgers get: Zack Brown Jesus Parra (or some other teenage lottery ticket) Yeah? No?
  12. Hmmm....this is actually somewhat intriguing. It would help us solve our need for a LHP in the rotation, as well as our need for a 3B. Like you said - I don't know how well Rios can play 3B, but if he can be adequate there - the bat should play, right? I'd almost think that we'd need to have the Dodgers kick in a little $$ though for Price. I know that would then involve us upping the prospects going back to them, but I'm guessing we wouldn't have to give up any of our top 8-10 prospects in this type of a deal. This would help the Dodgers create more space in their 40 man, and also then give them the extra cash to go out and re-sign JT if they want to go that route. Does Price have a no-trade clause?
  13. The Dodgers haven't even made a roster move yet to announce the Bauer signing. They are at the point where they are going to have to drop good, talented players who are on their 40-man in order to fit in any new acquisitions. It makes me think that they are perhaps working on a trade to alleviate the logjam. I'm guessing it will be two players on their 40-man for non 40-man players, which would free up space for Bauer and Turner. I would imagine the Dodgers are looking to trade David Price (who opted out last year), with Bauer, Kershaw, Buehler, May and Urias there isn't a reason to bump one of them from the rotation for David Price. Price's contract calls for 16 million per season in 2021 and 2022 (Red Sox picking up other half of his 32 million/Season contract). I would imagine the Dodgers are attempting to trade him and in order to move 32 million dollars in contract commitments may have to include some of the lower end players on the 40 man like Luke Raley, etc. Brewers get: SP David Price 3B Edwin Rios Dodgers get: PTBNL Thoughts? Not sure I would do that actually, as just based on reading things I'm not convinced Rios can stick at 3B. Certainly wouldn't mind having Price though. 14. I understand the interest in Davis and Smith - due to their potential and bats. But, where would we play either of those guys - now that we are moving Hiura to 1B? I think we'd be better off just ponying up the money to sign Turner on a 2 year deal, and save whatever prospects we'd have to haul off to the Mets to get one of those guys that wouldn't really fit that well with our needs at this moment.
  15. Very interesting that Rosenthal specifically mentions Mark A in his tweet. So, cleary this is the player (or one of the players) that Mark A met or talked to directly about coming to Milwaukee. I think we all assumed that to be true, but I think this validates it even more - which means that we are pretty serious about trying to get a deal done with him.
  16. Yep - I think this is exactly the situation we are in with Turner. We're talking about a guy who is 36 years old and potentially looking at cashing in on his final big league contract. He's seen his career blossom in LA, and now he has to decide if it is really worth leaving that comfortable spot to move onto another team for his final 2-3 years of his career. Not to mention - does he have a family? If he does - I'm sure they aren't going to be thrilled about being uprooted, and let's face it - for most people LA and southern Cal is a much more desirable living spot than Milwaukee. So, I'm sure there is so much that is going into this decision for Turner - and that's assuming of course that we're even a legitimate candidate with our current offer on the table?
  17. I think I would have preferred that we bring back a guy like Shelby Miller instead of taking a flyer on Jordan Zimmerman. At least Shelby is younger and we'd already invested a lot of time into trying to get him "right" again. I'm going to be really ticked off if Shelby turns into his old self now with the Cubs after we did all of that work with him the past couple of years to fix his pitching mechanics.
  18. Did Stearns/Arnold get plastered last night watching the Super Bowl, and hungover today? Was hoping we'd get some action here today of some kind, but it seems pretty quiet all across baseball.
  19. I guess that makes some sense, as I too hate the way the game has evolved in recent years where it seems like it is home run or bust. Unfortunately though, a change like this not going to happen overnight. It might take several years for the game to change back to valuing contact/speed again, which means that we may have to live through many years of a really BAD product on the field - where you have a bunch of power hitters that can no longer hit the long ball at the rates that they used to. You'll still get the high K numbers, but you won't get the equally as high HR numbers, which will make for a really boring game.
  20. Why does MLB continue to try to take offense out of the game? Wouldn't more offense attract more interest from the average fan? Personally, I found last year's lower offensive output pretty boring - and I'm a huge baseball fan. Just not sure if this is the right move for MLB to make?
  21. I do find this signing a bit under the radar and intriguing from this winter. Obviously, he's a huge "wild card" and may not pan out at all, but I do like the fact that we've identified a few guys this winter (Robertson, Green and Peterson) who were all pretty high round draft picks who have all had some struggles in their developmental years coming up in their respective systems. BUT, they are three guys who are all now entering their late 20's (their prime years), and maybe something finally clicks for one of these guys? We can hope, right?
  22. When did I miss this Zach Green signing, and what do we know about this guy (outside of what apparently was a really good year in AAA in '19)?
  23. Bauer is getting 40M in 2021. WOW! What was LA's projected team salary before this signing? This has to take them way over the tax threshold, correct? Would they really pony up another 12-15M for Turner now?
  24. Well, Bauer is going to the Dodgers per Heyman. Does this make Turner more available now, or do the Dodgers still find the extra cash to pay for Turner's salary as well?
  25. So, in other words - we might need to hope that the Dodgers step up their offer and sign Bauer here soon, which may then open the door for us to sign JT (hopefully without the guaranteed 3rd year?).
