  1. Yes, our starters have been good lately. Woody, Chacin, Davies and even Anderson have been pitching well and it will help to get Gio and Suter back. When Yelich gets out of his funk (only a guy like him can we say is in a funk because he hasn't hit a HR in a while - he is still getting on base and starting rallies) watch out.
  2. Agree completely. Add in that this is pitching staff built to have starters go 5 innings or so and the have the bullpen close it down. When Knebel went down and Jeffress became ineffective this team's roster became an issue. Now they have starters who. Don't go very deep and a bad bad bullpen. Losing Knebel was so much bigger than I realized at the time. Losing Knebel and having Junior pitch like garbage lately really killed this bullpen. What is a shame is CC feels he has to use Hader multiple innings and then he is shut down and can't play in back to back games. If indeed Stearns is going to be a buyer we need a starter and a reliever.
  3. Instead of sending Dubon down they should send Saladino back instead. What is Counsell's infatuation with "versatile" players like him and Perez??
  4. Only place I saw it was on MLB Extra Innings. It was on the regular Fox channel.
  5. Then perhaps it is time to emulate the Marlins and have a fire sale seeing we are a game and a half out of first place. And it should start with CC. Why he never has another reliever up just in case is puzzling to me. After a couple of batters it was evident that Albers didn't have it last night but because no one else was ready to go we were screwed.
  6. I say in - unless we totally implode in the second half. Who do you think will be the NLC champ? I truly believe this race will go down to the wire like it did last year.
  7. Revenue sharing and a salary cap might work but it appears the players balked at that before.
  8. I couldn't watch the game (I had another commitment that night) but I'm just glad none of our guys got hurt in this meaningless game.
  9. I'm glad Yelich didn't participate in the HR derby last night. Was it just me or did it seem like the guys pitching to the hitters last night not wait for the balls to land before throwing the next pitch?
  10. He has back stiffness I wouldn't mind him not playing on Tuesday too.
  11. Did you guys see Hiura and Arcia embrace after he got back to the dugout after the HR?
  12. Or a sore neck A sore neck from watching balls fly over the fence while standing on the mound...
  13. Maybe Anderson is hurt. Maybe he's just tightening up. Maybe he's got a blister. Maybe he just wanted the PH'er last inning to try to generate some offense, and he knows the entire bullpen is available today going into the break. Lots of reasons that he could have pulled him without it being a "fireable offense".... I suspect CC wanted to generate some offense. We haven't seen much of that lately...
  14. But they are celebrating WINNING the World Series. Huge difference. Yes, but what have they won since? About as much as we have.
  15. If we weren't a half a game out of first even with all of our struggles lately I might agree with you. A lot of folks think the Cubs are the class of the division and they are having issues too. I doubt anyone there is thinking it is now time to sell.
  16. This is a “get off my lawn moment”. But the home run derby sucks. And when a brewer is in it then it really sucks I'm rather relieved he isn't going to participate.
  17. And it did. It cost us the game in the end too.
  18. Yes, Arcia has been one of the few players who is actually hitting right now. I hope we hear more about he is later today.
  19. Well, they are resting Yelich. More important to have him ready for the HR Derby than do everything possible to beat a division rival that is breathing down their necks. How long will it take for Thames in right field to prove costly? I don't have a problem with them resting Yelich. We need a healthy Yelich starting on July 12th going forward.
  20. What I remember is the Dodgers (& likely the Brewers & other interested teams) discussing trade scenarios with the Orioles leading up to the deadline. Based on Machado being traded to Los Angeles it would seem as though Baltimore thought they offered the best prospects of the interested clubs. The amateur market (where the prospects came from) already is capped with controlled spending. I guess what I am struggling to understand is how not having a cap on MLB salaries prevented us from trading prospects for Manny Machado? Amateur spending on players is capped, yes, but, teams can spend as much as they want on scouting, logistics, etc. again, massive advantage to the large markets, able to scout many more players. Yes, it is frustrating that large market teams have an advantage but I don't see it changing any time soon. You've made your case numerous times. Instead of harping on this let's talk about what can be realistically done to fix our issues - something that can be actually done right now.
  21. Last night's blowout aside I don't think pitching is our biggest issue right now. Our anemic offense is a bigger concern lately. If we fall behind by more than 2 runs it feels like 3 times as much.
