  1. Schafer? Why? Davis is 5 times the player Schafer is, generally, and at least twice as good against a tough righty pitcher.
  2. Well, the Cards found a way to lose tonight. Brewers and Cards are still tied for 1st place.
  3. ^^ This!! I don't think the double steal was on RR at all, but its ridiculous to use a lesser reliever with the top of the order coming up. If a save situation does come up, wouldn't you rather have Wooten pitching with a lead instead of a tie game? In 2014, I cannot believe managers allow a statistic to dictate how they manage. Well said!
  4. Why is Wooten pitching in a tie game in the 9th inning?
  5. You gotta' take chances on the bases in those situations, I guess. I say that especially when you have Logan Schafer on deck. Give the Reds some credit for good defense on those plays at the plate.
  6. The bench is bad. The manager is not that smart. When is Khris Davis coming back?
  7. Why?!?!?!?!?! Bianchi?!?!?!?!?!? Why is he batting? Maldonado, Reynolds .... they're better hitters!!!!! Duh!!!!!
  8. Brewers need to get somebody like Marlon Byrd (Phillies) for some outfield depth and somebody who can hit off the bench, too!
  9. I still am bothered that the Brewers gave up on a powerful young homerun hitter in Juan Francisco who is doing just great up in Toronto so they could hang onto over-the-hill Lyle Overbay. By the way, why is Overbay smiling over at 1st base with the pitcher who just got a hit off of Kyle Lohse? He's not only a subpar player; he doesn't seem to have the fiery competitive juices anymore, either. You don't smile when your pitcher just gave up a hard-hit single to the other team's weak-hitting pitcher!
  10. You gotta' be smart to win games sometimes. Today, Brewers coaching staff was not smart. No way should Kintzler be pitching in crucial situations!
  11. Jerry Augustine says, "I'll tell you what" very, very often. Listen for it next broadcast.
  12. I want to appeal as to why Cole is not suspended for kicking off the whole melee with his foul mouth in totally unsubtle manner.
  13. I only saw the 2nd "strike" and was surprised it was called a strike. Braun didn't bat an eye over the call, though.
  14. If we had Ramirez' hard-hit ball before either of Gennett's or Braun's hard-hit ball, Brewers would have a sac fly and a 1-0 lead.
  15. Ron Roenicke, to me, is a Ned Yost when it comes to game-management ... just plain dumb all too often. I think Macha was very dry and perhaps not very motivational/inspiring with the players but at least made sound decisions when it came to game decisions, generally, compared to both Yost and Roenicke. Roenicke even sounds like Yost with his references to "Wolfie," "Braunie," "Yunie," "Gomie?," etc. For the 6/1/11 8th and 9th inning game management by Roenicke, I offer the following: Loe cannot pitch to Votto! Good gravy!Betancourt needs a pinch-hitter! McGehee has power and is a better hitter by far.Counsell needs a pinch-hitter (absolutely no power) --- where's Kotsay with 2 outs in the 9th? Why do I feel like Ned Yost is managing this team again? Ugghhh!Play the percentages like Dusty Baker did tonight! Phooey on player's feelings or egos! Play the best guy for the situation at hand! You need lefties with some semblance of power against Cordero, especially with 2 outs and nobody on in a 1-run game. Did the manager not know that Votto annihilates Loe? I told my sons that this non-move by Roenicke was "stupid" right away when the stats flashed on the screen. Listen, Loe is a low-ball pitcher. Votto is a great hitter to begin with who happens to be left-handed (lefties are notorious for being low-ball hitters, to boot) and who has awesome stats against Loe. Good grief! How can Roenicke and the coaching staff look themselves in the mirror when this is outrageously foolish coaching?Doug Melvin? No lefty in the bullpen? Come on, guys! Gotta' get smarter.
  16. I think the Brewers will do as well on the road against FLA and CIN as they would if they were facing them at home right now. Baseball results should not fluctuate wildly based on game location. I think home field advantage is for basketball, primarily, where adrenaline from fan reaction can really peak performance insanely. I don't see home field advantage in baseball much at all. Any facts about home field advantage in baseball over the years that is really noteworthy?
  17. It's sadness to be committed to paying 12.5 million dollars to someone who cannot help you win. It's madness to be committed to paying 12.5 million dollars to someone you choose to help you lose. Sadness is having to pay him.Madness is playing him.
  18. Hawkins has not nearly the sustained putridness like that of Suppan's. Hoffman's implosion is an aberration of historic proportions. At least he has Hall of Fame credentials that make one want to give him a longer leash. Suppan has done nothing above that of a batting-practice pitcher for far too long every 4th or 5th game. His few good performances for the last 2-3 years-plus are where liners are being caught by some sort of wonderful luck. Pitching Suppan is "spitting in the wind" and hoping that the wind suddenly stops or shifts direction.
  19. You must support your assertion with at least one example. Not really trying to help here, but Ken Macha is the manager.....Jim Edmonds has played this year, too......Well, that's two strikes ... Macha is a competent manager if he isn't forced by the general manager and owner to play Suppan. Edmonds? You must be kidding on this one: he's done a very decent job for us on the field. Actually, I will give you a foul ball on Macha ... Macha doesn't exactly inspire, but that is a matter of personal preference for me: I think a manager should show more emotion than an undertaker.
