  1. Not sure what all the hate is all about, the guy has been raking for about a week now. Granted it won't last at this rate most likely but it's nice to see some semblance of competent play offensively and defensively at the plate for 3B.
  2. Melvin is competent in something? Blasphemy!
  3. Yes, bring Arcia or Rivera (or apparently Sardinas) up before they are ready and watch their confidence be absolutely shattered. Makes total sense to me. How'd that work out for the Twins with Aaron Hicks? Kid is a shell of what he could have been after he was forced up.
  4. Dominguez had 37 home runs between 2013 and 2014. Home runs are only one aspect of the offensive game, but to say he cannot hit worth a single lick is a bit of a stretch.
  5. This is a straw man argument. He's 25 years old and is not a free agent until 2019. One year sooner than Wang. Dominguez has MLB experience, Wang is A+ material and has sucked at it. He may not ever see AAA let alone the bigs. We probably just drafted 5 pitchers who will make it further than Wei Chung Wang will ever get. I don't know why we ever wasted the time and roster spot on him last year...who knows he may still end up in our organization anyway. It doesn't matter.
  6. I think you sign Middleton even at 15 million. There's no guarantee Carter-Williams ever pans out to the point of needing a max deal (I like him), and heaven forbid what if Parker is not the same after the ACL injury? We do need to keep the future in mind, but Middleton really is a good player & is ascending still, who knows in 2-3 years HE may be the 2nd best player on the team.
  7. Remember last year when everyone was clamoring for Mike Moustakas as a reclamation project? He was essentially identical to what Dominguez is... .230 / .280 / .650 and 25 years old. Would you look at what happened this year...currently slashing .320 / .378 / .452 / .830. Funny how when the Brewers make a reclamation project move it's met with hostility, but if it's somebody else's idea its all fine and dandy.
  8. Whine when we don't make a move, then whine when we do. Do you people think that in the middle of June Miguel Cabrera, Jose Bautista, and Mike Trout are on the waiver wire? I don't get it. Quit playing fantasy baseball and start seeing the real world. Taking shots on former decent prospects who haven't panned out is exactly what we should be doing at this point, maybe a change of scenery or a new coach will unlock something in them. Who exactly do you folks expect to play 3B when Aramis is traded? Rogers is Matt Dominguez, they're all the same...middling prospects. For crying out loud Dominguez is TWO YEARS YOUNGER THAN JASON ROGERS, yet everyone on here thinks Rogers is what we're looking for. The kid hit 21 HR in 2013, teach him to take a few walks & put a few more balls in play and hes a useful member of this team. Sure it most likely won't work, but the idea behind it is not rocket science.
  9. Carlos Gomez anyone? So this means that Wei Chung Wang Wednesdays are history? The only thing more dumb than him actually clogging up our roster in the first place last year was that he even got a stupid day named after him. Right behind Hank the dog as far as idiotic things go.
  10. We just need to better understaaaaand the mind of Carlos Gomez. It is not his fault, he's trying...he'll try harder next time not to get that crucial baserunning out in the 8th inning.
  11. Trading Braun = Pipe dreams.
  12. Oh really? You mean it wasn't such a crazy idea to think we'd be a fit with the Twins? Lol I think cars may be lit on fire down in Dinkytown if Carlos Gomez appears here at Target Field again. I can't imagine him being welcomed back here with open arms, but Minnesotans are a strange lot...they're just as liable to do the complete opposite.
  13. Brook Lopez would be coming here because he's a "Kidd guy," like Jorge Gutierrez was. Between his unending injuries & lack of defense it seems like a death knell to me...we don't need a Chip Kelly coach here, we need a center like Deandre Jordan. He won't be leaving LA though.
  14. Hopefully I am not wrong in this assessment but I don't think Brook Lopez fits our scheme defensively. I don't want him around here either...Asik or Koufos would be better options.
  15. Lance Stephenson via trade, Lou Williams, Wes Matthews, Omer Asik, Rodney Stuckey, Kosta Koufos are a few guys we could use at the right price in free agency.
  16. Salary dumpage. See ya Ersan Bucks get : Caron Butler Shawne Williams Pistons get : Ersan Ilyasova
  17. Idk about anyone else, but I really like Kevin Owens.
  18. If the Mets really want to trade Niese for Ramirez straight up, we should pull the trigger before they change their mind. I get that folks think we can't have a SINGLE "veteran" (is Niese really a veteran?) on this team, but SOMEBODY has to play. Niese would be our new Kyle Lohse for the next 1.5+ seasons or we can flip him at the deadline next year for something else.
  19. There's actually talk of him sticking around next year as well if his body doesn't break down. It's only June so alot can happen, but I wonder if he has organizational aspirations in mine (ala Garnett / Wolves).
  20. A reversion to the mean of some kind is surely in order at some point, but living here in Minnesota and watching them daily it is a completely different air. I would liken it to something we experienced with the Bucks this past season...a team that was in DIRE need of a new voice combined with a bunch of slightly overachieving players. I think they'll be in the race until September, but eventually will fade out of a postseason spot. Definitely Molitor (subtracting Gardy) and Torii have impacted the squad. It's the best of both worlds for the tightwad Pohlads...they can sell some hope right now while not starting the clocks on Buxton, Sano, Berrios, etc and having the fans get mad at them.
  21. What if Daz is there at 40 ?? ........
  22. I hope you're prepared for this, because it's what is going to happen IMO. With Braun looking more and more like the 2007-2012 version of Ryan Braun, the window has not shut for playoff/World Series contention (in the eyes of management). Segura is going to get traded, look at how we are assembling a small army of high upside risk specimens in the middle infield with Hector Gomez, Luis Sardinas, Hernan Perez, etc along with Orlando Arcia progressing pretty quickly. The chess board has been maneuvered to allow such a scenario. Suggesting Jon Lucroy gets traded though is ridiculous...regardless of whether it should happen or not he is viewed as a cornerstone here for the long term. I predict he will be resigned when he reaches FA as well. I'm beginning to wonder if Gomez really has the trade value / value on the open market we think he does. The constant stupid baserunning decisions, wild swings, and forgetting how many outs there are on a seemingly routine basis have to degrade him to some point in the eyes of other teams. I wonder if he will be resigned as well at some point, at a value lower than we think he should command. Don't get me wrong, I want him traded, but it's something i've been pondering.
  23. To suggest that hypocrisy would put to bed a pretty large topic on this site. Folks don't want to accept Braun is coming back to normal, it's much easier in life to blame and hate on something when things are going bad than it is to do the opposite. Ryan Braun is not why this team is losing, and if he really is back it kind of shoots the whole 3-4 year rebuild idea (again, another huge point of controversy here), and perhaps shortens it to a 1-2 year. This is from a realistic Brewers organization standpoint, not from an armchair "blow it up and rebuild" standpoint which this site has.
  24. Um...do you even know the minors at all? There's some dude called Byron Buxton who plays CF and should be called up soon...perhaps you've heard of him. Unless you put Gomez at DH which is completely idiotic there's nowhere for Gomez in MN.
  25. I can think of multitudes of ideas that are 100 times worse than building a portion of a stadium for a professional sports franchise. This entire subject is one of the biggest yawners in the country and I wish it would just get done and over with. I'm worn out in Minnesota having lived through the baloney that went into building the new Vikings and Twins stadiums.
